Even though according to Amazon.com, Mya’s album isn’t set for release until December 31, 2020, it’s leaked. Over the past year, Mya has been talking about Liberation and the tracks have been leaking left and right – I wasn’t sure what fresh material she was going to have to put on the album. And it seemed as though everything I was hearing was disappointing. She had a couple of failed singles (her camp attempted to release “Ayo” a while back, then came “Lock U Down,” which featured Lil’ Wayne – that didn’t even give it the push they needed). Now, here we are on single #3, “Ridin’” – which has gotten little media attention, much less, radio play.

It just seems like Mya can’t get it right this time around, on Liberation. I tried hard to be a fan this time around, but the album and just the whole process of getting it out has really let me down. Even though I’m disappointed and a lot of the material sounds dated, some songs that I liked on the album include “Give A Chick A Hand,” and “Ridin’.” It just seems like Mya hasn’t done any growing since any of her previous albums. She just seems to be the same artist she was all those years ago. Some may look at this as a positive, but I just don’t see any evolution.
According to fans, Mya has ditched the Liberation project, and new music can be heard via her MySpace for a new project, tentatively titled Smoke & Mirrors. Catchy titled. We’ll see.
Since there’s no information on a new Mya release date for Liberation, check out her MySpace for updates on new projects. Like I said, there’s rumors of a new album being recorded – we’ll see.

“Give a Chick a Hand”…sounds like one of her older songs…I can’t put my finger it…but it just sounds eerily similar…but none the less it’s not a bad song…
I’ve always liked Mya…so I hope she can get things together and put out a nice CD.

Mya need to follow in the footsteps of Paula Abdul, that’s right I said it Paula Abdul. Mya went to dance school, I think she should start choreographing for artists, that will lead to other “non-singing” projects. Hey Paula won an emmy for choreography, did the dance sequence for Coming to America. Turn it around Mya! Use your real talent.

I used to sort of like Mya back in 1998 and 2000….but times changed after Alicia Keys cane out..and she became America’s favorite biracial girl….lol
Mya’s biggest mistake in her career is trying so hard to market herself to the urban community.She seriously need to take notes from that other mutt Rihanna.I’m still rooting for her though.I just never understood why she tried so hard to be a r&b singer when Mtv and Pop radio clearly were the only formats that supported her ass.

Mya, in some ways, reminds me of Lena Horne. The diffrence is, Lena Horne always knew that after awhile, the fans would soon tire of you. So, before they do, you take a bow and leave them wanting more. A “Lady” always knows when her time is up. Mya has not learned that yet. I think she has made all the hits she’s going to make.

When Mya first came out, I was a part of her target audience (teens). Now that demographic has grown (I’m 26) & prefers the likes of A. Keys, Jilly from Philly, India.Arie, Mary, Beyonce, etc. Maybe she should try growing with her fans. She should try making sexy songs & ballads. Stuff that seems adult.
She needs to explore her vocal range too cuz her voice is boring. Grown women don’t care about how cute you are either so relax with the overt sexuality.

I really dont know what to say about Ms. Thang. “Ridin” leaked like the beginning of the summer and don’t even get me started on “Lock U Down”. I cant say it enough you must have some POWER behind your machine. Its not like the songs are wack, she is lacking in the label department.
Alicia was played during EVERY SINGLE commercial break on MTV, and even has promo commercials. I dont blame it on Mya she has some decent tracks, she just needs some push. And right now she doesn’t have that.

Actually “Smoke & Mirrors” was the working title for Liberation. I remember her saying it in an interview a loooong time ago. I have d/l the album and honestly out of all her stuff this is the only one that I can actually rock to. Her other albums sucked. My faves are “I Am”, “In The Name Of Love” and “I’m Still A Woman”.

You can Google “Mya” & find pics with her cheeks hanging out, She’s done King & discussed being in the Miles High Club, & I’ve seen performances where she aimed to be sexy but it looked contrived.
A lot of entertainers who started young in their careers always think that maturing their image means to be OD on the sex.
I’ll give it to Bey. She’s never had to sell her ass for superstardom. Likewise for A. Keys.
How is Ciara any different from Mya?
Ciara sells sex more than anybody…wearing short short skirts in a video. Singing about her coochie in “Goodies” and trying to get publicity by f*cking Bow Wow and 50 Cent. So what makes Ciara’s crappy “Evolution” CD any better than Mya’s?
