KANYE WEST RELEASES A STATEMENT
Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Kanye West released an official statement on Monday in regards to his mother’s unexpected death over the weekend.
Kanye West, his family and friends would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country since the death of his mother, Dr. Donda West.
Donda invites MTV’s cameras into her home to show off Kanye’s artwork for “The Diary of Kanye West.” (2004) Plus more video collages of Kanye & his mother together.
After working in higher education for 31 years, Dr. Donda West and Kanye West co-founded the Kanye West Foundation with the mission of helping to combat the severe dropout problem in high schools across the country. The first and signature initiative of the Kanye West Foundation is Loop Dreams. Designed to capitalize on students’ existing interest in hip-hop, Loop Dreams challenges students to learn more about what’s behind hip-hop culture in order to help them develop skills, express themselves creatively and be empowered.
Instead of flowers, Kanye West and his family request that donations be made in Dr. West’s name to Kanye West Foundation/Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute at 8560 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069.
Donations may also be made at www.kanyewestfoundation.org.

She Shall be Praised
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth no the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; they praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Kanye, words can not express the pain of losing a mother and one that was true in everything that she did. While we will not be able to understand the “why” we do know the “who” and that “who” is GOD. He shall keep you and sustain you in this very trying time. It doesn’t get better but it does get easier, I can assure you. Please hold near and dear of the memories you shared with your mother and you have many. Keep people around you that love you and the people who loved your mother so you will keep her spirit alive. I will pray for you everyday because we here left on this earth must carry on and serve our purpose so we can see our mothers on the other side.

I can’t hear Kanye’s message because I am at work! Condolences to his family and him. At least she was here to see that he succeeded and was able to spear head that foundation as well as support him.

I just called my mom and told her i loved her,I went through alot this year and my mom has been my rock through it all. I don’t know how i would have gotten through without her. That’s why it hurts me to the core to hear of Dr.West passing. I can see the essence of love between them, that was a spiritual bond they had,and it is so evident and powerful. I will continue to pray for Kanye and his family. God is love and God loves you Kanye.

I think that Kanye should take a stand and speak out against the negative images the media portrays that would make a woman want to get surgery. He should speak out and say “be happy with who you are” ……his mom was a beautiful and mature lady and she didn’t need a tummy tuck she was beautiful just how she was. If there wasn’t so much pressure in the world to be perfect……but who is to say what perfect is? God made us all perfect in his eyes and who are we to mess with that.
God bless you Kanye and family……take this sad moment and make a difference in another lady’s life.

Kanye,
You did something for your mother that a lot of people don’t do until it’s too late…you loved her openly, strongly, and unashamedly. You gave the term “mama’s boy” a beautiful and warm meaning. A badge of honor to wear proudly.
The bible says to rejoice with them that do rejoice and mourn with them that mourn. I mourn with you and your family, Kanye. I will keep you in my prayers.

I don’t know why it’s hitting me so hard! I guess it’s because there bond was so public and he was so open about his love, appecation, and gratitude for her. That video is heartbreaking and, I know it’s juvenile because these things happen for a reason, but I really wish this hadn’t happened.

This is so heartbreaking. Dr West was such a role model for Single parents trying to raise their children. Not only did she do it, but she did it well. As an Educator, with a doctorate no less, she has long held the admiration of many of Kanye’s fans. Though I’ve never met her, I’m one of her biggist fans and she will be sorely missed.
Prayers for Kanye and the entire West fam.
It will be an honor to support the Kanye West Foundation/Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute. Dr West would be proud of Kanye’s decision to do this. Very classy. Very Dr West.

Kanye West is my favourite hip hop artist and what made me admire him even more was the love and respect that he obviously had for his mother. You could tell that they had an ubnreakable bond and a truly deep and loving friendship. When I heard the news I was just in shock…….and Saturday was my birthday, so it just made me so sad. I know that I will never truly grasp the insurmountable grief that Kanye and the rest of his family are feeling right now, but take heed that God felt that Dr. Donda West had truly left a stamp on this earth that her legacy and time here will never be erased. She spent thirty years of her life dedicating her time, heart and soul to raise an amazing and talented man that we all know now as Kanye Omari West.
My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Kanye and the enitre West family.
R.I.P. Dr. Donda West

SHOCKED! I was very shocked to hear the news of Kanye West’s mothers death! I recently heard her interview on WENDY WILLIAMS radio show not too long ago. I too feel like there is so much pressure in the industry & entertainment world to be thin, have a flat stomach, be a certain size, get a smaller nose, get smaller breasts, or larger breasts. When I heard of Dr. Wests death, I remembered how Wendy Williams brought up the topic of plastic surgery briefly with Donda West. Wendy discusses Plastic Surgery with almost all of her female guests & Donda being one of the many celebrity “manager moms” out there made her no exception (Wendy will recommend Cosmetic procedures to damn near anybody since she herself has had numerous lipo-suction work done, face work, breast implants, & the list goes on) . Though Wendy Williams isn’t ashamed to share with the world what she has had done to her body, many CELEBS & famous folks try and keep their surgical procedures QUIET.
Donda was a beautiful woman inside out & personally I didn’t feel that Cosmetic surgery was needed AT-ALL. But the pressures of the INDUSTRY will do that to even the most beautiful souls such as Donda. I guess FATE is unforseen & despite the complications of her surgery, possibly being the main cause of her death, we all may have to accept that it was Dondas time to go. My heart goes out to the entire family, particularly Kanye, he was very close to his mother & being an only child I am sure she was all he had many days & years to lean on, I could only imagine.
My deepest sympathy, & heart goes out to him & his loved ones. May god give him continued strength & continued faith during this difficult time.

My sincere condolences to Mr. Kanye West, and the family and friends of Dr. Donda West. When i heard the news this past weekend it felt like a member of my family was lost just because i am such a big fan of not just his music but of him and his relationship with his mother. We all should be as lucky to have a mother that always looks out for their child’s best interest.
R.I.P. Dr. West
Stay Strong Big Brother.
