It amazes me how many did not peg this as a remake immediately. True testament of how far removed we are from true r&b/ soul music and its roots. A. Keys does a better than decent job though, far better than her remake of “Every Little Bit Hurts.”

She did a good job on the remake. My favorite is still her second single.

Little Anthony and the Imperials, the group who originally sang this song sounded much better. I would have thought Ms. Keys would have taken this classic to another level. However, it’s still a great song.

Love this song! Love the album! I think her previous albums are classic to me, because I could put them on and just zone OUT! I can do that with this album too, but it’s more straightforward and really showcases where she is in life. I heard in a couple of interview she’s stronger and isn’t afraid to be herself, instead of this always-perfect-answer celeb. It shows in her vocal style and arrangements. It’s about power and overcoming personal issues and demons. Some say she’s straining, but I’d rather listen to her voice than a clear perfectly pitched boring ass voice. She really knows how to channel her emotion through her voice. And for those who say it is boring… Newsflash, it’s Alicia Keys. She’s known for making ballads and a lot of times you have to be in a certain mood to listen to her. Anyway, this album is wonderful! I don’t have Alicia’s albums on repeat anymore, because sometimes I can get stuck in that mood and get way too carried away. But whenever I listen to the album once in a while to zone out… It’s wonderful. Her lyrics may sometimes be lacking, but i think it’s all in her delivery more than ever. She delivers you straight up emotion on a silver platter. That is what I appreciate from her! She carries you through a journey of emotions. Love it.

This is a remake, and maybe it did not make the album because she did not receive permission to use it. I agree with Punky n the NewYorker..some things should be left to the original. I always thought of Alicia Keys as the opposite project of Whitney for Clive Davis. Whitney was too “ethic” as he put it, so he commercialized her. Alicia who is mixed, grew up in hells kitchen playing Mozart was not ethnic enough, so he added braids in his attempt to “urbanize her”..basically what they tried to do with pink. That clause for her to rock braids must be over, because she rocking the lace fronts now too. She always seemed uncomfortable, but such is the business they are in…clive davis will take everything that a girl is an mold her to his liking to make him the money. I am waiting for her to get into rock music, or something to that nature..Although it was all Clive, I still like the beat to melody, but the album sounds very played off Prince, Jackson, old Motown..not original just a play on good old R N B. But I guess it would be original for people born after the 70’s
