T.I., currently under house arrest in his hometown of Atlanta, has already started working on new material for a new album, which he hopes to release September 2008, entitled Paper Trail. T.I. is writing all the lyrics down on paper, which he claims he hasn’t done since 2001′s I’m Serious.
“Usually when he records an album he does 100 songs and chooses from that — it’s just that now he’s officially starting to record,” a spokesperson tells Billboard.com. “There are no song titles yet because who’s to say if these songs are even going to make the record.”
T.I. is awaiting his trial on federal weapons charges. We’ll see how well this new album fairs, though. A lot of fans were disappointed by his latest effort, T.I. vs. T.I.P. Not only that, but his arrest hasn’t even allowed him opportunity to complete promo on that album.
SOLANGE HARD AT WORK
Solange, who has been in the media a lot lately for random socialiting, is currently at work on her sophomore album, Solange & the Hadley Street Dreams. Solange says that the record is a mix of old sixties and seventies soul mixed with electronica.
Solange tells Essence.com in a recent interview:
“I wasn’t going to do another record because I didn’t want to be in the limelight. I liked staying home with my son and expressing myself through writing. But things happened in my life that I wanted to discuss and vent about, so that’s how the record came about.”
On the record, Solange will do most of the writing and producing. However, she has been in Miami, working Cee-Lo Green, and the album includes features from Lil’ Wayne (she recently added him to “ChampagneChronicNightcap”), as well as Q-Tip, as well as working with Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry. Solange also recently penned a publishing deal with EMI.
ALICIA KEYS RELEASES HER NEW RECORD

On the new LP, Alicia Keys has proclaimed that she tried to “become a better person” on the record, saying the album is like Janis Joplin meets Aretha Franklin. On the project, she worked with the soulful John Mayer and the legendary Linda Perry. #1 No One is Eligible for the grammies. Her album and the other songs aren’t. The deadline was September the 30th. No One was out by then. She’ll have to wait until 2009 Grammies. I’m hoping they will remember her album by then.

If Alicia was eligible she would be winning a lot of awards in February. The New York Times called it her best effort to date. The critics are loving it, but there are a few who didn’t like it.

Well, IMO it is kind of a good thing she’s not eligible. I mean we know that AMy Winehouse is going to kill at the Grammies that and Kanye West’s album. So ALicia will have less competition 2008. Mariah has never been a huge Grammy winner and Beyonce is not a huge threat to Alicia. So Alicia would probably win more awards than she would in 2008. She just have to pick good singles and try to make her album last until next November.

Alicia : That’s definitely her best album to date. I bought it. Right now, I’m addicted to Wreckless Love, Lesson Learned, Sure Looks Good To Me, and I Need You. I love the album from beginning to end, minus “Superwoman” and “Where do we go from here” who are just average to me. Good job Ms Keys.

@ #20, I agree. If she would have put out an album at the same time as Bey, then people would have constantly been comparing the two, and it would have been blown out of proportion. I liked Champange Chronic Nightcap and White Picket Dreams.This album seem like a major upgradge from her last one, and I think I might buy it.I think she has a lot to say this time around.Her voice is ok but it’s not as bad as others.I don’t think nobody should compare her to Bee, even though they are sisters, they have different voices and I can see music style too.
I listend to AK album.It’s ok, not a classic though (IMO).But I do like some songs such as “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” “Tell You Something” and “Go Ahead.”
