NIA, SANAA, & GABRIELLE COVER ESSENCE & TALK ABOUT GOSSIP BLOGS

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

threeessence.jpg

Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, and Gabrielle Union cover the newest issue of Essence Magazine. The actresses spoke candidly about gossip blogs and I give a response. Check for that after the cut.

Essence: How do you deal with the 24-hours-a-day gossip that comes out on the Internet?
Gabrielle: Just last week somebody gave me a baby. This isn’t Perez Hilton or the White gossip people, these are women of color, specifically Black women who, for whatever reason, don’t like the company I keep.

Sanaa: She’s talking about the gossip sites.

Essence: The blogs.

Sanaa: That are run by Black women.

Gabrielle: And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits, the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking, no nothing. And in one week’s time, there were like five different dudes, a baby—I’m a homewrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t care about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in front of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t care about us in that way. So when you hear crap about us, it is coming from our own community, which hurts.

Nia: We are some of the few Black actresses whose passions are rooted in our community.

Gabrielle: There is this idea that there is integrity in journalism; if it’s written it has to be true. But that’s not the case. When blogs or any of the magazines get it wrong, there’s no accountability. In the next breath, they’ll complain on the blogs that we don’t have enough Black stars. Well, you rip us to shreds every two seconds from our nose to the weave to the clothes to the shoes to the ashy ankles. [ SOURCE ]

I would have to disagree with what Gabrielle Union said about bigger sites coming to our blogs and getting info. Actually all the gossip we have ever posted about her was from Page Six or some other “popular” gossip site. From the Darren Sharper slow dance to the Derek Jeter rumor, all were Page Six. And to be blunt, I don’t pull rumors out my ass just for the sake of it. I always try to have a source.

As a young black woman heading a popular black blog, I take offense to what she said. We try hard to make it clear what is a rumor and what is fact. We also try to show everyone in a positive light. We cannot control what is said in the comments, only moderate them. Don’t generalize all the black blogs as if we all are out to attack. She name dropped Perez Hilton, but couldn’t name drop what black blog she was specifically talking about? How convenient.

It’s whatever! I really do like that cover though.

@ Shawnti77…

Just out of curiousity, are you a subscriber to Essence? My mother and I have received the magazine for the last 15 years and the color scheme has never been in favor of light skinned Blacks. They do feature on singers, actresses and models in a variety of colors. Essence prides themselves on that. Just go to the archieves and see for yourself. If anyone out there is showing us the darker sistas some love, it’s Essence. Their beauty editor is a dark skinned sista so I doubt the ‘light is right’ thing is an issue. IMO. No disrespect.

Well I agree with BOTH Gabrielle and ANGEL….

I agree with Angel about her BLOG being responsible (it’s one of the only black blogs I visit) and TASTEFUL. I think that they try to get people facts about celebs and when it’s a rumor, they will say so. I think CL is a great site. I don’t come here as much for the celebrity gossip (cause I can care less about somebodies life that I don’t know), I like the FASHION and MUSIC posts. I think what messes this site up is the constant arguing that goes on in the comment section. Its over the top. smh

As far as GABRIELLE, I understand where she is coming from because I think some people just can’t wait to talk sh*t about or to people on the Internet. It’s sad. I can understand leaving a comment, but some people just sound hateful, and it’s NOT that serious. I can understand what she says, how people say there are not enough black stars, but people tear down the ones that are. For example; whenever people happen to talk about celebs around me, I have never heard of anyone say anything NEGATIVE about HALLE BERRY. It wasn’t untill I started coming to some black blog sites that I seen how ignorant people can be. Talk about her being bi-racial, her personnal life, it’s almost like people can’t wait to hate. It get’s old. It’s sad because HALLE seems like a decent, genuine person and some black folks (especially females) can’t wait to try to cut her down over simple stuff. I feel like people should focus their negative energy to the real @ssholes in that business, because it’s more then apperent that their are quite a few, and quit attacking the people that seem like good people. Gabrielle seems like a good person, so I hope she doesn’t take too much of this stuff to heart and brush it off. People say “well they are celebs, that comes with the territory”…does it? Since when has it been so acceptible to bash people and attack people personally based on their profession? What’s even more sad is that people use that “well they are celebs” statement as an excuse to be nasty and ignorant. Ive seen people talk about some people’s FAMILY MEMBERS and other nonsense and they know good and well if someone talked about their family they would be ready to fight. But it’s okay for them to say whatever. Half the things said on these sites people wouldn’t say to anyones face, you’re not fooling anyone. One thing i’ve learned sinse reading these blogs is that people feel comfortible sitting behind a computer talking crazy to and about people. Half the time, it’s not a good look.

To Angel,
Your blog is classy compared to other blogs out there. I’m surprised that Gabby and other celeb’s have time to read blogs they claim put them down. If they dont like what bloggers are saying, STOP READING THEM. You cant control what people say on blogs. You highlight a subject, then bloggers run away it a lot of times. Ridicule and critism is not new to any of these ladies, so why blast African American sites, when you dont have all the facts of who’s actually running these sites? I cant blame you for feeling a little offended, but you have to realize, not everyone, including celebs, are going to like your site. At least you’ve got their attention. Skip them, you all keep up the good work, and in the words of Russell Simmons, “DO YOU”.

Gabby is right… & it was cool of her not to blast what blogs she’s refering to. She’s saying that there is a problem & she’s basically saying that we know where the problem is (without calling out names). Classy move IMO…
& it def doesn’t mean she’s talking about CL so freakin’ relax!
Everyone knows that D Wade stuff got out of control…

It seems as if she’s a little mad that the “white media” isn’t chasing her down, like she wants the attention. I just see it as if your in hollywood, your going to be talked about good or bad. You should take it with a grain of salt and know it comes with the job. You can’t go and attack black blogs because to be honest you should be happy that they even care enough to do a story on you and give you exposure. Concrete Loop as had many post about Gabrielle Union that weren’t in a negative way. I’ve been reading CL almost everyday for almost 2 years so I know.

Why do black celebrities think that the black community owes them something simply because they’re black? What exactly do black celebrities do for the black community to warrant this unconditional support and respect where supposed to be OBLIGATED to give?

There used to be a time when people like Aretha Franklin and Ruby Dee were marching right alongside MLK. Those days are long gone. Today’s black celebrity is no different than today’s white celebrity - focused on their career and image and force feeding you crappy movies, music and products. I don’t understand why any of these woman should be treated differently from any other celebrity. If you have a problem w/ celebrity gossip, than say that. But to single out black female bloggers, as if they OWE you something, is riduclous. And although I’m not a blogger, as a black female, i find it offensive too!

Ms. Union only felt comfortable saying that because she was singling out black woman. If she talked about white bloggers, they would have responded with: “who the hell are you in the first place”. If she talked about black male bloggers, they would have responsed with “why are you putting the black man down”. But if you attack black female bloggers the general perception is “black woman are crabs inb a barrell and they just catty and jealous”. That’s why she felt comfortable saying that slick mess.

Angel - I suggest you and every other black female blogger honor her request and not post ANYTHING about her. There’s enough black celebes out there to talk about

NEXT!

See…I told you bitches…I told you…I TOLD YOU that there is a such thing as Brown Skinned girls. Sometimes I feel left out of the lightskinned dark/ skinned discussions cause nobody brings up the sistahs in between. Brown skinned girls are that barrier- not quite light…not quite dark…our hair comes in a plethera (did i spell it right) of textures and colors…our eyes..smooth brown like godiva or fresh green mint…*takes a deep breath and smiles* this has made my night.

NO IM NOT TRYNING TO START A COLOR WAR

I’m really torn on this subject…i understand where gabrielle is coming from, but at the same time, when she’s not working on a big movie project or out on the red carpet, pictures that the paparrazi snap is what keeps her fans in touch with her. If some fans haven’t seen her in a while then maybe they will think that she looks different or wonder if she’s dating the person she’s dancing with, etc.

I think that’s it’s really cheap that she’s trying to blame a whole race of bloggers though. Everybody is not out to get gabrielle union and all the other black celebrities.

I like Gabrielle Union..she seems like a beautiful person and a good actress, but I don’t like the way she came off in that interview….if she really hates how she’s portrayed in certain blogs, maybe she should take it up with whatever blog is portraying her that way instead of generalizing black blogs.

BTW forgot to add. Why does the cover say “collectors edition”?

WTF, how the hell is this a collectors edition. Essence has the same 10 black woman on their cover every damn year. Was’nt Nia Long on the cover of Essence talking about the fight w/ her baby’s father LAST YEAR. Essence, really needs to recognize, there are other black woman in film and music. I’m sorry, but I’m sick of hearing from the same actress talking about the most ridiculous topics over and over and over again. Essence needs and upgrade - pronto!

She could have kept that shit to herself. A celeb reading gossip sites is just asking for a damn complex. If you think they ate you up before, girl wait until they know they can hurt your feelings.

I dont visit other sites so Angel was the only person that came to mind when I read the comments. If there are a large number of sites being ran by black women then I guess Angel should shake it off. But, I do understand her initial reaction being ” I know she aint talking bout me” Thats just reflex.

The cover is GORGEOUS! These are three of my favorite black actresses (especially Sanaa).

I have to reiterate what Angel said. I think ConcreteLoop seems to be particularly cautious when printing certain rumors. Even when Kanye’s mom died, I noticed that you guys were slow putting it up and I KNOW people were blowing your email up as the rumors started circulating it. You guys didn’t put it up until it was confirmed. I noticed (and appreciated) that. I’ve noticed similar things before. On your “news tips” form, you specifically ask for sources. Since you guys are technically not “journalists” in the traditional sense, you really are holding yourselves to a much higher standard than you need to (although ConcreteLoop is morphing into something more than a “blog”).

I can appreciate the ladies being pissed that people who don’t know them judge them, but white people do the same thing to their celebrities. Sanaa, Nia and Gabby get MUCH love from bloggers AND the public. Even if you do occassionally have ashy ankles (and get called on it), people still love to see you guys. They aren’t treating you any differently than they would if a group of homegirls saw somebody walking down the street with ashy ankles…LMAO. Ya’ll know how we do. Don’t front. Just because you are celebrities, you know black folks will call you out in a minute! LOL As for the pregnancy rumors, those are just triflin’ people, and they come in all colors.

But Angel you gotta admit people on here be tearing black folk down. Because its your blog, it may look like you endorse it. You do have to take some responsibility for what is said on your blog and there are some ignorant bloggers on here sometimes. That said, she never said concreteloop, so don’t be too offended. Now those mystery celebrity gossip things that you do is kinda suspect…EVENTHOUGH you always say it doesn’t come from you, it’s still kinda sketch. Anyhow, I think you Angela do a good job, but recognize that people who respond on here are often hateful and ultra-critical, and it reflects back on you (unfortunately)

I agree with Gabby as well and I understand if she comes across as bitter. Week after week, the media name drops another man that she is supposedly seeing or sleeping with or dating, etc. It can get old although it’s what we the readers are after. We want the juice… real or fake as long as it is entertainment and unfortunately garbage is entertaining…no offense. I think CL is one of the best sites as I read it all day every day. There isn’t always negativity portrayed and oftentimes, the source is revealed. With that said, I don’t think Gabby was specifically targeting one site over another…It should not have been taken offensively as it is her experience for the most part and the question was asked of her and she gave her honest feelings about it. Not to be taken personally, I’m sure. And yes - the Darren Sharper rumor was true. He’s one of my closest friends and they were very much a couple, however they are no longer and she wasn’t a home wrecker…He was very much single when they hooked up. That’s their story - can’t speak for others.

I’m actually kind of disappointed in Gabrielle for that statement. I’ve been a fan of hers for a while because she always came off as intelligent and sophisticated. I never would have pegged her as one to make a comment like that. She almost sounds. . . whiny. Her generalization and poorly thought out response just rubbed me the wrong way. If that’s not how she meant it, then Essence did her dirty. Did anyone else notice that she didn’t even answer the question, which was, “How do you deal with the 24-hours-a-day gossip that comes out on the Internet?” Well, obviously she doesn’t deal with it well. Or, maybe she was just having a rough day.

Gabby, girl, you’re not supposed to let them see you sweat. *tsk tsk*

And, Angel, don’t even sweat it girl. You have every right to be offended, but I think that comment reflects negatively on Gabby more so than it does on you. She didn’t handle that one well. But, everyone makes mistakes. Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re doing it well.

General comments made toward black women are acceptable. How many statements do we see everyday starting with “black women”? They are jealous, they are angry, they are always tearing each other down. Many of the women on this site are not even black but damn near every negative comment posted is credited to a bitter black woman.

I have to say this is one of the blogs that I still subscribe to on my bloglines. I appreciate the information you write. I do recognize and applaud you for showing the source of your information and not just posting opinionated gossip. Maybe you should try not blogging about Gabby for about a month and see how she even notices. Then again, if Gabby was not at everybody and their momma’s party all up in the camera nobody would talk about her. WTH. I think half the time she just wants to be seen. I decided last week when I kept seeing her all up in everybody’s party shot that I was through with her.

Shine on ConcreteLoop! Do what you do! There is no reason why the black blogger should not be getting it and showing the whole world how beautiful our community is. This site goes to show that we can break the stereotypes that news portrays of us on a nightly basis! Be Blessed!

I mean, our black celebs (especially our actresses) are pretty good at keeping their noses clean, so every time one of those tired ass blind items drops, it’s sad to see people swearing up and down it’s this chick or that chick for no other reason than “my sisterbabydaddymamacousin swore he saw her selling her body for paint chips on Rodeo Drive”. Because when you’re in hollywood image is the name of the game. That’s why she shouldn’t let them see her sweat. If you’re in the business, you should know how to work the business well. You don’t see Beyonce, or Oprah, or Angela Basset, or Janet Jackson coming out their face making comments like that. They know to talk to their publicist first.

Gabrielle made a comment that could seriously burn some bridges for her, and that’s a bad move for a Black actress in Hollywood. So, if she was smart, she’d play it safe.

I think Gabby is talking about Sandra Rose who monitors the comments which I hate. But I think the most talk I see about Gabby is on MTO. I go to Bossip and MTO for entertainment purposes because it’s just funny how someone is getting married to two different people and then breaking up the next week. Angel, I don’t think you should be offended like everyone else thinks take that up the others members of your team. I think they feel like by being black we should try to hold each other up because we all know as a black community we do have issues with each other and its bad enough these blogs are our Extra and Access Hollywood. Yes, Gabby should appreciate someone talking about her but I think she only wants to see the positive stuff. The only way we will hear about each other is thru blogs so Gabby make a new friend. Because I live in Dallas in ms ghetto Lady Jade gets her information from MTO when she reports her “entertainment news.” Cleary she being a journalist through broadcast media does not fact check!!

Angel now you know I love you but I do think you’re reading to much into what she’s saying…

As for the comments made by Gabby I do think she needs to take a chill pill and be happy someone wants to report on her one dimensional ass. I don’t find her interesting, I don’t like her acting and I think she’s a one character actress.. BUT guess what this is a blog and this is America where I am free to say what I want when I want.
Why is it “celebrities” get their panties in a bunch when someone says something about them they don’t like? YET the moment you approach them to verify the truth the first thing they say is no comment or I wish the public would respect my privacy…THIS AINT BURGER KING AND YOU CAN’T HAVE IT YOUR WAY!!!
Now granted I do believe everyone is entitled to their privacy and no I don’t think people in the industry owe me again because I sported their album or movie, they provided me a service and I did the same for them.
At no point in my life would I allow the thoughts of others hurt my feelings. Yes Gabby and I are two different people still I don’t know why people seem to care what others think of them so much. When I see pictures of anyone on this site or any other site do I assume their dating no and nine times outta ten nor do I care(unless it’s about my baby Shaq but that’s a whole other story). Just as everyday people have to ignore the comments made by others, people in the business do as well. Them more so because they are in the public and are scrutinize from head to toe. So Gabby my advice to you would be SCRATCH YOUR ASS GET GLAD AND GET OVER IT!

Now….there are some saying yes people do come here and make negative comments about those in the blogs, yeah we do like it or not that’s what happens. Do I feel obligated to respond to every post I see no and if I do respond NO not all of it will be good… If their weave is tore up yes I will say that.. If I think their shoes are a hot ass mess then guess what I will say that as well. Last I checked we were all human and humans are judgemental whether you want to admit it or not we are, some more than others. I don’t know whether any of you know it or not but this is life we’re living and shit happens…the good and the bad oh well…

Wasn’t it CL that used to have the close ups of busted toes and jacked up hair lines and knuckles that look like they’d been dipped in flour? I seem to specifically remember a time where poor Iman was ripped to shreds about her hammer toes. I think CL is light on the BS gossip (which is why I’m a regular reader), but let’s not act like the same tired-ass recycled blind items don’t make regular appearances here just like they do other blogs.

Bossip is not Black owned and though MTO is it is an African man who owns it. YBF is what Gabby had to be talking about cause Natasha is forever talking ish about who Gabby is supposedly dating. I knew when I read it she was talking about YBF.

And don’t get mad but CL has only recently gone the kind and gentle route because you all know celebs are reading your site and you wanna make nice with them. When this blog started you were calling women bitches and saying hoe sit down just like Fresh still does now. You were mean and rude too because that is what sells.

Only a few blogs run by Black women are without hate but I won’t name them. Most like STR8OUTANYC and those just starting up follow you guys lead by being mean hoping they will have you success one day.

Now Angel
You know I am one of your blogs biggest fans—I’ve been on here EVERY DAY for at least 2-3 years and I cannot believe she is referring to you! However, I’m not here to tell you how to feel and I think that it’s quite presumptuous on the part of anyone else to tell you not to be upset or that you’re being too sensitive.

With that being said, I have only visited a couple of other gossip sites (Black and White) a handful of times and I cannot handle it…it’s just too much going on and not enough real talk. So I can definitely see where Gabrielle is coming from because I can’t even read the other sites for all the foolishness!!! She is obviously talking about Sandra Rose and ‘nem cuz your blog doesn’t even fall into that category; it’s more like journalism.

But anybody who knows about graceful interviewing knows that you MUST turn the question around to something positive—no matter how negative the subject. She should have ended her rant with a shout-out to the black blogs who are balanced in their reporting and left it at that.

WELL I THINK THERE MAY BE SOME TRUTH BUT IF GABBY DIDNT HAVE HER AZZ UP IN SOME MANS FACE EVERYWEEK THERE WOULD BE NOTHING TO PRINT.

ALSO, IF NIA’S AZZ WASNT FIGHTING WITH THE BABYDADDY HIS WOMAN OR WHOMEVER IT WAS IN PUBLIC THERE WOULD BE NOTHING TO PRINT.

CELEBS GET ON MY NERVES THEY ONLY WANT THE MEDIA ATTENTION AT THERE CONVENIENCE. ALL THAT DAMN MONEY U TAKE THE GOOD WITH THE BAD.

NO I AM NOT SAYING THEY SHOULDNT HAVE SOME PRIVACY BUT PART OF CELEBRITY IS THE GOSSIP. IF IT’S NOT TRUE THEN WHY IS SHE MAD?

I agree with those who believe she was referring to other site, not CL…if anything u all always big her up.

Angel… u should write her a letter…and post her response.

I think she was talking about Sandra Rose.

I think alot of times Gabrielle brings the gossip upon herself. I mean, you really don’t hear much about Saanaa or Nia gossip wise because their low key. You don’t see them at EVERY SINGLE PARTY groping up on celebrity guys like some kind of crazed groupie like Gabby. I mean does she even act anymore? The only time I see her is on the blogs and it’s usually because she’s at some party kissin’ on some new dude.

Look she’s grown and if she rather spend her time party hoping than going to movie auditions and trying to make a name of herself than fine. But don’t go blaming other people for your negative image in the media Ms. “I could have been Mrs. Jason Kidd” when you say stuff like that, people have no choice but to gossip about you!

And hell, gossiping is just a part of life. I’ve been gossiped about plenty of times. We used to gossip in High school and I gossip at work about co-workers, I mean that’s a normal part of life, GET OVER YOURSELF GABBY!! I’m sure she talks about people too!

@ Twintron4

Thank you!!

“But anybody who knows about graceful interviewing knows that you MUST turn the question around to something positive—no matter how negative the subject. She should have ended her rant with a shout-out to the black blogs who are balanced in their reporting and left it at that.”

Basically.

Angel, I wouldn’t worry about those comments. I’m sure Gabrielle wasn’t talking about you and your site. You do a very good job at giving sources and making sure to diffrentiate between what’s news and what’s gossip. She is probably targeting that chick from YBF with those comments. I’ve heard a lot of black female celebrities talk about how disgusted they are with her. I think most black celebrities really respect CL; you probably have nothing to worry about.

Honestly I don’t dislike Gabby Union but maybe, just maybe she wouldn’t get “gossiped about by black people” if everytime u saw her she wasn’t hanging all over a different man :-S
…….I mean does she even act anymore, or does she just go to events

They do look beautiful on the cover.
However, I think Gabrielle was out of line making that generalization…like others have said, Im sure not all “black blogs” are like that. And I love CL, and from what I’ve seen about the way news stories are posted here, Im sure she wasnt talking about this site, although I understand why Angel took offense.
And frankly Im tired of celebrities whining about the gossip about them…ur a CELEBRITY it comes with the territory, get over it…yes every1 is entitled to their privacy but this is an occupational hazard..its like a doctor or lawyer complaining about long hours. I mean, HELLO.
And i’ve heard plenty of celebs, including Bey, saying that they dont even read the blogs cuz they know mess is being said about them…u dont wanna see the crap being written, dont read it. Its very simple.
I hadnt even heard all that crap being said about Gabs, but i do agree with those who have said if u dont want stupid assumptions being made about u, stop traipsing about what a different man in every photo. What do u think is going to happen?

Yall bloggers do sound like a bunch of haters for real. I just think that most of the most popular ones are big, ugly unhappy women that need an outlet. Always talkin about what someone has on or who they are dating. And the thing about alot of these sites is you dont see too many pics of the person that is writing the dirt so THEY can get critiqued! And the response with the attitude really was extra. They are responding so dont get mad, just take it and roll with it. Real Talk, Black women are their own worst enemy and it is sad! But what you gonna do……? Helps the day pass. :)

You all keep getting mad at Gabrielle, saying she should suck it up and express her feelings in a better way. But most of you would probably have the same reaction if you were in her shoes. They are tired of having their lives authored, and being asked questions based on false rumors all the time. She never said ALL black blogs are doing these things, but if people are telling her about things they saw on random blogs, all she can do is generalize. Concreteloop is an amazing blog that I enjoy reading, but everyone in the world does not know about it. She may have been speaking on some other blog. And even if she knew about this blog specifically, you can’t be mad. Despite having other sources, a rumor is still a rumor, no matter where you get it from and if you post it on a popular site, then hey … it’s in the streets now. Plus, Essence asked her a specific question in regard to the situation. They asked and she answered. If that is the way she feels then ok. Love those ladies … and I love this blog. No hard feelings.

I agree with both Gabbie and the young lady who operates this websit!lol! as wierd as that sounds but i do. I can understand from Gabrielle Unions point of view what she means when she says that alot of the redicule comes from our community because it does. The white bloggers do sit outsied of Angelina and Brad’s house and stalk Brittany Spears, but when black people are out and about they barely say shit. They capitalize on a bad mother but dont have shit to say about Solange Knowles, Jada Pinket and other moms who are always with and taking care of their kids. Notice how the normal moms are mostly black!lol! But yea Gabbie sure didnt say no names when it came down to the black bloggers she was talkin bout tho, so i’ll have to be neutral about this situation and agree with everybody. I LOVE EVERYBODY ANYWAY! Oh and to the young lady who covered the story on Gabbie and them lol! I love how you handeled the stuff that was said and didnt get ignorant, that was so very classy of you!

well i’m not sure what gabby is really trying to say however it sounds like she may be thinking black women are hating on her..the truth is if you have ashy feet legs or if your weave aint rite ppl will talk..so what get over it..i know gabby cant be talking about cl bc this site keeps it real..cl is my favorite spot to view whats going on in celebrity news and if cl posts a rumor they let err body know its just a rumor..so maybe gabby is a lil bitter about some news that may have spread about her..but oh well..i still love gabby and all the other women on the cover they looks soooo hawt…

I can only think of ONE black blog that I go to that disses black women the way Gabrielle describes it. Sandra Rose.

– Concreteloop, run by a black woman and co-run by another sister and a black man, doesn’t do that.
– Brownsista is informative and never disses sisters. Run by black women.
– Crunk + Disorderly, run by a sista and co-run by sisters and brothers, I agree that they’re cold but that’s ONLY if they have reasons to, like for example the blond wig and blue eyes of Puffy’s mom. They will talk trash, but WHAT SITE DOESN’T DO IT?
– Young Black & Fabulous or whatever the name is, is run by a black woman and she praises black people most of the time, that’s why she created the site, to big up black folk living the fabulous life.
– Rap-Up just reports the news, nothing negative, run by black people.
– Cake & Ice Cream, run by a sista, helped by brothers and sisters, is POSITIVE!

(Part 2)

As for SANDRA ROSE….. THIS CHICK IS ALONE AND LONELY WHO CARES? Nobody cares about her but a few dozens black folk, why you’re gonna give her the time of the day?? She’s IRRELEVANT!! You mean to tell me of ALLLL the blogs that support you (LISTED ABOVE!!!!!) you’re gonna focus on that nobody and complain to Essence about her? PLEASE! Her blog ain’t even “hot”, people in general are tired of her. Like, 80% of the sisters admire them, I can’t think of one sista around me that doesn’t love them. And the brothers too by the way. But they’re gonna focus on Sandra Rose? Thanks for letting her KNOW THAT YOU CAUGHT FEELINGS, you’re only feeding her ego! DAMMIT!! HOW OLD ARE Y’ALL??

Gabby aint the only actress that shared her feelings, Tamala Jones shared her feelings about rumors too. She called Wendy Williams a Rude Bitch woman with no class. She also called her a little slut who doesnt know by her mouth what she can do to a person’s life

(Part 3 / End) Gabrielle, Sanaa and Nia need to grow up, and THINK before pointing fingers at black blogs for the false rumors and negativity. It was not “US” who started dissing TYRA BANKS on her weight gain. B0ssip and TMZ ARE very BIG and known for their negativity, THEY ARE NOT run by BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!!! They are the BIGGEST LIES of the internet, THEY ARE THE ONES who start false rumors, and they DO care about US, not long ago TMZ was following Megan Good getting out of a club with their cameras, don’t blame black people for this. I’m very disappointed in my 3 favorite actresses.

The picture is beautiful. I know everybody likes to party, but perhaps, Gabrielle, if you kept yourself at home sometimes instead of being at every party in questionable pictures (hello, Boris Khodjoe shots and Duane Wade pics), then PAGE 6 would not have you all up and thru there…

144.

WELL...

Thursday, November 15, 2007 /

I have to agree with Gabby. Sortof. I think CL is actually one of the more neutral and unbiased sites out there, although the comments that people make sometimes are so unecessarily rude and ignorant. Some bloggers really need to put away the curse words and get the dictionary out!) Also seems that there are a lot of black sistas out there blogging who seem to like tearing other black sistas down and then two minutes before, complain that there arent enough sistas in the limelight, taking on more acting roles, being role models etc…..

Come to think of it, i think that compared to all them messed up lindsays, hiltons, olsens and britneys out there, these sistas are actually doing a very good job being role models. Not perfect, no, but they definitely deserve more credit. So what if they have a messed up weave now and again!???! And lets be honest now, II bet the women making derogatory comments about these celebs’ hairstyles cant even talk!

I think that it is very wrong for Gabby to point the finger at black woman as if she think that we envy her or something. I do not have a blog ,but I do post comments on this one ,and this is the only site that I love commenting on ,because you can feel the hate from Fresh, and Sandra Rose. I think that she was including Concreteloop in her comments, but she would not name names ,but down her sisters like this. She is the one who is always at a party freakin on somebodies husband or boyfriend so she needs to have more class.Oh,and she need not worry about bloggers she need to worry about Dwayne Wades wife when catch that azz lol.

While I can understand why you would be upset Angel, can you think about how Gabby feels when someone is putting false stuff about her out here on the internet…. but I also think Gabby needs to be happy that they do have Black Gossip sites or she wouldn’t be in the press at all and no one would even knew she had a movie coming out soon or that she was even on Essence this month until we got to the grocery. I guess I can understand why both of you are mad but I don’t want it to be a bash fest on Gabby Union, although she needs to stop being so sensitive and blaming everything on you Black Women who write these blogs… she’s specifically talking about CL, YBF, and C+D you 3 are the most popular and are all ran by Black women. Be proud Black Gossip Blogs but be careful on what you say about OUR people

I can understand both perspectives (Angel v. Gabby), but at I am somewhat more sympathetic towards Gabby. Although ConcreteLoop is big when speaking of terms of black celebrity blogs, it is still one of many. Lawd only knows how many times she’s seeing herself across the internet with 50 different assumptions made about the same photo, and none of them are true. And I would imagine that it would hurt more coming from a “black blog”. Although gossip and speculation come with being in the industry, I can only imagine what a pain in the butt it is to deal with.
