Basically as a celebrity black, white, hispanic or whatever, one should expect to be talked about. It is sad but true, especially if you aren’t constantly in the news as having a million children or a DUI, people have to make something up. It makes great money for those who are in that line of work (paparazzi, gossip columnist etc.) It goes both ways. Hell I am not famous, but I guarantee you on any day of the week someone will say she’s a snob or I don’t like her shoes, she can’t afford that car or I heard she was dating so and so- I take it in stride and keep it moving! ….so as a celebrity in the spotlight it is to be expected. Just my opinion. I agree with 74-she has not been too terribly portrayed in the media, not yet.

I have to agree that Concrete Loop is def the best Black celeb blog that’s out. Ya’ll are much kinder than Bossip, Crunk & Disorderly, YBF, & Perez Hilton.

To comment on Gabby again, starting a pregnancy rumor can hinder opportunities. Would you wanna hire a pregnant woman for a role that doesn’t involve a pregnancy? Being between jobs is one thing but having a rumor like that feeding into it is another thing.

I agree with Gabby. I read some of the other blog sites and they do make up a lot of rumors. However, I do think concreteloop does a good job with getting things right. So if she did not call you out personally and you know you don’t fit in that category there’s nothing to get all worked up about. Only those blogs with a guilty conscience should have a problem with what she said.

Whatever Gabby. Your comment is so flawed it’s not even funny. White sites don’t care about blacks? Tell me then, why do sites like TMZ, Perez Hilton (an example you so boldly stated), and DListed have categories specifically for black women such as Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, and Beyonce? Are they not black? Are those sites not run by whites? And I too find it oddly convenient how you could list a white site that supposedly doesn’t care about your race, yet you couldn’t list the specific blog that hurt your feelings.

If you haven’t grown your thick skin yet then fine, but don’t generalize an entire population of black blogs when you were only talking about those at the bottom of the barrel, those that actually take rumors and try to make them look like truths without sourcing their information, or even stating the possibility that their information might be false. There are innumerable gossip blogs, and many of them do NOT verify sources, or even have a SOLID trusted source. I believe that she was speaking in general, and not in specific, and it must wear them thin. That doesn’t mean that she was referring to your site, which I can’t read her mind. The only thing major that I have seen on your site in my recent memory was her and that phoine azz man.

It must be frustrating to be the topic of conversation, whether true or untrue. So from a general perspective, yes, it must be difficult to deal with that. I wouldn’t take offense to it, because you know your product and how you perform from a jounalistic perspective, and that’s all that counts.

Now some of those posts can be very mean spirited-not even considering the commenters, but i think she’s paying for it in her own way..and I think when its mean spirited you always pay somebody or something in the end.

Concreteloop is one of the most responsible blogs I know. That’s why I log on to it everyday. It’s updated daily with the most current information. That is true. And I never did say that she was wrong to not express her thoughts. CL is the blog of the people, for the people and by the “black” people so I can see where you may be offended by her umbrella statement. But although you may get your info from other blogs, you still post them here, right? So in essence, if I hear a rumor that someone is gay, and forward that “rumor”, stating that it’s not confirmed, I still passed that nasty unconfirmed rumor to others, who may not check the story, but run with the fact that I said it. Why did I feel it was news worthy, if there wasn’t some hint of truth? Because gossip is messy. It’s meant to be. Only those who care about what Gabby is doing will confirm, everyone else will just say, “that tramp” and have. She certainly doesn’t deserve to be trashed by her people, being that she has worked really hard to put women of color in a positive light. Gabby has yet to play a hooker, drug addict, or anything depicting sisters as anything other strong and supportive, so “we” should give her some love. And you do.

I ONLY read CL, Sandra Rose and YBF regularly and have seen the same stories posted elsewhere too, but it was here (last month) that Gabby was posted with several guys, all with association rumors attached. You may have gathered them elsewhere from vairous sites, but you posted them all here, on this black woman owned site. So in a way, she could be pointing at you. Chalk it up as a fact that she’s reading and paying attention. Now change their opinions.

This site is still respectable and well put together. You do remain neutral and reserve your opinions (except for Kanye) and I support you. There is a difference between how folks like Jill Scott, Halle Berry and Alicia Keys stories are posted in comparison to a Gabby Union or a Rhianna who’s headers read like news alerts.

Black Gossip Blogs are like Drugs to our Community.

And the people who own/operate these Black Gossip Blogs are the Drug Dealers.

Think about it:
Why are you so addicted to ConcreteLoop, and all the other Black Gossip sites ??

Why do you have this incredible urge to know information about the black “stars” and print cruel and hurtful comments about these so called stars that the black community prop up one minute, only to tear them down later on ?

I can understand why a person like Gabrielle Union would be hurt & dissapointed by Black Blogs and the people who own/operate them

Blacks do truely suffer from the “Crabs in the Barrel” mentality.

Hill Harper and Gabrielle Union arrived at the Maxim Style Awards Tuesday night in Hollywood. Guess what the new rumor is now? She is dating Hill Harper. First Dwayne, Luda was next and now Hill? I honestly think people are pulling these items out of their ass. Gabby please set the record straight soon, because these rumors are making you look like a jump off.

Gabrielle isn’t generalizing she’s talking about specific black blogs that she chose not to name. I don’t think Gabrielle was talking about this specific website so I don’t understand why the people behind this website are upset? Gabrielle is obviously talking about certain black blogs. Why would Gabrielle name these black blogs so they can attack her even more? Gabrielle is a sophisticated, talented, beautiful, young black woman that’s working hard in a very racist and sexist Hollywood. Black actresses struggle we should be supporting them instead of tearing them down.

Also Gabrielle has a point the white gossip blogs aren’t following every single move of black celebrities like black gossip blogs. Its not write the cruel and negative rumors that are surfacing about Gabrielle she’s a person to its got to really hurt Gabrielle to read this horrible lies.

Gabrielle is going through a divorce she has no children, she’s not tied to anybody she has her own money. So what’s the problem? Why the double standard? When black men date various people the black blogs do not judge them or criticize their character. Why is it when men are bachelors we are not scorned but if a woman is not married or in a committed relationship people automatically stereotype the lady as loose? soooooo how else are black people supposed to feel good about themselves????? sorry I couldn’t resist. I think we all are guilty on some level from the blogger to the reader. Gossip and negativity is a human flaw. Outright lies are on a total other level. I think your post gives everybody something to think about.

But I think too that some of the success has become a drug for some sites (not including Angel who I maintain is the most responsible black entertainment writer out). I mean look at the money that some of these sites boast about–after some commenters turn on people like Sandra or YBF Chic. The usual retort is “I’m stackin paper”. At what expense though? But as long as the money’s good–its all fair in hate and gossip I suppose.
