Gabrielle Union has always been D-List, but she’s quite F-List right about now because she seems to have never given her craft an iota of thought…She started out as a model…okay…she ventured into acting…and it seems that she isn’t smart about her art, she thinks it’s all visual…the pretty woman says her lines… she’s lame and it’s why she’s been in a series of trashcan movies…and is likely to continue on in that way…

As for the dude doing a workout tape, I think it’s a phenomenal idea…it’s probably going to have stark sexual overtones, but I think lots of women will buy it if he puts video girls in it…because people don’t seem to get that you very much can work yourself into one of those horse bodies…all you need is are weights and a steep incline.

Good…if Essence is no longer black owned, maybe they’ll at least try to present believable fashion in the FASHION SECTION OF THE MAGAZINE! Boy, if you read Essence, you would think black folk wore lace blouses, leather jackets, tulip skirts and little more… How about actually investing in someone with fashion savvy, as opposed to choosing, at random, the most underwhelming, drab trends from season to season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot and will not even pretend to feign some argument against white Hollywood tearing us down. They do. But, ultimately I’m sure we can all agree that Hollywood IS WHITE. It’s THEIR GAME, essentially AND EVEN WE EMBRACE AND ASPIRE TO EUROPEAN NOTIONS OF BEAUTY. So, it’s not really credible, arguing at this point that we’re being done wrong in Hollywood… You know the deal before you get into it, that’s why you study and try to excel (as Angela Bassett has), you try to be a quality actress (as Angela Bassett) is … I didn’t use Halle Berry as an example because she fits the European mold (although you’d be crazy to argue that she’s not leaps and bounds ahead of Gabrielle in the acting department. She is, deservedly, a superstar). I chose Angela, instead, because she is a beautiful woman, a woman apart from the vapid stereotypes, and yet she is successful because she takes her art SERIOUSLY, unlike Gabrielle. Angela is striking and serious as an actress. Look at her. There’s a lesson in Angela Bassett. You don’t become some movie mannequin, an incessant bump on a log until, of course, you bring yourself to some contrived flailing and fluttering or stoic indifference while some man-always some man-professes his wanting to do this or that with you.
