Im not a fan of Ashanti’s but I do like that song on youtube….and she didn’t say ‘baby’ not once (Im shocked) !!! She’s better at her music but her stylist needs to be x’ed and on wilth the next. You said such thoughtful things about Alicia, I hate to blather on about the Halle thing… but…I remember only that someone said something like this: “blah blah blah for example, if you say Halle Berry is average you’re lying and intimidated of her!!!” And, I recall someone else answering the call and saying: yes, to me, she’s average. And, I agreed that if you’re making some myopic comment about the woman’s face being extraordinary you’re the liar…she very much looks like thousands of biracial (white and black) women. BUT, you can NEVER say she doesn’t set herself apart from the pack…she’s got some self-presentation, she’s got some talent and grace…and everything you’d want, as a woman…not a black woman, but as a woman…you’d want to have that sort of presence… BUT, if you’re going to wittle her down to minutia, and say that standing before you naked, you cannot say the woman isn’t comparable to hundreds of thousands of biracial women, YOU ARE THE LIAR. Now, of course I know all of this is empty because BEAUTY IS SUBJECTIVE…but I think everyone ought to be able to discern faces, at least…her face, old and new, is very similiar to other biracial women.

With all due respect, I feel like you people are putting way too much into this. When I read the first comment Anon02 made, they seem not to be directing that at anyone in general, like they said they were just using Halle as an example. I for one did not have a problem with what they said because I am also tired of seeing some black woman down Halle Berry or anyother positive woman in that business for that matter. I laugh when I see people, although very few, say shes average because I have never heard anyone say that about her untill I seen it on the internet. But thats just me. Its easy for people to sit back and say someones average or not when you are sitting at a computer. I for one don’t have a problem that people hold her up in such high regards, but you’d be lying to yourself if you sit there and say that some black woman do not have a problem with her because of how high people hold her up. Especially because shes mixed, some seem to hate that. I’m not saying you have a problem with her, but you know as well as I do some people do. As for tons of black women “hating” on Halle, I DO NOT KNOW ONE…NOT ONE…NEVER, ever. In fact, my mom LOVES her, she thinks Halle is my idol…she calls me with Halle updates (lol). The point is, somebody provoked another to debate, it was not that the person chose to INFLATE THE HALLE COMMENT, THE COMMENT WAS INTENDED TO BE A BOLD STATEMENT and so someone tackled it. (To be honest, though, why can’t some extract a piece of a comment and tackle it? I don’t think there’s anything telling in that, necessarily…except, maybe, the person only found that interesting) It happens all the time…it’s not just about Halle. And, I think the opposite of you (though I understand your assumptions about my own appearance/ self-image): The way I see it, if your’e SO AMAZED that someone could find another WOMAN average (not a CELEBRITY, but a WOMAN) then you’re the person with tunnel vision. Anon, New-Yorker, GEM and “BEYONCE STANS ARE HATERS”. You are basically doing what you are blaming the others for. I mean, it is a website where people can confront their ideas. And even if i think it is not like we were talking about some social issues, we still have an opinion and the same way someone will come here and say someone is a goddess, the same way, the other will come and say she is not. Giving pictures before and after are just made to articulate a point.
Personnaly, I think Halle is average but that does not mean she is not beautiful. Because I see A LOT of beautiful girls outside. They are beautiful because they don’t have any flaws nice noise, nice lips, nice skin, nice hair whatever!! I know every body does not agree, but to me someone who is not average is someone like Tyra, who has tons of flaws like big forehead, big eyes and who is still beautiful cause that kind of flaws can easily turn someone into an ugly chick.
