THE ROUND UP: UPDATE ON TREY SONGZ ARREST / T.I. DROPS THANKSGIVING REQUEST / J.LO FINALLY ANNOUNCES PREGNANCY
Friday, November 9, 2007

Trey Songz says he is contemplating legal action against the Springfield, Massachusetts, police department after he and two members of his entourage were arrested early Sunday morning following a performance at Springfield’s Hippodrome.
Trey spoke exclusively to MTV News and told them what really went down. Read on:
“My homie goes to get one of the police officers to escort us out of there and [someone in the parking lot] started bussin’ [firing a gun],” Songz recalled. “So we started ducking in the car. So my homie runs back to the car and gets in like, ‘They bussin’!’ By the time we look up, we see the police [had] apprehended somebody, so we said, ‘We ain’t finnin’ to wait.’ We got out the car and proceeded to walk, ’cause the hotel is only a block away. The police stopped us and were like, ‘Hold up, hold up.’
Songz said that one officer tried to take down his tall, 300-pound bodyguard but did not succeed, so more officers got involved and took him down.
“It was seven on him, beating his a–,” Songz said bitterly. “He caught it in the back of the head with a nightstick. His face was swollen. His arm was out of place.”
Trey’s MugshotSongz said he too got roughed up after yelling at one of the officers. He said he was angry because he saw a group of white officers laughing about what had just happened, and verbalized his disdain.
“The officers were joking about hitting [us],” Trey fumed. “I was like, ‘Man, y’all stomped my n—a’s face in.’ That’s when they tackled me. It was like four officers on me. One officer had his knee in my throat. They was kicking me in the ribs. Talking to people in that community, they say that thing happens all the time. [ READ MORE ]
T.I. DROPS THANKSGIVING REQUEST

Looks like T.I. won’t get to party with his family and friends this Thanksgiving. The rapper submitted a request to allow others into his home to celebrate the holidays while on house arrest but has since canceled it. Strong opposition from the prosecution played a big role in T.I.’s decision, they’ve taken the stance that the rapper is receiving special treatment. Although each visitor in his home is required to be approved by the courts, his list of 95 people has made it difficult.
T.I. is potentially looking over 30 years in prison if he is convicted of the federal weapons charges he faces.
J.LO FINALLY ANNOUNCES PREGNANCY
You’ve heard the news. Jennifer Lopez is officially pregnant. She and Marc Anthony announced it to her fans on the last stop of their tour. As if we all didn’t know anyway. Check the video above.

For #72 I didn’t say Trey made up his ENTIRE story but yes I do find some of it hard to believe. I NEVER said it was ok for the cops to beat them up or anyone else for that matter. I have seen police brutality firsthand and have been in situations myself where things could go wrong with the cops. As I said I work in an area I hear a lot about the incidents involving police brutality and officers being sued. That is because I handle work in the litigation department for the city. If someone sues the city or the police department I see their suit. So I have seen things you can’t even imagine in regards to police brutality. That’s why I said if Trey sues I can’t wait to see his complaint. Your right the police don’t have the right to use excessive force if someone just talks back to them. But if they ask you to do something in a situation like this and you don’t comply they will use force to get you to comply anyone knows that. And as for me saying no one saw or has come forward to say they saw what Trey described is because I know the area, I have lived here all my life. The club is on Main St. in our downtown, right next to it is a tavern and next to that is our bus station. On the other side of the club is a popular restaurant and across the street is what we call out “entertainment district” which is basically many bars and restaurants and another night club. This isn’t a large city so when I say across the street I mean literally across the street. In the back of the club are a couple of more restaurant and small club like places and behind that is a main road that is used to access the highway. True people were running when shots went off but it’s not like the lot cleared and became a ghost town. With the setup of the area SOMEONE would’ve seen something, that is what I’m saying. And the part about him smiling is an observation I made after seeing him. I’m looking at the situation from a different point of view that’s all and it’s because I’m not just going off Trey word. I know the area, I know the club. I was supposed to go to Trey’s show but thought it might not be appropriate considering I have some ongoing things with the club thru my work. I know when any performer comes to that club due to their history the police are made aware of them and are ready for any problems that may occur due to incidents in the past. That is why they were on the seen so quickly when called for a disturbance there and were able to catch the shooter and why the news was their so quickly to capture it. Also I said TREY didn’t look traumatized when I saw him and he didn’t if something like that happened and he was as hype as he describes don’t you think the news also would’ve captured that? And as for the “don’t you know who i am” line yes blogs are reporting it but i’ve heard this from other people who know firsthand knowledge of the situation too. And yes this happened at night and bruises aren’t always visible but if he was hurt an ambulance was on scene for the shooting victim. So I also wonder if the paramedics asked Kenny if he’d like treatment after sustaining his injuries. See I look at the situation for a different perspective because I have a different set of details.

Aww SHIT #51, I didn’t even see that, lol!!
I don’t know about Trey man, something doesn’t sound right. The story goes straight from “the police stopped us and were like, ‘hold up, hold up’” to “one officer tried to take down his tall, 300-pound bodyguard”… I just don’t see how there was no exchange of any kind before the officer stepped in (to get his ass embarrassed, lol). Sounds like somebody was being…typical…to me. And Trey’s statement doesn’t exactly scream “We handled the situation with the greatest intelligence and tact.” I mean, “Yall stomped my nigga’s face in”? Suuuuuuuure, okay. I’ve lived in Atlanta all my life, and while our city’s (recent) history has not been the same as some towns that are less progressive, we still see our share of racism. It just usually isn’t that simple. …not usually.
