I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. West’s mom, I would like to give my condolences to him and his family.

My prayers go out to Kanye , I know how hard it is to lose a MOTHER and especially one you are close too! I’ve been thru it. I pray that GOD gives him and his family the Strength to carry on like Dr. West would have wanted him to. I am sure she equipped her son with the mentality that know matter what life brings you, you must go on. I know it would be hard but I also Know that is what Dr. West would have wanted is for her baby to be as successful as he can be. You will never Heal but you will be able to cope. I miss my mother daily and it has been 20 years and I was 16 when she passed, I find myself on a regular crying and missing her and questioning why did this happen to me. But GOD knows and has it all in control and ultimately we must realize that.

OMG! I am so sad.. I just heard this this morning on MSNBC. As a single mother of an “only son”, I looked to Ms West as a role model. She was an intelligent, strong, and courageous black woman whose destiny to birth a star will ALWAYS hold special inspiration for me. My heart literally aches for you but I know the bond between a mother and a child is LOVE, STRENGTH, and most importantly FOREVER. I just did an article on death for my psychology class, because i am so obsessed with it. it is like the only thing in life that is guaranteed, and it scares me. i am so afraid of death for me, my family, friends and people around me. i just dont understand. i can only imagine what kanye is going through. how do we deal with death, especially when it is someone close.

Kanye West’s mother dies after surgery

Kanye West’s mother has died at the age of 58 after complications resulting from surgery.

Dr Donda West died in Los Angeles as the result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure, according to the BBC, which cited her publicist, Patricia Green.

The 30-year-old hip hop star’s spokesman said: “The family respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief.”

West is believed to have been in London filming a video for his new song Homecoming when his mother died.

He has made no secret of his admiration for his mother, often bringing her to parties and awards shows and made reference to her on all of his albums.

On his 2005 Late Registration album he raps: “Hey Mama, I wanna scream so loud for you, cuz I’m so proud of you / Let me tell you what I’m about to do, Hey Mama / I know I act a fool, but, I promise you I’m goin’ back to school / I appreciate what you allowed for me / I just want you to be proud of me Hey Mama.”

Although widely known as the mother of Kanye, Dr West had a 31-year career as an English professor, eventually chairing Chicago State University’s English department before leaving academia in 2004 to help manage her son’s career.

In May she published the book Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Star.

Omg i am so shocked and hurt! I feel like I know the west family personally. So I know how hard this most truely be for those who actually knew Dr. Donda West. My condolences to the family and my prayers are lifted upwards.

I didn’t even know her and I’m very hurt by this news. I know that Kanye LOVED his mother and I know he is going through it right now. This is so sad to me. She was not a hoodrat mom that lived off of her child’s success. She was educated and taught her son to be a good young man. I am very saddened by this, and can only imagin how he is feeling. I also feel so blessed to have my mother. I offer My deepest condolences to Kanye and his family. I too lost my grandmother on saturday. It hurts alot to loose someone you love. I can only imagine how you feel kenye and the rest of the family. The way I see my mother right now, I just can’t imagine how I would feel if I lost my mother. I don’t know what to say to console the family. All I can say is pray and know that GOD is always there. He does everything for a reason. He needed your mother in heaven it was her time to go. You are in my prayers.

This is what happens when you have cosmetic surgery unnecessairly. All surgeries are dangerous, why put yourself at such risk for death? It is very sad, she was taken so prematurely over such a silly thing. She didnt need it for a deformity, she wanted it for vanity, and now she is gone. People, be happy with the beauty God gave you, it may not be beautiful to everyone, but you have to find it beautiful to yourself. Nothing is worth loosing your life to change.
