Shayla Stevens, the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader who was allegedly assaulted by Da Brat earlier this month, has hired prominent attorneys Willie Gary and CK Hoffler and their firm, Gary, Williams, Finney, Lewis, Watson and Sperando P.L., AllHipHop.com is reporting.
Gary and Hoffler’s high powered, Florida-based law firm will represent Stevens against not only Da Brat, but Jermaine Dupri’s new nightclub, Studio 72.
“Our client was physically attacked by Da Brat and has suffered significant head injuries, permanent disfigurement as well as mental distress,” Gary said. [SOURCE]

Everybody Hates Chris star Tichina Arnold will take on her first big-screen dramatic title-lead role of her acting career when she stars in the independent film, The Lena Baker Story, about the first woman in the state of Georgia sent to the electric chair.
The 44-year-old African American woman became a virtual sex slave to her white employer and killed him, claiming self-defense.
“The film is a cradle-to-grave story that offers a real perspective on Lena as opposed to just one incident,” writer-director-producer Ralph Wilcox tells the Hollywood Reporter. “Race does play a part, but this story is really about a woman torn between a rock and a hard place.”

I read somewhere that she mistaken the girl for someone she had beef with in the past. Not sure if it’s true but eventually the truth will come out. Even if she did push Da Brat’s buttons, she (Da Brat) should be woman or man enough to walk away from that sh*t. This is her second time, as many have mentioned in earlier posts, and she haven’t forethought the repurcussions.

Da Brat rumors are running crazy. I heard some things outside of the official news story. Well, Da Brat got arrested at JD’s Club 72 in Atlanta for allegedly hitting somebody in the head with a Malibu bottle. I heard the chick’s name is Shyla and she’s a real banger. So bangin’ that she was/is a cheerleader for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. Well, from what I heard she now has a huge scar across her pretty face. Again…this is just what I heard – not what’s been released.
From what I heard, the people that work at JD’s Club 72 sign confidentiality agreements so we probably won’t get any rumors from employees. I wonder if that applies to legal cases?
Anyway, from what I heard, this is all over mistaken identity. Da Brat thought this Shyla babe was somebody else, somebody she had a beef with. Some of you might have heard – like I did – that Brat was trying to holla at her and it didn’t go well. I don’t know, but I think that’s false. Anyway, what I think or hear doesn’t even matter, does it? Another rapper in legal trouble…WOW…is anybody sick of it the way I am?

Woman Allegedly Assaulted By Da Brat Hires Attorney Willie Gary

Shayla Stevens, the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader who was allegedly assaulted by Da Brat earlier this month, has hired prominent attorneys Willie Gary and CK Hoffler and their firm, Gary, Williams, Finney, Lewis, Watson and Sperando P.L., AllHipHop.com has learned.
Gary and Hoffler’s high powered, Florida-based law firm will represent Stevens against not only Da Brat, but Jermaine Dupri’s new nightclub, Studio 72.
“Our client was physically attacked by Da Brat and has suffered significant head injuries, permanent disfigurement as well as mental distress,” Gary said.
Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, allegedly struck Stevens with a 1.7 liter bottle of rum during a shoving match in the club in the early hours of November 1.
According to Gary, Stevens has suffered permanent injuries to her face, as well as possible neurological damage.
Additionally, she will miss upcoming games as cheerleader for the Falcons, as well as a scheduled role on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne sitcom.
“Ms. Stevens is a cheerleader, choreographer, dancer, actress and entrepreneur, whose career has been greatly affected by this incident,” Gary said.
Gary, who is nicknamed “The Giant Killer” for his judgments against corporations, is noted for winning a $240 million jury verdict against Walt Disney, for stealing his clients idea for a theme park.
He also claims that the owners of Club 72, hesitated to contact police due to the negative publicity the assault would cause.
A manager who witnessed the assault allegedly failed to help Stevens seek proper medical attention and she was eventually taken to the hospital by a family member.
Gary also said that prior to the assault, club owners and security had the opportunity to remove Da Brat from Club 72, but failed to do so.
Da Brat was charged with aggravated assault. She was released on $50,000 bond as a result of the incident.
The details are technically relevant but REALLY…This is the Brat’s second time doing this and besides when is the last time one of you or I have hit someone in the head with a bottle over any misunderstanding! Throw the book at her ass and I hope shayla puts her in the red!

Thanks for the information(i got educated) on Lena Baker – never heard of this lady before – but another sad chaper in america’s history. Somehow I don’t know if I’d want to see the movie.

That is horrible about Lena Baker. The family/descendents need to press for a posthumous retrial or appeal to have her conviction overturned so that her name will be cleared because she was truly a victim of repeated rapes and abuse as opposed to being a murderer. Seen this movie last weekend. It was a great performance. But a horribly depressing story. I felt so bad for Lena. Nobody deserves something like that, but she never had a chance. God bless her soul.
