Tia Mowry, 29, is covering the newest issue of Jet Magazine this week. The actress spoke candidly about how she is constantly trying to step out of that ‘child actor’ box, her relationship with fiancé, Cory Hardict and more. Here are some snippets I typed up for the CL readers.

TIA ON BEING GROWN
“I am a grown woman. I’m almost 30 years old and I want to be portrayed as that. I don’t want people to freeze me at 14. I want to move forward in my career. I think I’ve worked too hard to let people know that I am not that little girl that you’re used to seeing. I can take on challenging roles. I want to continue to push myself and make myself a better actress.“

“There have been lots of times that Tia and I have auditioned for the same role. We’re very different actors. I was very, very happy for her [when she got the role on 'The Game'] and think she is doing a fabulous job. I don’t think anyone else could play that role better than she can, including me.“

“Cory and I, we are so happily in love. He is my best friend and mentor. My fiancé is [also] an actor. I’m always there for him. I’m always supporting him on his auditions, coaching him and being there for him emotionally.“

Tia is a great actress, and “The Game” has definitely improved since last season. She is a sexy as hell woman. I want to see how her character, Melanie, and Dionne try to co-habitate, and Derwin…….. he fucked up.

I like Tia, but I agree those photos for JET look horrible she looks as if she has on entirely too much make-up. Her and her fiance look really happy. Tia and Tamera are beautiful women and I wish them great success. The Game has grown on me but I feel that they are portraying her as being very immature now to say she is a med student.

I luv Tia!!!!! I have to say when “The Game” first came on she was a little rough around the edges but the she got better over time. I didn’t want to give up on the show because the script was great. Congrats to her!!!!

Tia looks absolutely beautiful, and I agree with poster# 74 100%. Also, Tia did have the same mole on her face as Tamera, but when they were doing Sister Sister the fans couldn’t tell them apart so they use to cover Tia’s mole with makeup. She may have had the mole removed now though.
They are such pretty girls and “The Game” is my show. I can’t wait to see how things unfold with her and Derwin. I love her man show “Lincoln Heights” too. Anyway glad to see them succeeding in life.

Nonetheless.I can’t believe that Tia is 29. Wow. She definitely is grown. And yeah, I guess, it is hard for her to get grown-up roles. I mean, before “The Game,” the last show that she was on was “Sister, Sister.” So, I guess, because that was our last impression of her and because she looks exactly the same, it’s hard for people to take her seriously as a nearly 30-year-old woman.
Even so, I wish her much success in her life and relationship.

I love the Game and Girlfriends and take no calls when they are on. It’s painstaking to have to wait an entire week. I hope Tia appears in a Tyler Perry movie next.

It’s AMAZING to see how much these two have grown up. It’s really great to see them (well Tia moreso on account of The Game) back in the limelight. I ADORE Sister Sister it was one of my top shows of the 90′s. I was (and still am) so sad it ended. Really hope they do a one-off feature length or something to show what the girls, as well as Lisa, Ray, Roger, etc are up to (and maybe a DVD release!).
I understand they’ve been in college so that explains why they were out of the spotlight for a while between the wrap up of Sister Sister and now. Great to see Tia growing up. Those twins are BEAUTIFUL dont look 29 at all. Wonderful how she doesnt wanna be boxed into the same role cause The Game (before the Writers’ Strike) was really heating things up for her. Hopefully Tamera will get her big-break as a solo actress soon.
