VIDEO: LUPE FIASCO FEAT. MATTHEW SANTOS - SUPERSTAR

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

New video from Lupe Fiasco, and it’s along the same lines as what a lot of rappers are doing, spitting about fame, money, glory, etc. I really like this song. You may remember, I posted this in a the new music review a couple of months ago. I’m glad that it’s starting to get spins, ‘cuase I think it’s a great records.

he is not spittin about money and fame from a first person point of view….if you follow Lupe’s music you’ll know that this song is about a character from his last record on a song called “The Cool”. Its about this huslter who comes back from the dead. Lupe’s new album is also called “The Cool” which is a concept album based of the song of the same title…i strongly recommend buying his old cd or at least the song “The Cool” , because this video/ song “superstar” will make SOOOOO MUCHHH more sense…SIDEBAR pay attention to the character in the video when he has a skeleton hand..that is major foreshadowing from the song…educate yourselves with a lil Lupe…
Peace in Darfur*

the lyrics are very different from what the “i have money, cars,a nd hoes” rappers are giving us. lyrically, lupe is killing a lot of ppl right now. doesn’t hurt that he’s absolutely adorable

I agree with most of the posts here, This is not your everyday-run-of-the-mill rapper, spitting about fame, money and girls. This is a GREAT song, with interesting characters talked about in a great story format. I haven’t been into many rap artists as of late, (I am an 80’s babies to the core, who loves 90’s HIPHOP), but I really like Lupe, he’s is as dope as they come these days.

I understand the video, and it on some levels it is tight…but I think it could have been better. It wont further the songs popularity any and thats a shame b/c its a great song! FNF UP!!!

I agree with # 7 (Summer07). I noticed “The Cool” concept too. That was slick how he incorporated it into his video, espcially since he didn’t make a video for The Cool.

Does anyone know if he’s doing any shows/tours? I would love to see him perform live.

I love Lupe’s music. His Food and Liquor album is still in my ipod, unlike the many other albums that I’ve deleted since then. Currently, him and Nas are the only rappers that I can actually say that I’m a fan of. I loved Nas even during his Oochie Wallie phase. LOL. Lupe did an radio interview in my city last weekend. I was mad that I caught the tail end of it. Long Live Lupe!

I think you or somebody missed the actual point of this song. It’s not about fame money and glory. But I dont why Lupe’s videos are so terrible. He need to start working with new/ better directors who have better lyric to visual skills.

Lupe’s hella fresh. The video is cool and you don’t have to religiously follow Lupe to understand the lyrics, maybe the video though

Luv Lupe Fiasco and definitely love this song!!! The video is cool. I’m just glad someone like Lupe (along w/ Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Little Brother) is on the scene so that I can continue listening to hip-hop.

And thanks Summer07 for dropping some knowledge.

TrailBlazer, Lupe is doing some shows. I just went to see him at UMass Lowell. He might just be hitting up colleges though. If you do catch him, you will NOT be disappointed. He is entertaining and hilarious.

of course you would say its corny…Anyway…im not SURE how this will incorporate into the The Cool concept but Im sure once the album drops and i hear more i will know…like Lupe said, his first album was the experiment…the new drop is gonna be the one to stimulate your senses..not that the first one didnt…but anway…i did peep the the character from the cool on the red carpet…i thought he might be younger but hey…hes been underground for a minute haha…cant wait for this album…should be an exciting listen…CONCEPT albums need to make a comeback..
