Good list! I personally can’t wait for Brandy to drop some new hotness, especially now that it’s been confirmed that she will not be charged for the car incident last year! She always brings the heat, but I’m expecting even bigger things this time around because of everything she’s been through this year. B-Rocka forever!

I will definitely NOT be surprised if Beyonce drops another album this year. She has a chokehold on the industry, but with so many females coming for her title in 2008, her team knows they can’t let that grip loose! One day she is gonna HAVE to take a break, but I doubt it’ll be any day soon.

Go back to the drawing board Nas. Shocking album titles (i.e Hip Hop is Dead) arent going to help you sell albums. The music needs to make people wanna invest in you again since you have fallen off.

By the time you get to Erykah’s picture at the end of page 1 you’re literally stunned at how beautiful all the women look!
Anyway, back to more cynical talk (lol) I just wasn’t with everyone on the “Mariah in ‘05″ bandwagon. I thought the album was illiterate, superficial garbage…especially in comparison to her other albums. Butterfly is my favorite from her and the songs are in another league…the stuff on “The Emancipation of Mi Mi” can’t even compare…it wasn’t Mariah to me in ‘05, at all.. I still think she has the best voice in the world.
LOVE Tweet, I cannot express how much I do but I REFUSE to accept these obvious pop-driven records…they aren’t her…I don’t like them…The one with TI was on the radio a couple of weeks ago…I never expected her to actually release that garbage. I hate this song too and it’s stuff like this…SMH…it’s why I have never heard her last CD…it drove me crazy that Missy was in “Turn the Lights Off” and the remix with 50 Cent literally made me cringe, so I cut off my nose to spite my face and didn’t buy it. She’s soooooo much better than this. Brian, will you dig and see if you can uncover the unreleased “Smoking Cigarettes” video? I know she shot it, I’ve seen the stills…

As for predicitions: Erykah and John will be successful, Mariah will have moderate success, Usher will debut strong but fall away quickly…Whitney, Letoya, Ashanti, Janet, Brandy, Nas, and Tweet (sadly) won’t even get off the ground.

hasn’t Janet been trying to comeback since 2003? I am sorry, but when you have weak vocal skills, you need to fall back. this is not a Mariah Carey who has the talent to back up her comeback. Janet cannot sing that is why she is constantly showing offer her body to distract people. Mariah may show off her body also, but at least she has the vocal ability to shut up her critics. Janet should stick to acting and leave the singing to the real talents. she was able to get away with it when she was younger because people were impressed by her image and videos, but now she looks like she is trying to hard!

Very nice list made up of some great artists…granted I didn’t listen to all of the songs… (Nas and John Legend because I don’t really listen to their music)…but I wasn’t as impressed by the other other artists as much as I hoped I’d be. Letoya song isn’t that bad…I could give it a second listen…and I really enjoy Brandy’s music but this song was just okay for me…didn’t care much for Tweet’s song although I think she has an amazing voice…and as for the others…they were all okay for me as well…but overall I’m willing to give them all a second listen…

The are just releasing new albums if you ask me. They haven’t been gone long enough or even that relevent to be making a “comeback”.

Beyonce and Ciara in ‘06 were definitley not comeback albums either. Just sophmore releases.
They weren’t at a “comeback” point in they’re careers yet.

I almost want to say that Mariah isn’t really doing a “comeback” either this time round. Her last album was the “comeback” album. This one is just a regular new album to me that will sell well. She already made her statement with “Mimi”.

Wow some you guys are harsh on my girl B-Rock!…well I think she is going to have a good comeback because Brandy IMO doesn’t fall short on the albums..yes she might not have a gigantic voice..but her bravado and melodic voice is smooth over the music..I have to agree that certain Timbaland beats drowned her voice out.but I think that was one Tim’s best projects since Aaliyah died..he was just doing alot of hip-hop than R&B..but I can’t wait until this album drops sounds like Spicy Creole is going to have some competition!

I know you love Brandy because I do but some of those songs the engineer didn’t bring Brandy’s vocals out on the track so Timbaland’s beats overshadowed her voice…it happens *shrugs*..and no I’m not comparing Aaliyah and Brandy because they are two different artist that I love..you started to compare them..because they both have worked with Tim..I think their singing approaches on the record is different.I love Brandy’s singing style..she effortlessly sings I agree..but come on I gave her more credit than some did on here..lol

I’m am so looking forward to new music by Mariah, Brandy, Usher and Erykah. If Beyonce releases toward the end of ‘08, then all the better a year for music!

I want Mariah to come a bit better than “Emancipation.” I enjoyed it, but it was formulaic and way beneath her talents. Please no more of the same old canned Jermaine Dupri or Brian Cox beats. I swear they use the same two fingers on the drum machine for ALL their songs.

Brandy usually pulls together a well-conceived, consistent album, plus I just want to hear if and how she has grown over the last few years.

Usher is always welcome in my book — great voice, great performer — if he can manage to keep things fresh he can be very successful. He’s always going have work in the industry because he can actually put on a show.

Erykah — she’d have to come up with something absolutely horrible in order for me to NOT buy the album.

And yeah, I’m gonna throw in Beyonce because rumor’s are that she’ll be dropping in 08 — can’t wait for her to take it to a new level. Album #2 was completely different from Album #1, so we know she doesn’t get lazy. She’s talented and creative enough to come with another hot project.

Hopefully the above people who can actually sing and perform are enough to make up for the Rihannas, Fergies and Ciaras we’ve been subjected to recently. (Couldn’t care less about Janet or Letoya — stale.)

All these songs were mediocre to me. The Janet song sounded a tad too much like “Breaking Dishes” by Rhianna. Well, the beat sounded very familiar to me.
There isn’t much good music out there right now. I do hope that some fresh faces come out with new and exciting projects.
