Another year of red carpet stunners, blunders, and “oops, that almost slipped out” has passed by with no injuries. Infact, some of entertainment’s most noteworthy stepped their wardrobe game in ’07, and developed individual styles to set themselves away from the rest.
So without further ado, here is a list of this year’s best dressed black star power…
RIHANNA – 07′s “IT” GIRL
Rihanna was also my pick for “most improved” in 2006, and she definitely progressed in 2007. The singer not only took over the charts with “Umbrella”, but she took over the red carpet wherever she appeared. With her new edgy haircut, she had girls everywhere heading to the salon. Her model physique and her punk-glam style combined set her apart from any other female artist in her league. Not to mention, she was also our first feature for ‘Star Style’ earlier this year.
HALLE BERRY – 07′s STYLISH MOM-TO-BE
Halle Berry was one of many ladies in Hollywood to be expecting in 2007. Though most of the Mothers-to-be had their own stylish ways of outfitting their pregnancies, Berry vavavoomed whenever she stepped on the carpet. Her outfits already flattered her body before she started showing…and even flattered her more after!
NIA LONG – 07′s STYIN’ SECRET
Nia Long did not make many appearances in 2007, but when she did – she came with a smokin’ hot bang. Nia Long may be getting older, but she is not at all aging – and her classy and sexy style shows that off well.
KERRY WASHINGTON – 07′s FASHIONISTA
Kerry Washington has always been on top of things when it came to her looks, and she continued to be a style star this year. Looking at her unique and different styles from appearance to appearance, its obvious that Kerry is an admirer of all things high fashion. She no doubt, holds the reign of 2007′s fashionista.
COMMON – 07′s BEST DRESSED MALE
This was a great year for Common and his new album Finding Forever, and I really got a sense of him through fashion for the first time in 07′. Common displays his own individuality with not only his music, but his style as well – from his suit game to his casual gear.
JENNIFER LOPEZ – 07′s CARPET FAVORITE
Jennifer Lopez is one latina that will dress her butt off, and she made no mistakes this year. Though she is now still looking great as another Mom-to-be in 08′, she was killing the carpet way before her pregnancy in 2007.
KANYE & ALEXIS – 07′s FLY’EST COUPLE
We all know the Louis Vuitton Don does his thing in the fashion game, but when his girl Alexia Phifer steps up with him – they take over. With a designing girlfriend and fashionisto boyfriend, it’s only natural right?
Rhi’s been dressing her ass off!
I love Nia’s style.

I agree with everything/everyone except about Queen Latifah. Her bad wig choices around the time she was promoting Hairspray? There was no excuse for that!!!

Great post and I can honestly state that I agree with every choice for the best dressed in fashion this year. I hope that next year my girl Tracee Ellis Ross, will be on there because she is one of the best dressed in Hollywood.

The list looks good. But Rhianna did not start a trend with that hairstyle. It’s an old style that’s been out for years; and many other celebs have been rocking that hairstyle before her.

I say this list is 95% right……i love fashion! I got so many MASTERCARD giftcards for christmas and i love it! I’m waiting until this weekend to go spend it all. I wish i could borrow Rhi’s stylist to go shopping with.

I disagree with the Queen Latifah one, I don’t think she looks good in any of these pics. Kanye and Alexis always look like the compliment each other, looks hot!

I loved Common’s look this year. Not sure if Jay-Z was really that deserved. Hov always looks nice but I’m a little tired because I feel like he does the same looks over and over. However, he was very much in the spotlight and I can’t think of anyone that out-did him. Loving Alexis & Kanye for the couple pick. They are adorable!
I agree with your pick for Queen, she has constantly represented. There aren’t a lot of big girls on the carpet who can look classy and stylish like she can. For example, how many times have we laughed at Mo’Nique’s country ass!!!
I would love to see more of Nia, Halle & Kerry. They’ve popped up on Concrete Loop a lot this year and I hope it continues. Oh & I’m with the girl who was voting for Tracee. She’s definitely a bad chick…

This is a great post and all of the celebrities deserve to be on the list. For Queen Latifah to be plus-size, she sure does rock dress that compliment her figure. It seems likes ifs kind of hard for big girls to do that especially Jennifer Hudson.
Jay-Z swagger does look good except for when he sags his pants. I hate when he does that, he is almost 40 and still sagging and I think that is ridiculous. Other than that his style game is on point.

Hey y’all – for Best Dressed Male I was expecting to see T.I. That man’s swagger has just been ridiculous this year. Common is hot, too – I especially like his casual looks. rihanna didnt have u goin in the salon but she did with the majority of the girls. come to barbados and u will see a lot of girls askin fuh the rihanna haircut. we all know she didnt invent the cut but she brought it back in 2007 and everyone went crazy for it. i have a cousin in atlanta and she told me that girls are comin in her salon wantin the same rihanna haircut. it is in america too. other celebs had the cut but they didnt influence anyone to get it until rihanna came along. the girl has mad style.
