2007 was definitely a year for WTF (WHAT THE F*CK) moments. From Imus to Polow Da Don, many celebs had us scratching our heads and yelling out WTF at our computer screens. This year had so many crazy moments to pick from that I had trouble compiling my list, but here it goes – Concrete Loop’s Top WTF Moments of ’07!
RAZ B & CHRIS STOKES SCANDAL
I already started compiling my list before the Raz B and Chris Stokes controversy hit the net on Christmas Eve, but it’s safe to say this whole thing takes the cake as the top WTF moment of 2007. With only a few days left in ’07, these allegations and cries of molestation took the internet by storm (and are continuing to do so).

DON IMUS – “NAPPY HEADED HOES“
Next up, the whole Don Imus controversy. Back in April of ’07, the popular radio show host was giving his commentary on a recent college basketball game and got a little too comfortable and spoke the now infamous words. Yep, he had the nerve to call the whole Rutger’s Womens Basketball team “Nappy Headed Hoes” (among other things). His comment stirred up so much debate on the internet and beyond that he was forced out of his job at CBS.
He eventually went on to apologize to the team and only 6 months after the whole incident went down he got a new gig with another radio station. Go Figure! Let’s just hope he learned his lesson, I’ll guess we’ll see in ’08.
RAY J & KIM K.’S SEX TAPE
Even though I hate to admit it, Ray J and Kim Kardashian’s sex tape was actually a hot topic on CL earlier this year. Even though the video was lackluster at best, this didn’t stop Ray & Kim from getting their grind on. Kim has her own reality show now and Ray J is still trying to release mixtapes.
The duo has since broken up and moved on to new relationships (Kim is with Reggie Bush and Ray J has been linked to everyone from Whitney Houston to Lil Kim). Not that bad for sucking and … aww let me stop.
AKON & HIS INCIDENTS
Check out Akon and the infamous club romp session that lost him major endorsement and shame worldwide. The singer/producer was caught on camera bumping and grinding with a 14 year old (unbeknownst to him) in a Trinidad club back in April and those photos were leaked all over the internet. Come to find out the girl lied about her age to get into the club and get this she was actually a preacher’s daughter. WTF!
This wasn’t Akon’s only incident this year. He is currently being sued for throwing a 14 year old off the stage at a concert and injuring a fan. What is up with this dude and teenagers? Looks like he is going to be paying out some money in ’08.
DIDDY’S SON & THE LAP DANCE
Speaking of lap dance’s who could forget that crazy photo of Diddy’s 12 year-old son, Justin Combs, getting a lap dance from a grown-ass woman!? The above photo was heavily talked about and Justin’s mother, celebrity stylist Misa Hylton, made sure to let the world know that she didn’t take this situation lightly. Here is what she said back in February:
“It’s so crazy. These teens think that it’s nothing, like it’s dancing,” Hylton told Miss Info. “But this is big problem for Justin. Real big. I don’t play that at all.” [SOURCE]
That woman in the photo should have been slapped senseless for dancing on a 12 year-old. She know that was wrong!
REMY MA’S ALLEGED SHOOTING
Remy Ma definitely made a name for herself this year with the shooting incident that went down back in July. Remy’s best friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph was hit twice in the stomach and claimed Remy is the one who did it.
Rumors and more rumors came out about the shooting and many people claimed the incident stemmed from some missing money – 2,000 bucks to be exact. WTF?! Last I heard, Makeda was suing Remy for 10 million dollars in a civil lawsuit. Not sure if Remy is worth that much, but good luck anyway.
SPORTS DRAMA – MIKE VICK & MARION JONES
At one time Michael Vick and Marion Jones were popular in their respective sports fields, but ’07 came around and that all ended real quick!
Mike was caught up in that dog fighting scandal and is now serving 23 months in prison (shakes head) and ya girl Marion Jones admitted that she used steroids during her 2000 Olympic takeover, resulting in the forfeiture of all her medals. Talk about some let downs; I’m still mad at these two.
EDDIE MURPHY & MEL B – YOU ARE THE FATHER!
After months and months of denying it, it was announced back in April that Eddie Murphy was in fact the father of Melanie Brown’s babygirl, Angel Iris Murphy Brown. The actor talked trash about Mel and even claimed he didn’t know who the father was in a random T.V. interview late last year.
Word has it he has yet to meet his newest offspring. He know he wrong!
POLOW DA DON RUNNIN’ HIS MOUTH
Another highly talked about topic on CL this year was Polow Da Don and his comments on black women. The popular producer was under a fierce fire back in August for his chauvinistic and egotistical statements. Take for example:
I have nothing against black women, but they’re raised differently. White women are raised to respect and serve their men. Black women are taught to question [their men]. [ read full quote ]
This quote prompted the producer to respond in a follow up interview with All Hip Hop. He admittedly stood by what he said and had the nerve to call himself the “Prince of White Girls.” WTF!!
ISAIAH & ‘GREY’S ANATOMY’ CONTROVERSY
Isaiah Washington was the talk of many blogs late last year when it was reported that he called his cast mate a “faggot” while on set. The situation seemed somewhat resolved when Washington issued a statement & apology for his “unfortunate use of words.”
Little did we know that in January of ’07 Washington would think it was smart to use the word again at an Golden Globes press conference. WTF?! The actor was forced to attend rehab and film educational advertisments only to find out he contract didn’t get renewed with ABC. Ouch! Last I heard, he was working on the ‘Bionic Woman’ show.

SHAQ & SHAUNIE CALL IT QUITS
Who would have thunk it?! Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie O’Neal, the seemingly happy couple called it quits and filed for divorce in ’07. Everyone proclaimed that “they looked so happy” but as we all know, looks can be deceiving.
With rumors of secret bank accounts and affairs with personal trainers, I almost thought a soap opera was going to pop off. Last I heard the couple was “reconciling” but by the looks of these photos, I don’t think it’s going that easy.
juanita bynum attacked BY HUSBAND
In August of this year, Juanita Bynum met with her husband Thomas Weeks at an Atlanta area hotel hoping to reconcile their stormy relationship. Little did she know he would lose his mind and attack her.
According to reports, Weeks choked, slammed, stomped and kicked Bynum and threatened to kill her. He then fled the scene and was considered a fugitive for three days until turning himself.
Bynum is now speaking out against Domestic Violence and was recently the cover model for Essence Magazine.
DOG’S RACIST RANT
Dog The Bounty Hunter ended his reign as A&E’s top rated show when his taped racist rant was released to the public. The former reality star used racial slurs and sounded like a straight fool when he spoke about his son’s new girlfriend, who happens to be black.
He went on a nationwide clean-up, talking with everyone from Al Sharpton to Larry King in an effort to clear his name. I say give it another 5 or 6 months and his show will be back in rotation. Hey, if Imus got away with it, you know The Bounty Hunter will!
DIDDY’S OTHER CHILD
Earlier this year rumors started to circulate about Diddy fathering another child while he was still with Kim Porter. Those rumors were confirmed when Sarah Chapman was name dropped as the baby mama of Diddy’s other daughter. Diddy even publicly announced that he would take care of the child and she would never want for anything. With all these illegitimate kids running around, at least one knows who her father is.
NAOMI STRUTS TO COMMUNITY SERVICE
Forget busting people in the head with Blackberry’s! Naomi made some blog headlines earlier this year for rocking designer threads for her community service stint in NYC. The top model used this normally shameful encounter to plug her favorite designers for a special article in W magazine. Must be nice to be a celeb!

The Chris Stokes situation is a mess, like you I only hope the truth comes out. Ray J needs to do something else besided pimp Kim K, what a horrible ex-boyfriend he is, but the lesson learned is that you don’t videotape! Imus should’ve kept his job. I think the worst by far was the Chris Stokes scandal. I believe Raz B but as we all know, money is power… he has all these high priced lawyers and is able to intimidate the man into giving a false apology. I feel for Raz-B, Ricky, and all of Chris’ victims. Sexual abuse is such a taboo subject – it makes it hard for the victims to speak out. Female victims of male molesters have a hard time with this, so I can only imagine how difficult it must be for male victims of male molesters. Sexual abuse is not consensual, doesn’t make you gay/a hoe/stupid, or any other label others want use for the victim. IT IS A CRIME! Even thoug Raz-B has backed down from his accusations, I commend him from having the courage to step forward in the first place. Ricky – continue to speak out, and support your brother!
