Guys are stepping up their accessories game and rocking scarves hard this season. This trend is pretty evident if you look at all males in entertainment – Kanye of course (who started the trend on the black carpet), Omarion, Lupe Fiasco, and Jay-Z are some of the guys who like to add a scarf to their look.
I noticed some time ago when David Beckham showed his scarf swag, letting folks know that this trend isn’t all for the ladies. I think the look is a go and shows that guys can be a little versatile with their wardrobe.

Here are a few I found online, mostly at ASOS and Urban Outfitters. They have some of the basic patterns and skull scarves you may see a lot of. If you’re the alpha male that wants to step it up with some designer scarves, visit fruition for some vintage, yet hot Gucci, Chanel, and YSL wrappers.

I think that shit is ugly but it wouldnt hurt to give it a try tho
Scarfs are all the biz.
Jay and Mario and whomever that is in the pick next to Mario are rock’n it to the hilt.
different!
@ 2
Yep Scarves are the biz right now! I love them though
There isn’t really much that men can do with fashion so the scarf swag…..why not. They can only express themselves in so limited ways through clothes unless their gay/drag queens lol.
Noooooooooo !!!!
Go Jay my boo I am not feeling to scarves look to each it’s own
I don’t like the scarf around the neck. It looks GAY.
But I like how Lupe is rockin’ his. It doesn’t look all that bad.
I like the way that Mario rocked the scarf. But Jay and everyone else in the top row look like some bandits – Definately NOT HOT.
They look like bandits getting ready to pull a job.
I DONT LIKE THA SHIT
PLUS MEN BEEN WEARING SCARFS FOR YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all pictured are suspect, no real hood figga would be caught dead……
Oh thats Lupe?!
I thought that was a young, old Wesley Snipes……my bad. I do like how he is wearing that scarf.
I love to see a business man in a scarf with an “overcoat” on. HOTNESS!!!!
i’m with #8, I think the look is gay but I think Lupe looks good in it. Omarion looks super gay they way he is cheesing. Mario got a bed sheet wrapped around his neck.
That ish looks GAY! Though not as gay on Lupe for some reason…
LoL I’m feeling the scarf look on Lupe, the rest .. the jury is still out on that.
Oh Mr. Fiasco!
I guess guys necks get cold too.
Looks corny. would rather a nice fleece, wool or cotton scarf on a dude. they are one step away from wearing ascots.
That is GAY
Why, why, why and where do these trends come from?
(straight) Men don’t need this sort of embellishment- it makes them look feminine.
Btw- Jay could play Andre Leon Talley if ever a role comes up, lol.
Omarion looks like a ghetto Taliban member.
I got the pink one in the middle. I been rockin them things since the spring. I love my scarfs I got like 5, lol.
Noboby can rock it like Kanye though. Jay look like he bout to trail to Sadi Arabia or something
I like the idea of a guy accessorizing in a masculine way. This could totally be an upgrade for some guys that wear the same old thing day in and day out…the basic polo and jean/slack combo. I think that it’s time that guys get something new to add to their wardrobes and everyday attire and the fact that it’s simple yet noticiable makes it even better.
THE SCARF TREND IS NOT BAD BUT THEY SHOULD KEEP IT SIMPLE CUZ THE SCARFS DONT REALLY MATCH THE OUTFITS ,(STRIAGHT MEN) GUYS ,IF U GONNA WEAR THE SCARF ,KEEP IT SIMPLE OR YOU’LL END UP LOOKIN GAY OR LIKE A DRAG QUEEN!
BUT APART FROM THAT THE SCARF IS CUTE ,IT GIVES MEN MORE OF A CHOICE OF WHAT TO WEAR OTHER THAN PLAIN WHITE T’S N JEANS
I LIKE IT AS LONG AS THEY DON’T GET TOO CARRIED AWAY
I don’t think it looks gay at all. why do fashionable dudes have to look “gay”? I dont understand the logic behind that but whatever. I think they look nice. You know what I think looks “gay”? Dudes who 3 years ago were wearing baggy jeans hangin off their asses and are now rockin tight ass nuthuggers that hang off their asses. lol wearing a trend from head to toe with no individuality is “gay”.
Men need to be very careful with the fashion style that they are attempting to emulate.
Those particular scarves pictured above are very homosexual looking.
It’s one thing to wear a solid color scarf underneath you overcoat, worn in a masculine fashion (worn around the neck with NO outlandish display)
The scarf’s pictured above are too loud and worn in a gay like manner.
Real men are not trying to draw attention to themselves.
We just blend in.
I am not feeling the scarf swag on Jay, Omarion or Kanye. It looks too….I dunno – ride ‘em cowboy John Wayne’ish.. lol
I do however; like how Mario and Lupe are wearing theirs. *two thubs up*
Nobody rocks a scarf like my man Kanyeezy! But DAMN! Lupe is close! Little nerdy ass. OH I love him!
The word Man and Accessory should not even be in the same sentence…
MEN don’t wear accessories.
that’s sounds very gay….Men steping up their accessory game.
thumbs*
GO OUT AND GET MARIO CD. YOU WILL LOVE IT.
This is why I try to stick to what is familiar, not a single one of these brothers look right rockin those scarfs, it just looks ridiculous!!!
they are gay women wear scarfs like that not men.
BOW WOW BOO LOOK SUPER EXTRA GAY
Bill, I think ur overdoing it.. lol
I do think the way they are wearing them and the style of the scarves SHOWN are feminine.. Its not cute to me.. They may as well carry a purse or whatever (some probably already do i.e. the “bookbag” thing[Kanye])
However, men STAY accessorizing, whether it b a skull cap, fitted cap, chains, watches, WHATEVER.. All that ish is for decoration purposes only most of the time.. I’d be surprised if half of these watches on these dudes even work…
I know Common and Dre 3000 and Johnny Depp and others have been doing it for years and I know the dadny boy trend in the UK was Kanye’s influence but it doesn’t change the fact that Kanye is such a big personality and the B-boy meets coffeehouse look is so HIS THING… everybody pictured is basically rocking Kanye’s style…This is that man’s style…it’s like everybody got wardrobe from the “Can’t tell me nothing” video or something…I can’t believe they’re so demonstratively copying…I don’t like these new things we’re doing with fashion…men never wore trends lol it’s really absurd if you think about it…men are such sexist vile pigs but they look like a liter of little bitches in heat for Kanye lol
its pretty gay looking to me… move on to the next trend *sigh*
I vote No! i’m all for guys with fashion sense. but the line between males and females are beginning to blur
No brainer, my man Mario….I barely looked at the others…Lol….
Some of y’all don’t know what you’re talking about obviously. And Andre Leon Talley has been rocking the hell out of scarves for forever. Kanye is just catching up; so sorry; no Kanye did not start this and neither did David Beckham.
What is gay about a scarf? A bandana is just a bonifide scarf. I have the gun one from Urban Outfitters in the black and white and the checkered one that Mario is wearing. I love the scarves.
Bill just mad that he ain’t got no scarf swag…It ain’t for everybody you know!
LOL
Gansta and stylish…I love it!
all a bunch of bitches ….. esp jay a camel wiff a skeletal scarf on eww big nose and lips ewwwwwwww larry johnson must have given him a hickey
“Some of y’all don’t know what you’re talking about obviously. And Andre Leon Talley has been rocking the hell out of scarves for forever. Kanye is just catching up; so sorry; no Kanye did not start this and neither did David Beckham.”
First of all, you don’t want to use Andre as an example for anything that’s not supposed to be gay…that’s first…the man wears ceremonial robes (which are “bonified” dresses, essentially).
As for the Kanye thing…I never said he started it, in fact I was clear in showing examples of men who have been wearing scarves for years BUT Kanye certainly IS the first to blend the bohemian, street, and high end looks. His style is neither hood nor white-collar…and it’s not puerely bohemian…it’s all three and he’s the first to do that in such a demonstrative (and quite literal) way. I’ll put it this way…every one of those outfits above are replicas of Kanye’s “Can’t tell me nothing” look…
@ GEM
So what you think Fubu shirts were?
What you think throwbacks were?
What do you think Adidas with the fat laces was about? (OLD SCHOOL)
Button downs and Ones?
Pea coats?
Timberland Yukon/Nubuck/6 inch boots?
Dude rocking one gold, other platinum or white gold Jesus pieces was?
Do I need to go on…
We live in a world of trends and whats hot…
And there is nothing feminine about a trend…Get over it.
Okay, no problem with the Scarfs. They actually look cute I mean attractive on some. But as long as men don’t start wearing those damn skinny jeans like Omarion had on 106. Please men, “real men” don’t do it. And I don’t want to hear shit about you’re secure with yourself if you can rock it right. Right my left ass. Ain’t nothing cute or attractive about a man in skinny jeans.
I thought dude was looking at my ass, guess I was wrong. But don’t get me wrong if you swing that way, you can rock those skinnies, they do look good on “h.y.d” But for all my men who are hetero – -please say no when your stylist or even the dumb girl in the mall suggests its the hottest thing.
“hated it” (in my in living color voice)
I’m with Joshua and Foxx. I don’t get what the big deal is about a scarf. its a friggin scarf! My dad’s been rockin those checked scarves with the fringe (that the arabs wear) since the 80′s. It’s catchin on now but it looks hot and you can wear it so many different ways. I really don’t like how sexuality and fashion seem to be interchangeable. A man wears a scarf and suddenly his sexual orientation is up in the air. wtf is up with that? everything isn’t meant to be pigeonholed. cant a scarf just be a scarf and be left as that?
I like the longer scarfs better, the short scarfs look like they belong on canines….
Gay is a man wearing skirts, headbands as tube tops and pink lipstick with glitter eye shadow. Not a scarf? How does a scarf homo up the whole outfit? These aren’t hot pink silky scarves. I wish people stop labeling things they aren’t feeling as gay it’s so immature.
I agree with the statement @26 tone that shit down.If a brotha got to wear a scarf check the classic Billy Dee Williams scarf swag.
Lol @Bill
I think that this “swag” thing is going a little too far, especially since most of these rappers have been turned out, so why should they be seen as paragons of fashion for men? How come when Da Brat has on jeans 5 sizes too big; an oversized white tee, with timberland boots unlaced, she isn’t a “swag” icon for females, lol? I just find it entertaining how much men, especially black men, are encouraged to embrace their “feminine side” by the mainstream and a sizable amount of black women. If you speak against or even about it, you’re “close-minded”. I guess the ultimate goal is to have men and women walking down the block indistinguishable from each other.
All that being said, I don’t think scarves on men have anything to do with homosexuality, it’s just the spirit that surrounds many of these “trends”.
Damn black folks got to “keep it real” all the time to the point where we can’t have trends becuase anthing other then a hood attire is supposedly gay. I think the majority of people in here dont know what the hell their talking about truth be told becuase thats why they in here commenting on, instead of setting trends.
We dont always have to play it safe especially scince people dont have an issue with hood niggaz wearing pink like that shit is cool to do , I’mma wear a scarf if i feel like it.
Judah I hear what you saying. I dont think the scarves on any of the dudes pictured above looks “gay”. All I see is a scarf around a mans neck. I don’t see a rainbow checked scarf with ponies and dandelions tied on the side like a sarong. Checks and a simple print. I have to agree the the faddishness of some of these trends is what does it to me. Like I said before, we have dudes who were rockin baggy jeans go to these slim fit nuthuggin skinny jeans and its like where did that come from? People who wear things to stand out regardless of what everyone else is doing is wassup. folks who blindly follow trends no matter how stupid and contradictory to the last trend is so lame and unoriginal. I wish it would stop.
Hdizzle wear ya scarf and eff anyone who dont like it. they can kick rocks. lol
Don’t know about Kanye, but June Ambrose BEEN had Jay rocking scarves OFF the red carpet. He rocks ‘em dressed up and how you see here. I prefer dressed up.
i’m impressed
MARIO, LUPE AND KAYNE ROCKED THERE SCARVES THE BEST
Sorry but I NEVER liked scarf’s on men. What’s next? Mini-Skirts for men?
Yall are too much! It’s a friggin scarf! I was thinking the exact same thing as #50. Billy Dee was doing that ages ago and I know there were probably some before him. And Billy Dee was the manliest of men back in the day. Trends come and go, then they come back again. It’s nothing to get all homophobic about. I could see if they were accessorizing with a chain of pearls and a tiara or something!
#45
I think there’s a difference between “trends” that emerge as a result of high-end designs (because high-end collections dictate the styles and sorts of clothing available in low-end stores) AND “trends” that emerge as a result of someone interpreting the former sort. For instance, gray is a trend this season and ankle booties and tuxedo jackets and appliques and bulky sweaters and knits and bucket hats and swing jackets and voluminous skirts…ahhhhh soooo much more…and all these are trends because they reflect the entirety of designer collections for the season. They are trends in availability and sort, then. They are NOT, however, trends in that they reflect the way…say..Patricia Field might have assembled a sweater with knee socks and booties for the “Carrie Bradshaw” character. That’s the difference from where I’m sitting… You can interpret all these things available to you in different ways. There is no reason you should pretend a certain individual’s interpretation of all these items is a “trend” because we all know that another person is not likely to choose exactly from a sea of infinite possibilities…
And, of all the things you listed, the button-down and sneaker trend is the only one that qualifies as a “trend” in the sense that someone wore it, everybody liked it, and emulated him…and that is what I don’t like (especially since it was contrived image from Jay Z’s female stylist for his transition to “businessman”). The rest are merely what were available in stores…
