These music videos aren’t listed in any specific order…
KANYE WEST / STRONGER
Of course, ’07 was a good year for music videos. From expensive videos, to completely video albums, people definitely set the bar higher this year. Even though sometimes he can throw some tantrums, he does conceptualize and put together amazing video compositions. Kanye West’s latest album, Graduation finds him at his peak, and even though ’07 has brought some very high highs and some super lows for Kanye, there’s no denying that “Stronger” was one of this year’s greatest music video compositions.
BEYONCE / GET ME BODIED
Beyonce definitely raised the standard this year by putting out a video anthology of her sophomore solo album, B’Day. She delivered videos for almost every song on the album and each video was a great representation of what the song was. But a favorite among fans was the dance anthem, “Get Me Bodied.” Beyonce was inspired by “The Rich Man’s Frug” from the musical “Sweet Charity.” She took the idea, modernized it and made it her own. It’s completely a club favorite.
RIHANNA / UMBRELLA
Rihanna made a huge splash onto the scene in ’07 with her smash “Umbrella.” At just 18, she released a pretty risque video (remember the silver nude scene?). Either way, Rihanna definitely was a good girl gone bad in the video. She premiered her brand new black bob and let people know that she was not playing this time around. Not only did the song crossover, but the video seemed to be a favorite on MTV, VH1 and BET. Rihanna certainly made moves this year.
COMMON / I WANT YOU
This was one of my favorite videos to be released this year. It was epic, very dramatic, and featured a host of beautiful brown people. Common, Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington and Kanye West – it doesn’t get much more brown and beautiful. I love watching this video. I find something new to look at every time I watch it.
LIL MAMA / LIP GLOSS
Love it or hate it, Lil’ Mama’s “Lip Gloss” made an impact in ’07. From the song, to the energetic video, Lil’ Mama came onto the scene to make noise, and she did just that. The video was super cute – it’s been a long time since I’ve seen choreographed rappers – not since Missy Elliott. I definitely respect this girl’s swagger. Look out for her album, Voice of the Young People to drop next year.

I agree wit ‘Ye, Dream UGK, and Jay. But the other’s were just good SONGS….
dueces
I’m with #2, Timbaland did great things. Where is his credit? Also why the hell is Trey Songz and Common on the list? I love both of these artists but what was great about their videos? I don’t consider either of them innovative. C’mon CL usually I’m a supporter but stop throwing in artists you love and give credit where its due to artists who have put hard work into their videos!!!
i liked jay (future bro in law),bee( my sis), and lil mama video
GO CIARA! Loved the creativity of the video.
congrats to erbody else.
ALSO the ladies in the DREAM video are CIARA’s dancers! They rocked that!
The arrogance, the “flashy nigga” braggin on a song….the whole we better than you cause we rich, bitch mentality but still somehow you gotta love Jigga…roc boys, indeed, Guess that video was a preview of the end of The Carter Administration…may it rest in peace.
Damn shame about Pimp C. At least he went out on a good note.
Get Me Bodied…I wish I could do that dance…..! No dance skills whatsoever over here!
I Want You mysterious and sexy just like a Pisces man……! Makes you want to just do better somehow since they all look nice and creative and sexy.
since Prince was on Appolonia one of my favorite lines of the year…..
Nice roundup peoples….
Sorry Rihanna’s video was nothing special. I don’t see how it won an MTV award over Justice D.A.N.C.E. Now THAT video needs to be up at the top. It’s fresh and exciting. It’s like Kanye’s video but better.
Like You’ll Never See Me Again.
Alicia Keys.
Stunning video. Too good to be left out of the list. :]
beyonce had the best video hands down
rhianna just suck !!!!!!!!!
kanyes was gud
jays was gud
the rest was coo too
Kanye definitely takes it to the next level with his videos, and they are always equally important as the song itself, which is refreshing these days since mtv hardly plays videos anymore. I think we probably wouldn’t expect to see a Kanye anthology since he probably thinks about his videos more than Beyonce does and puts more effort into having some sort of theme. Beyonce’s video anthology was disappointing in that it was obvious that they just threw it together and shot every video on the same exact soundstage. It wasn’t in the interest of making videos, it was in the interest of making more stuff for people to buy. Honestly a Kanye video anthology would probably be expensive as hell, he said it cost a ton just for the editing on “Stronger.” But he definitely has the video of the year to me.
Okay how did Jay, Common, and Dream make that list? Their vides weren’t even hits on any VIDEO countdown!!!!
LMAO @ Lil Mama being on this list.
I also liked all those videos. Good list.
Love Ci Ci Like A Boy. So creative and real.
