♫ Nicole Scherzinger ft. Brick & Lace – Puakenikeni
Nicole’s already had 2 failed singles this past year, so her team resulted to sticking some tracks up on her official site, hernameisnicole.com, and having some of her fans vote on what the next single should be. Among these tracks were the Akon-produced, “Puankenikeni.” It also features a cameo from Konvict signees, Brick & Lace. And it seems to be the winner. If you’re unfamiliar, the puakenikeni is a beautiful Hawaiian flower. So it seems as though Nicole is paying homage to her heritage.
“Puakenikeni” is the third single from the lead Pussycat Doll’s debut solo album, Her Name Is Nicole. I can’t say whether I like or dislike the song, but I will say that I think that this is what they should have been going for straight from the beginning. People know Nicole for dancing, and I think that if she puts out a solid dance video for the track, it may be good for her.
It sounds ok…she needs a stronger hit though. Oh and first!

I loved her better in PCD. This song is alright but she is a pretty woman.
It sounds average, the same as every other artist…pop artist. What category is she in anyways? Man, what happened to being unique?! I bet you, I know how the choreography is going to be cause it’s all the same. This song is pretty average. I think she should’ve stuck w/ the Dolls for a little bit longer. Everybody wants go all solo and sometimes they are not ready for it.
This should have been the first single, but I don’t know that it would have done well…it sounds like Fergie’s “London Bridge” and Rihanna’s “Sell Me Candy” combined with Kelly Rowland singing it.
I don’t know why she stepped out of the group…it was so wildly successful. People just aren’t feeling her…I saw her during the taping of a live show and nobody responded to her…nobody…she even cracked jokes a couple of times about nobody responding. She’s quite reserved, very nice and thoughtful…it’s not necessarily a personality that does wonders for you when you had the most success with a feisty girl group. I just don’t think she’ll do well…It’s like Jessica Simpson and the mystery of her inability to compete with Britney and Christina (although she was/is MUCH prettier than both). Nicole can’t compete with Fergie, Nelly Furtado, Rihanna, and Gwen.

I like this song better than her other two singles……it’s really not that bad…I like her voice…she did leap pretty quick from PCD so I think she just needs to find who she is….just needs a little time.
