thrillercover.jpgMichael Jackson is set to release a special edition packet of his classic album, Thriller. It is the 25th of the album, and Epic/Legacy Recordings is proudly putting out the set with remixes from Kanye West, Will.I.Am & Fergie of Black Eyed Peas, and Akon, in stores February 12th. Streaming above, is the remix to “Billie Jean” that Kanye West twerked out.

The 25th anniversary celebration kicks off in December 2007 with the release of a new single and continues throughout 2008 with a multi-faceted global marketing campaign featuring high-profile television, radio and online events around the world. It will include the original album in its entirety as well as eight bonus tracks and a DVD featuring Michael Jackson’s groundbreaking short films from Thriller (“Thriller,” “Beat It,” and “Billie Jean”) and the artist’s Emmy-nominated breakout performance of “Billie Jean” from the legendary “Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever” television special (first broadcast on NBC on May 16, 1983).

In February 1984, Michael Jackson held a record-breaking 12 Grammy nominations, going on to win eight, which stands as the record for most Grammy Awards to be won by anyone in a single year. Awards grabbed for Thriller that year included Album of the Year, Record of the Year (“Beat It”), Best Male Pop Vocal Performance (“Thriller”), Best Engineered Recording, Non-Classical (Thriller), Best Male Rock Vocal Performance (“Beat It”), Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (“Billie Jean”) and Best R&B Song (“Billie Jean”). He also won big at the American Music and MTV Video Music Awards.

There have been talks of a Michael Jackson comeback project, rumoredly working with Will.I.Am and hitmaker Ne-Yo, but no solid information on the project’s release date. Also, his brothers have confirmed that Michael will be working with them on the Jackson 5 reunion tour. Big ups to Michael, he definitely did his thing on Thriller! Solidified classic.

Make sure you pick up your copy of the 25th anniversary of Thiller on the 12th of February.

Thriller is my most favourite album of all time. Love Micheal. I’m definitely gonna be picking up the Anniversary copy come February. Yeah Brian, BIG UPs to Mike!

  4. Just Jenn

And co-sign with #61-Where’s Quincy at? The ORIGINAL producer extrodinaire

  5. TEESOFLYY

MJ is one scary ass white woman!!

  6. Mutada al sader

You know ???????? I FUCKING LIKE IT ! And I’m buying it. Go head Miijac !

  7. Mmmmm…no….i don’t like the remixes…especially the Billie Jean remix. Kanye literally dumbed that remix to shit…

Please lord…dont do this to the one and only Michael Jackson…he’s the best, but these remixes can go somewhere!

  8. TooCute

why the hell did he do a remix with the fugly transexual that is Fergie! shes soo talentless. i thought he was gonna have great artists on his remix album

other than that i looove michael forever!!! but im not impressed so far, the kanye west one doesnt even hav kanye on it (unless its me going mad) lol

  9. SAM FROM THE BAY

i thought KanYe was gonna drop a sick ass verse on it!!!

How come he is only doing vocals and background?!?!

He better a drop a verse!

  10. GP

MJ is a legend and the Thriller album is a CLASSIC…

But i think a legend should only work with people who are either already legends or legends in the making. I can get with Kayne, Will.I.Am is on the fence, but come on… MJ working with Akon and Fergie??? That’s downright disrespectful. And Fergie sounds TERRIBLE on this track.

The Billie Jean and The girl is mine remixes are fire. I can do without the Beat it remix. Once again, he is the best recording artist of all time. All these people comparing Chris Brown to him are stupid. Chris Brown doesn’t have the voice even close to Michael.

  12. nd1979

That photo is soooooo touched up

  13. Dyvine

Kanye did his thing I don’t think this is the final mix of it though it seems to be missing something #5 I feel you i was scared of the video when i was shorty lol

  14. Fancyface

Kanye has the power to awaken the dead. The man is truly bad for his time. That remix is hot but I think Michael should let it go after this cut. Legends go away quietly.

  15. DAREALWIFEY

I was an MJ FANATIC (like my daddy almost whooped my ass I was so obsessed about him….but that snapped me out of it…LMAO), but anyway, back to the remixes…BOOOO! Don’t like the BJ remix. The beat is lame. The remix didn’t add *anything* to the song.

MJ is still a musical genius, and nobody can beat him, but they gotta come better than this.

  16. ON DEMAND

wtf? who the hell chose Fergie? IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE I WANT IT TO STOP. I LOVE MJ SONGS.. POOR MJ ,WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS TO YOUR SONGS!!!

JUST MAKE IT STOP! FERGIE’S VOICE IS HURTING MY EARS, THIS SONG DOES N’T FIT HER VOICE… I LIKE HER OTHER SONGS … WHEN SINGS IT IN THE STUDIO NOT LIVE!

  17. Sunshine

These are remixes?….R. Kelly can do a remix :) He takes a song keeps its essence yet it sounds like a whole new song! Even though Kell’s lyrics may be silly he still does a good job with his remixes. oh well. MJ is still the King of POP!

Ps. Did you call your Mom today?

  18. Mz Coko

32..Say Say Say was the jam…

Some shyt should just NOT be touched and that would b this entire album they r so called remixing..I won’t even download it..let alone buy it!

If you combine Usher, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown and all the others, they still can’t equal Michael Jackson.

  21. Just4U

After god made MJ he threw the mold away. There will never be another artist who will reach the level of artistic talent, stage magnetism or presence to grace the music industry, and who will reach the magnitude of record sales as MJ has done. All of the MJ “Wanna -Be’s” have lagging record sales and will never have the longevity and staying power MJ has and will continue to have. Record sales as a whole in the music industry are in a slump now as it is, and the Justin Timberlake’s, Chris Brown’s, Usher’s, etc., will never have a CD that will sell over 100 million copies…no matter how hard they try, nor even will they have one CD that will sell 20 million copies or more. MJ within himself is like as a rare black diamond, which is very hard to find, and often never found or discovered again.

  22. I forgot to mention two things

    1. Thriller was nominated for 13 Grammys, not 12.

    2. Michael Jackson wrote, produced and composed ‘Beat It’ and ‘Billie Jean’ so while Quincy was around overseeing the record as with Off The Wall and Bad, MJ did all that sh!t himself.

Listen to the Billie Jean Demo

  23. MaxAMillion

The remixes don’t work for me. I don’t even think Thriller is Mike’s best album. Off the Wall is an amazing album!! Ain’t nobody been able to touch Rock With You or Don’t Stop Until You Get Enough to this day.

  24. gdlywoman

YAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!! Love ya, Mike! “Smooth Criminal” is STILL my jam!!!!

  25. Just4U

Sunshine…MJ likes R. Kelly…Check him out jammin’ to R. Kelly’s “Ignition Remix” in the car. A collaboration between the two may happen one day.

  26. Jerome

The best remix on the CD is The Girl IS Mine. MIchael’s vocals and ab libs are great.

  27. TooCute

i hav very bad hearing, after re-listening i heard kanyes voice and i forget hes a producer

the first remix is actually quite good but not as good as the original

  28. astrid

Ewwwwww!! He looks like he wants to sleep with my little brother.

  29. Jesus(heysus)

Cant wait to have the Thriller 25 CD!!! and Cant Wait for Mikes NEW CD to come out!!, MICHAEL JACKSON IS THE ONLY SUPERSTAR THERE IS!!!!! F%&*! the PRESS MIKES THE BEST!!!

  30. Jerome

I don’t like the Billie Jean Remix, but The Girl Is Mine is fire. Mike’s ab libs are incredibile. Beat it is ok. Since I am a MJ fan I will purchase the album for the songs, The Girl Is Mine and For All Time. I think the album will fare will, considering it 25 years old. My guess is 250,000 for first week sales, and a million after a year.

  31. Tiani

Michael could’ve done a remix to Beat It with me instead of Fergie…. oh well.
I love it && i cant wait. Michael’s coming back, bout time!

  32. James

These remixes are amazing, best ones being the girl is myne with will, wanna be starting something with akon and pyt with Will!
Cannot wait till this hits thew shops in feb. and the girl is myne single 14 Jan I think. MJ king of pop!!! HEEEE’S BACK WAHOOO! :D
