So, as we all know, Janet Jackson’s new single, “Feedback,” produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins leaked in the middle of last week, much to fans delight. It seems as though people were pretty much pleased with the product Janet delivered. And I’m sure fans and haters alike are eager to see what Janet’s come up with for a video, which is supposed to be dropping sometime in January. There are even rumors circulating of a comeback New Years Eve performance.
The project, executive produced by L.A. Reid and released via Def Jam finally has been titled Discipline. Discipline will be Janet’s 10th studio release. Oddly enough, I think that it’s fitting for the new Janet album. In addition to Rodney, it seems as though Janet’s tapped Jermaine Dupri, Stargate, Ne-Yo and The Dream & Tricky Stewart on the new album. I’m really interested to see what she came up with to release in February of next year.
“Feedback” is set to impact radio January 7th, but not much to my surprise, I’ve already heard it on the radio. I hope that this is huge for Janet.
MONICA BACK TO BALLADS
After a disappointing spout with her last studio album, The Makings of Me, Monica has decided to go back to her roots on her forthcoming yet-to-be-titled project. The numbers for The Makings of Me did not do well at all and many Monica fans were disappointed in some of the material.
“I am going back to where I started,” said Monica. “Expect new material from me in Spring/Summer 2008! I have finalized a new deal with J. Records and I’m currently doing work in the studio with the likes of Missy and Bryan-Michael Cox. There is also talk of me hooking up with Ne-Yo and some other songwriters on my upcoming CD.”
I’m hoping that this is true and not some bogus quote that someone just type up for Monica, because she really needs to put out something quality, otherwise, she’s going to begin to lose some fans, because I think a lot of people weren’t too pleased with what Monica had to offer on The Makings of Me.
MARIO ALREADY CONCEPTUALIZING NEW ALBUM
Although Mario just released his third studio album, Go! last Tuesday, Mario has already begun conceptualizing his fourth album and plans to have it out no later than the time school gets in, after next summer, not even a year after the release of Go!
Mario told Billboard.com that he’s in the midst of a creative spurt that yielded 70 songs he considered for Go! before settling on the dozen tracks that made the album, including the singles, “How Do I Breathe” and his rumored next single, “Music For Love.”
“You can imagine how many different concepts and things I had,” the 21-year-old explains. “But there’s really even more than that, ’cause I’m gonna start recording, like, at the end of January.”
Mario reveals that unlike Go!, he wants to work with fewer collaborators. He says he wants to use a maximum of only four producers and songwriters, which I guess will make for a more cohesive project. He also wants to go on a large production tour in 2008, after the release of the “Music For Love” video, due out in January.

I love Janet’s new song, I think she knows that she really needs to bring it this time and so far she’s getting good feedback on her songs, any word on Jimmy Jam and Terry, did she work with them this time around? It was time for a new sound from her. Sorry Jimmy and Terry but you make all your music sound the same!! Janet is beautiful as always and these watered down versions DO NOT compare!! No doubt Monica can blow with the best of them, but for some reason she gets lost with the nameless and the faceless… I hope this album is better for her. She has had some moderate success but she hasn’t really had that knockout album yet. Best wishes to her.

I really hope Monica does change it up. I’ ve been a fan since the beginning and the only good songs on the last album were the slow songs. I also think she made bad choices in the singles she chose for that album. Also, I’m feelin the Janet song, it’s back to the dance singles kind of like the ones on All for You, can’t wait for the next album.

I kinda knew Monica’s album wasnt gon do well. I mean the songs she released were ass. I think she shoulda made a single of Hell No(Leave Home) now that’s my shit!!!! The whole project just seemed unpromoted. She released Sideline Ho with no video but then gon make a video for A dozen Roses that made no sense. Monica has major vocals so she needs to step it up n with the help of my boo Ne-Yo n all of those otha behind the scenes people she can get her fans back

Every last one of Monica’s CD’s have been GREAT! I have not been disappointed by one. I just don’t get what people didn’t like about the Makings of Me CD. It stays in heavy rotation in my car and in my house. True Monica fans appreciated it, I’m sure. Just like there is alot of riff about Bey’s B-Day…really??? That was a GREAT CD too and every video was hot… I dunno…maybe I’m on a limb.

As for Janet’s pic…I’ve seen it on other blogs and I like it…it looks like her to me…I even like her outfit (and that’s a big deal because I usually think she’s dressed like a hooker-scarecrow). Still, her song sucks…it sucks, unbelievably…so much that if the Cheetah girls had come out with it I would still think it fetid and immature.

I loved Mo’s last album and I have been a fan since One of Dem Days. Makings of Me had some good songs on there. Why Her, Sideline Ho, A Dozen Roses, Getaway, Hell No were all good tracks. I know alot of people were disappointed in “Eveytime The Beat Drops” b/c of the ATL feel. Well get the hell over it people. Monica IS from ATL and that type of music is in her.
I wish Janet much success. After all, she is a Vet. Janet is 40 and have a better body than some of these teenagers running around here. Get it girl!

I think Monica’s the makings of me was the best album she has ever done. Well I liked the first album Miss Thang. But I mean people grow people change. That was the first cd I can listen to from beginning to the end. Keep doin ur thang Monica.
I love all of Monica’s music even though I’m not really into her slow music. I also think she should have done a video for Hell No. That was a great song and almost eveyone could relate to that song.

That Janet song is club banger more than anything. The style of the reocrd is what is hot right now so it’ll probably do well especially if she has a good video to it so I’m looking forward to it.

Mario album seems to be impressive. I was always thought this young man has some undeniabl vocal talent. While Omarion and Chris Brown got all the shine. I felt kinda bad that Mario wasn’t getting the same recognition as the both of them. Hopefully he’ll get his shine that he deserves

well i actually like her last album but thats just me….and i could see how people didnt like her last album…..then again those arent her true fans…not to say her true fans would like anything she makes,just saying they would appreciate it regardless of what others think……but the album before makings of me was the bomb and she still got slept on…i dont know what it will take to bring her back full fledged but i hope it happens for her soon cuz i love monica and shes one of the few real r&b chicks left in the game

The new Janet record is straight fiyah! I love that she stepped away from hip-hop, which is not her strong suit, and took it back to her dance aesthetic. For those who arent’t feelin’ it though, Janet’s CDs always cover a wide range of musical genres, so I’d expect that Discipline will continue in that vein. As far as the pic is concerned, every star’s photos are touched up, so that’s nothing new or strange. We’ve all seen Janet on the tele, on film, and elsewhere…she still looks twentysomething!

I thought that was a pic of Christina Milian. From the songs I’ve heard from Mario’s album, it’s pretty nice. Janet might want to try doing something besides music for a back up plan. Her last couple of albums haven’t been doing that well. Maybe she should try the biz part of the industry or even clothing because she can dress. As for Monica, I wish her the best of luck. Adimittedly I didnt pick up her last album. It just seemed so different from what she usually would do and I wasnt feeling it. Hopefully she finds that spark again.
