So, as we all know, Janet Jackson’s new single, “Feedback,” produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins leaked in the middle of last week, much to fans delight. It seems as though people were pretty much pleased with the product Janet delivered. And I’m sure fans and haters alike are eager to see what Janet’s come up with for a video, which is supposed to be dropping sometime in January. There are even rumors circulating of a comeback New Years Eve performance.
The project, executive produced by L.A. Reid and released via Def Jam finally has been titled Discipline. Discipline will be Janet’s 10th studio release. Oddly enough, I think that it’s fitting for the new Janet album. In addition to Rodney, it seems as though Janet’s tapped Jermaine Dupri, Stargate, Ne-Yo and The Dream & Tricky Stewart on the new album. I’m really interested to see what she came up with to release in February of next year.
“Feedback” is set to impact radio January 7th, but not much to my surprise, I’ve already heard it on the radio. I hope that this is huge for Janet.
MONICA BACK TO BALLADS
After a disappointing spout with her last studio album, The Makings of Me, Monica has decided to go back to her roots on her forthcoming yet-to-be-titled project. The numbers for The Makings of Me did not do well at all and many Monica fans were disappointed in some of the material.
“I am going back to where I started,” said Monica. “Expect new material from me in Spring/Summer 2008! I have finalized a new deal with J. Records and I’m currently doing work in the studio with the likes of Missy and Bryan-Michael Cox. There is also talk of me hooking up with Ne-Yo and some other songwriters on my upcoming CD.”
I’m hoping that this is true and not some bogus quote that someone just type up for Monica, because she really needs to put out something quality, otherwise, she’s going to begin to lose some fans, because I think a lot of people weren’t too pleased with what Monica had to offer on The Makings of Me.
MARIO ALREADY CONCEPTUALIZING NEW ALBUM
Although Mario just released his third studio album, Go! last Tuesday, Mario has already begun conceptualizing his fourth album and plans to have it out no later than the time school gets in, after next summer, not even a year after the release of Go!
Mario told Billboard.com that he’s in the midst of a creative spurt that yielded 70 songs he considered for Go! before settling on the dozen tracks that made the album, including the singles, “How Do I Breathe” and his rumored next single, “Music For Love.”
“You can imagine how many different concepts and things I had,” the 21-year-old explains. “But there’s really even more than that, ’cause I’m gonna start recording, like, at the end of January.”
Mario reveals that unlike Go!, he wants to work with fewer collaborators. He says he wants to use a maximum of only four producers and songwriters, which I guess will make for a more cohesive project. He also wants to go on a large production tour in 2008, after the release of the “Music For Love” video, due out in January.

I have all of Monica’s cds and i couldn’t tolerate a lot of the songs on it. I know a lot of people liked Sideline Hoe, but when you think about the lyrics of the song she was being a hoe herself because she was f* a man knowing he was f* another girl. Yeah I love her voice and it’s not so much that it’s real talk she just really strayed away from “Monica”.

Monica has no choice but to bring it on this album. Mario has been doing great on his songs lately. New album should be great also. Janet needs to bring it also she has no choice. I love her music but she need to get that main stream again.
I can’t wait for the Music For Love Vid. That’s one of my favorite tracks on the album. It really stood out.

Mario has the of the best R&B CD’s of the year on his hands, i hope he doesn’t rush through the promo becoz he wants to put out another album. Theres at least 5 single worthy songs on there.

Monicas first album was the best work she’s ever done!… Every track was better than the next. I hope she can go back to that. I also hope she can refine her style and be more classy. She can be a young Whitney.
I have to say I took a closer listen to Mario over the weekend and I am so pleasantly surprised with his voice and that single “Breathe.” Very nice music and vocal delivery. Very nice. He needs to really get on his grind because he has real talent. I’d like to hear more from him.
Monica has a phenomenal voice but needs a complete overhaul. She has been squandering her talent with oversung ghetto songs and it ain’t cute. I’ll believe her new direction when I hear it.
Janet’s new song is mediocre. It may have hit trillion blogs, but I heard it exactly ONE time on the radio this weekend. :-/
@#51 — “Crying Out for Me” by Mario is absolutely beautiful. The vocals are stellar. It’s nice to hear a young dude doing some quality R&B for a change. It’s been a minute. Damn!! I just don’t know why people are sleeping on “Makings of Me” I mean hell my husband even started jamming the CD I played it so much in the car and in my home. I think that she did not get enough good promotion and marketing of the album. I have and will like all Monica albums I own every last one she is a true vocal artist and she is real. I was alittle shocked that Hell No didn’t get played as a single because the song is hot. And Why her? is surely as hit as well , Sideline Ho was dope but I liked so many other songs that i felt should have been played on the radio . I just heard her new song and it is better than all that dumb sh*t she’s been putting out, but true fact is, the only people who are feeling this song are the older crowd. The main audience who buys music now-a-days, teens to young adults said that this song was wack! I think the beat is something to dance to but it’s too old trying to be young.
Monica should just give up music as well and be a stay at home mother. Her music is too boring. Whoever said that she’s no Beyonce or Keyshia Cole, of course she aint no Beyonce but why bring Keyshia Cole in this when she’s getting more successful as an R&B arrtist? Just last year everyone was making fun of her cracked voice, even me. Keyshia Cole is a true artist who was on a lower level than Monica but stepped her sh*t up.

I have loved every one of Monica’s albums. In every album, she has grown more as an artist, and it shows. In fact, “The Makings of Me” was named one of the top critically acclaimed albums of last year by the Grammy Foundation. It was just released to late for Grammy consideration. Monica has always been the truth! Oh, and I agree, she should have released “Hell No” and “Why Her” as singles.

I actually liked Monica’s last album. It could’ve been better. I liked “After The Storm” better. Makings of Me had the wrong singles to begin with. It shoulda been “A Dozen Roses”, “Why Her”, “Hell No” and “Raw”. But I love Monica’s ballads, so this is will be a great album.

Loved Mario’s record, Monica’s record was the ish, she is not telling anybody to accept cheating, its just her initial reaction when she found out and the conversation she had with the girl and that song is not about Rodney, she said she broke that off when she found out.
