New album and a new label! Looks like Solange is trying to stake her own claim by signing to a new label. Solange’s new album, Solange & the Hadley Street Dreams will be released on Geffen Records.

Geffen is home to artists like Mary J. Blige, Macy Gray, Fergie, Common, Nelly Furtado and Keyshia Cole, so Solange will be in good company. The new album will be joint venture between Geffen and Music World Music, her father’s record label. In addition to moving to a new label, Solange has also moved out of Mama Tina’s house and is now living in Los Angeles, where she has been doing some recording for the new project.

As stated before in a music news round-up, Solange & the Hadley Street Dreams is a mix of old sixties and seventies soul mixed with electronica. On the record, she will be working with Cee-Lo Green, Q-Tip, Lil’ Wayne and Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry. Judging from that list, her album seems like it’s going to be a real melting pot of a lot of cool artists.

I’m proud of Solange for signing to a new label. I think it proves that she’s really trying to do her own thing and leave her own mark. Kelly Rowland might wanna take notes…

We posted some new material from Lil’ Kim about her new mixtape, Ms. G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time, for those who don’t remember), but she sat down with MTV to talk a little bit more about the mixtape, her reconciliation with former foe 50 Cent, and also her beef with Remy Ma.

“Me and Fif always been really tight. We used to talk on the phone every day,” she said about their relationship before their most recent falling-out and reconciliation. “He placed a call to me and I thought it was very big of him, and it was all very respectful. When we were on the phone with each other, we were being very careful to not step on each other’s words. It’s like the best reunion I think I ever had with a friend. He’s really a good person. He had this idea [for the song] and he said, ‘Don’t nobody do it like you, Bee. I wanna make this “Magic Stick” part two.’ Me and Fif got some surprises for y’all.”

Lil’ Kim and 50 may have buried the hatchet, but don’t go looking for any Kim and Remy Ma collabos anytime soon. Kim just dissed Remy on a freestyle over 50 Cent’s “I Get Money.” Kim says it was retaliation.

“At the end of the day, I’m not gonna sit there and not say nothing,” Kim said. “I spoke how I felt. She can take it how she wanna take it. She goes in on me, I go in back. It ain’t even nothing to think about. At the end of the day, it’s on wax, but whatever… because if you go in on me, I got the right to go in on you — bottom line! Next! I don’t even look at it as competition.”

After claiming to be “the hottest bitch out,” Kim revealed that she is almost up with her contract with Atlantic and we should be on the look-out for an album as early as February ’08.

Little Miss Sunshine, Rihanna, is still pushing her certified gold, 3rd album Good Girl Gone Bad. With already 4 songs out (“Umbrella,” “Shut Up & Drive,” “Don’t Stop the Music,” and the Ne-Yo pinned “Hate That I Love You”), her new single, “Breakin’ Dishes,” written and produced by The Dream, has already entered Hot Dance Club Play chart at #40.

To date, Rihanna has scored 7 #1 songs on that chart. “Breakin’ Dishes” has been a fan favorite from the Good Girl Gone Bad project, and since Rihanna is probably wrapping up promo on this album soon, I definitely see why the label chose this as a single. It isn’t known whether or not a video will be shot for “Breakin’ Dishes,” but I think it would definitely be interesting if there were.

Interestingly enough, though, “Umbrella” was a worldwide #1, it was on the top of the charts in more than several different countries, however the album was just certified platinum by the RIAA, months after its release. I’m sure, though, that Rihanna is working hard on a follow-up to what some have said is her best album to date.

According to reports, 50 Cent has been tapped by singer/actress and socialite, Lindsay Lohan. The two are said to have become good friends in recent months, prompting speculation of a collaboration.

According to Lindsay’s father, Michael Lohan, Lindsay has already approached 50 Cent about the collaboration.

He explained:

“They’re talking about working together. Nothing’s firm yet, but they’re in talks. They’ve actually known each other for a while, just from being in the business together and crossing paths at events.”

Apparently, Lindsay has been working on the album since getting out of rehab. They’re using the working title, Nobody’s Angel. This should be interesting, considering that I haven’t really hard any material from Lindsay that 50 would fit on. In case you didn’t know, Lindsay has previously released two albums in the past couple of years, Speak and her most recent effort, A Little More Personal (Raw).
