It’s a cool dance song, but this is not the direction Janet needs to be in. I think today’s generation is just not interested in Janet…that’s that!

I’m Late to posting in this thread..but could someone tell me just what was wrong with 20 Y.O…I am not a janet jackson fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I was actually impressed by her last cd…I rock “so excited” from that LP at a lot of my deejaying gigs and it definately is a crowd mover…

I’m 19 and I should probably be loving this track and saying janet used to be boring but I actually miss her velvet rope self. That album was and still is beautiful, Damn I’ve had that cassette since i was 10! but I guess she does need to compete but i really wished she wouldn’t I love her style.

@229 No you aren’t alone. I LOVED Damita Jo. Also, there are a couple of hot tracks on “All for You”, especially one of the ballads. Janet is who all of these young performers are trying to be. Period. She is the original. For those who are complaining that she needs to “grow up”, you need to open up your eyes. Age is a number and that woman makes most women 10 years her junior want to RUN to the gym. In fact, I’m 34 and when I see her pictures I’m thinking “ok….15 more minutes on the treadmill Nef”. She is fly. Period.

I like it. Its a great DANCE track which MISSJACKSON, is known for. I dont care if she trying to compete it still sounds good. @228 I really liked 20 y/o as well and you are right, you have to listen to the whole CD and not just what they release as singles. In fact, I thought the same thing about “All for You”.

Anyone who listens to Janet’s CDs will be hard pressed to say they couldn’t find something that was “fire” on each of them. On All for you, there is a song called “Truth” that is fantastic. Anyone who says she isn’t R&B as well as Pop isn’t paying attention.

As for 20 Y/O I rocked that CD in my truck for months and we have 6 children (yes, I said 6, I became an attorney just over the grocery bill *wink), three teens and 2 pre-teens who became fans of Janet after the seeing her concert video with me. She isn’t a “singer” but these days, who is? I think real singers went out with with Whitney, Anita Baker, etc. but as for an all around performer who is FIRE on stage, Janet is the queen.. Her concert DVDS are the best.

I think it was too much like everyone else’s music of today. People expect Janet to be a groundbreaker and when she sounds like everyone else it makes people think its not her best. 20 y/old was okay I bought it for one track : “Do it to me”

According to CNN, Janet’s new song “Feedback” is the subject of 1.34 million blogs around the world in a matter of 5 hours, and radio stations across the country has been swamped with hundreds of thousands of phone calls to play the song, making “Feeback” the most successful debut leak in music history. Major radio station website has been stalled because traffic for the song spiked damn near ninety percent. They said no other leak has generated this much buzz and anticipation since, well, never. 20 Y.O. was not a bad CD. I used to listen to it in the car as I traveled every weekend. It got me from Austin to Dallas every weekend. I think they didn’t market 20 Y.O. right. Call On Me shouldn’t have been the first song released. I believe they thought since Nelly was ft. it was going to do really well. But it didnt workout that way. So Excited should have been released first followed by on of the slower jams. Also, (Roll Witchu) was on the bonus tracks released on the Japanese version was FIYAH!!!!! This song definately should have been a song on the CD.

Overall 20 Y.O. was good to me!

Sorry, but the song is hot garbage. Sounds like something Rhianna passed on. The old Janet was an originator, a trendsetter, a pacemaker. Why is she working so hard to sound like everybody else? The albums she makes today is the B-level crap she should’ve been making in her 20s, while albums like “Control” (late teens) and “Rhythm Nation” (early 20s) were light years ahead of her time. Janet, you’re doing it backwards - you’re supposed to get BETTER as you get older.
