Mary J. Blige feat. Usher – Shake Down
Mary J. Blige has definitely been doing her thing the past couple of years. She’s set to release her new album, Growing Pains on the 18th of December. She’s got a nice, fashionable video for the first single, “Just Fine,” written by The Dream. Here’s some new material from Mary’s album, titled “Shake Down.” It’s a duet with Usher, who is supposedly coming out with a new album as well (no word on the status of that project). It’s not a bad duet, but it sounds almost identical to the duet that she did with Jamie Foxx on his album, Unpredictable. The production almost seems like it’s the exact same song.
Mary’s album leaked, but it’s a low quality web-rip, so I’m definitely waiting on the real thing to feast my ears. So, if you’re a fan, make sure you get your copy of Growing Pains when it drops in two weeks.

I had the chance to download Mary’s album (CD quality, not web-rip) and overall, I’m not feeling it. It seems like it was recorded overnight ’cause most of the joints are sloppy either lyrically or production-wise.
Don’t know what you’re listening to because sonically, this is the best Mary has sounded in a while and the content is on point.

I was listening to some old school r&b over the weekend and dat shit had a vibe we don’t have anymore, and i didn’t have to get high or faded to enjoy it. This song is o.k. I like other songs on the album better.. IMO this album doesn’t touch “The Breakthrough” tho. However, the production, vocals, and overall feel of this album is more polished and smooth. To be honest, I think I enjoyed Keyshia’s album better. It’s NOT a bad thing, its just me.. I give this album a B+

So is “Fade Away”, “Hurt Again” (very good song), “Til the Morning” is that old school SOS Band funk feel, “Talk to Me” (“Woman to Woman”/Gladys Knight 70s soul)!!!! Oh…..and “Roses” that shit is true Mary, classic Mary! “Work in Progress” is also a nice ballad.
