MC Lyte - Beautiful
MC Lyte’s voice is a force not to be reckoned with. I just love to hear her ride a beat. It’s been a while since she’s dropped any records, so I’m happy to hear her on this. I can’t remember the last time I’d heard MC Lyte on a track. Either way, I’m digging the song. Although the production isn’t anything new or groundbreaking, it still has a sense of warmth and familiarity. I’m hoping that this track is more than just a tease, and that MC Lyte’s new album, Back to the Lyte drops soon.
Check out MC Lye on MySpace for more updates on the release of Back to the Lyte and hear some more music!

I’ve never really been a fan of Lyte’s voice even thought I like her music (make sense? Well, anyway, remember Roughneck and Rock a Party?? Loved those joints even though she’s nasaly. But this is cool. This is different and GROWN. And no she’s not rappin about how fat her coochie is but what she’s saying is relevant so big ups and mad props to her for not falling into the “trap”. And I really like the beat on this joint. It’s reminiscent of Pete Rock, GangStarr and all the other solid hip hop beats that came out of the late 90s.

Um, I love Mc Lyte just as much as the next person but the problem for me is that she still sounds like she’s rapping in the late 80’s early 90’s. This is not a problem for me if I’m listening to Old School Rap but when someone is trying to be current and relevant now, I need some new flavor. And she is not bringing it w/this beat or this flow.
Stick to acting.

Sorry but the stuff you youngin’s calling “rap” and “hip hop” is not. It’s a bunch of non sense put together under a hype beat to keep you from seeing that there is no message no real lyrical content which is exactly what make a song - hello - they’re called lyrics.
I don’t care if she’s green, glad to have some grown women repping. That’s me.

I’m feeling this track. The beat is smooth and laid back. She still doing her thang since “Cold Rock the Party” track…. Hell i think she need to come back with a hard album anyway. What other female rappers do we have now that we can speak highly about??? We don’t have any of that right now…I’m still rocking my Lil Kim (Hardcore), Foxxy Brown (ill na na), Queen Latifah (Black Reign), & Missy (The Real World). They also need to come out with something hard like those album what i just named. I miss all of that. McLyte do you baby. Make that comeback.
