Michelle Williams – Stop This Car (snippet)
Is it a week for members who were in Destiny’s Child to release music? Wow. Finally. I can’t believe it. A snippet of brand new music from Michelle Williams, formally of Destiny’s Child, has leaked. “Stop This Car” is apparently supposed to be her new single from her upcoming contemporary R&B album. This will be Michelle’s third solo studio album to date, but her first contemporary R&B solo effort. Her previous two albums did very well in the gospel realm. I wish her the best of luck, though. I just wonder what inspired the change.
“Stop This Car” gives me Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” track-wise. Listen to the beat. And that’s probably because it was produced by Stargate – the acoustic feel with that drum pattern is starting to becoming their classic sound. I just hope they don’t get caught up in a rut. They’ve already done songs that have sounded like carbon copies with Rihanna, American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, and R&B heartthrob Chris Brown.

okay, so the mp3 is slowed down in the audio player for some reason. I’m checking up on it right now to see if I can fix it. I knew the song sounded funny. when I stream it from using the URL, it sounds fine, but for some reason, the audio player on the site is slowing it down.
Michelle has always been my favorite member and even though she hasnt got a voice like Whitney or Mariah, different and very unique and that’s what I like about it so I’m diggin the song and I betcha Michelle does a helleva lot better than Kelly’s whack behind who has to re-release her dumb cd Ms.Kellly

The track sounds nothing like Irreplaceable to me. “With You,” “Tattoo,” “Good Girl Gone Bad,” all of those really sound like Irreplaceable but this…nah.
Anyway, I have to hear the whole thing before I can really judge it. This is not Michelle’s best effort vocally. I own both of her past albums, have seen her live with DC and on Broadway. She is better than this.

Stargate has been producing those pop/altenative/contemporary styles for artist lately and if has been pretty repitiviive but they are hot right now because “Irreplaceable” was huge!…Did Ne-yo write this song Brian? he usually collaborates with them

I’ve always tried to like this chick even when other ppl would call her talentless, I’d say her voice was “original” and “unique” but with this song, I can’t help but feel that if it was any other voice singing but Michelle, I’d like it more. The beat and melody is tight, it would have been great with a better/smoother voice on it. Sorry Michelle. Still luv ya tho, keep doing your thing, keep working at it girl

its not a bad song, it reminds a bit of brandy- they hav similar voices but brandy got it riiight. the production of her music it great, the vocals are great the live performances are great (or very good)
michells missing something- the vocals are lacking somehow. i cant really put my finger on it but theres somthing that makes her voice unappealing

Why do you have to compare everything to Beyonce you sound worse than these stans on this board. Now every post is going to be about Beyonce when it should focus on the song and Michelle. MS TANNA, good looking out with the link. I listened to the original version and I like it. It’s definitely something I can see being played on the radio, not so much on urban stations, but as a crossover single. Good for Michelle, b/c thats a good market to target. The Stargate signature sound can definitely be heard in the beginning of the song, but after that not as much.

Haven’t heard it yet..But I bet its not all that..I heard Michelle on the gospel channel tbn..1 day and she cant hold a note….Sounds like she tone deaf or something.

People are getting really besides themselves on here these days… (ie. when Angel posted her pics, when Brian decided not to post his from the Keri Hilson party, #2 for today) I dont understand the point of people continuously visiting this site if they have negative things to say or imply, regarding the people (Angel, Brian, Tianna) who take their time out to post things that we are obviously interested in… Especially if you are one of those people that visit this site on a regular basis, clearly they are doing something beneficial to you, otherwise you wouldnt keep coming back. Stop dissing them and be supportive, or just consider reading another blog…
Always been wonderin where the heck Michelle has been at. I mean, her voice is something that if u hear it– u kno it’s her…. Good to see her pushing the R&B. Maybe she’ll have better luck that Kelz— her gospel album was number 1 for some time when it came out… Good luck to her.
