The Dream – Falsetto
The Dream is finally set to release his debut album, Love (Me All Summer)/Hate (Me All Winter). The songwriter, who is responsible for Rihanna’s hit, “Umbrella” and “Bed,” the song that put J. Holiday on the map, describes this album as a musical that is very visual and appeals to all the senses. “All of my records are singles,” claims The Dream. And that’s not too far from the truth. Love/Hate actually is a fun album. Even though it gets sort of repetitive (with all the “ella’s” and “eh’s”) and the voice can get a tad obnoxious, the records are solid and Dream lays it on thick for fans.
Even with all the controversy that the media has tried to start about The Dream – there have been rumors swarming of him filing a divorce from his wife, R&B songstress Nivea, and they’ve even gone as far to leak photos of Dream and the leading lady for his latest video, the second single, “Falsetto” – the focus remains on his music, and his skill as a writer and producer. He’s not a tabloid artist, people don’t care about the shock value. But he’s definitely put out hits this year.
The Dream – Nikki
I think what I like about the album is that he tries different things as far as melodies, harmonies and interesting vocal arrangements. I see a lot of similarities between The Dream and Prince – and if you know me, I’m all about some Prince. Album favorites and stand-outs include “Nikki,” the infectious and almost obnoxious “Ditch That,” “Livin’ A Lie” (featuring Rihanna) and “Playin’ In Her Hair.”

I think the Dream has some alright songs. He is a little “T Pain-ish” in my book. “Shorty is a 10″ is my shit.
I like the falsetto song. But it would be better if it were sung by someone with a less weird voice. I seriously thought this guy was like 13 when i first heard shawty is a 10.
Can only put up with him for a couple songs.. my tolerance for him is along the lines of T-Pain or Akon…. I’ll pass
The Dream sounds like a kid. I think Mario would have killed Falsetto but I like each of his singles. I may get his cd

I really don’t get the attraction, even to him as a writer. The only song I’ve really enjoyed that was written by him up to now is Rihanna’s “Sell Me Candy”, I thought the “brups” he put on the chorus (I assume he did it) were really effective but that was a joint effort with Makeba Riddick so even then…
I’ll give him a listen and I want to hear more of his writing for other artists before I make a judgement but thus far he doesn’t live up to all the hype.

i love falsetto but after listening to these songs, i’m cringing at hearing aye and ella ella over and over randomly in every song. that is the biggest detraction from the songs. i was considering buying the album but i would have to listen to the rest b/c if he does that crap in every song, i’d rather not waste my money

he is very catchy and apparently thats all you need. he needs to write a hit for his wife nivea cause i actually like her.

why does he say eh eh eh? all the time? obviously its his signature so when he writes for other artists….you can automatically tell he wrote it but why when he sings he says it?

I don’t like it, the only song I’ve heard from him that I like is “Shawty is a 10″ like someone else said you can only listen to him for a couple of songs. I also think as a writer he is overrated. The other day I said I wish he would write Nivea a hit, then I checked her last album and he produced and wrote or co-wrote all the songs I love Nivea but her last album wasn’t has great as her first 2 wich he had nothing to do with. I know that’s her husband but music wise she might want to stray from him on this next one.
