The Dream – Falsetto
The Dream is finally set to release his debut album, Love (Me All Summer)/Hate (Me All Winter). The songwriter, who is responsible for Rihanna’s hit, “Umbrella” and “Bed,” the song that put J. Holiday on the map, describes this album as a musical that is very visual and appeals to all the senses. “All of my records are singles,” claims The Dream. And that’s not too far from the truth. Love/Hate actually is a fun album. Even though it gets sort of repetitive (with all the “ella’s” and “eh’s”) and the voice can get a tad obnoxious, the records are solid and Dream lays it on thick for fans.
Even with all the controversy that the media has tried to start about The Dream – there have been rumors swarming of him filing a divorce from his wife, R&B songstress Nivea, and they’ve even gone as far to leak photos of Dream and the leading lady for his latest video, the second single, “Falsetto” – the focus remains on his music, and his skill as a writer and producer. He’s not a tabloid artist, people don’t care about the shock value. But he’s definitely put out hits this year.
The Dream – Nikki
I think what I like about the album is that he tries different things as far as melodies, harmonies and interesting vocal arrangements. I see a lot of similarities between The Dream and Prince – and if you know me, I’m all about some Prince. Album favorites and stand-outs include “Nikki,” the infectious and almost obnoxious “Ditch That,” “Livin’ A Lie” (featuring Rihanna) and “Playin’ In Her Hair.”

Man, that song, Livin A Lie, with Rihanna is the business for real. That is a really really really good song. I hope he does a video, a real video for it, not that bull they call videoes nowadays. I think he become huge with that song.

I wouldn’t say The Dream puts Ne-yo to shame because unlike The Dream, Ne-yo has written some mature records. The Dream is alright in my opinion. “Shawty is a 10″ grew on me but his vocal arrangement to me is annoying..he might grow on me but I dunno we’ll see.lol..I’m not going to hate on him. I just think some songwriters are better being songwriters than artist because they don’t have that “it” factor. I think that way about Keri as an artist her songs are very average by herself but when she write for others they are really nice…I dunno I think Keri and The Dream needed more preparation on their image before putting out for everyone..lol.but no shade to The Dream he is making a lot of money for her songs this year he did his thing;)
I hope The Dream is very successful despite rumors, and criticism. I personally like him thus far. Falsetto is my new crack at the moment. Now I will say that ella eh eh should be removed from his vocabulary. He is a talented man and I see no reason to pick someone apart from day 1. I don’t do comparisons between artists or songwriters..nuff said. I’m going to listen to more of his music in the days to come.

The-Dream is a genious. Love/Hate is tight (eh). Playin in her hair and luv songs are sequals to bed. A remix with t-pain needs to be done for shawtys a ten. Has any heard The-Dream sing bed? This album is going double platium.

Well I think he’s cool. I just think he need to add some more words to his vocabulary. His cd is actually cool though except for 1 or 2 songs. Especially, for a baby trying to learn how to talk because you hear a lot of oohs and aahs.

I was very skeptical when I found out Dream was even releasing an album………another producer wanabe singer…seen it before, don’t want to hear it anymore….in some cases it is successful as in Ne-yo’s case, but then i heard the CD and I was hooked. Falsetto, Niki and Love Songs are my fave jams and I am loving the song with Rihanna. I don’t necessarily like his voice, it IS ANNOYING, but he is a good songwriter and there are some baby making jams on Love/Hate, and considering R&B is basically sucking right now this was a dope surprise for me.
