I love CL and I just wanted to say that I attended the Whitney Houston comeback concert on December 1st in Malaysia. She sounded great! I loved every minute. Even though she had some cracks in her voice here and there, it was a really good show. I’m pretty sure some of the footage is on youtube. I hope you post about it.-S. GREEN

I can’t come on this post and clown on my girl. All I can say is ummmm….Yeah! She has alot more work that needs to be done cause my girl sounded like she was trying to choke a cat. But I believe Whitney can pull this off if she keeps working on it. I have faith in her.

She didn’t sound good to me I know she has aged and of course the drugs so I really wasn’t expecting her to sound like she use to. Maraih Carey sounds a mess now to she hardley even sings just kind of wispers. Most of the older sigers (Jennifer holiday, sometimes Pati and even Aretha at times) scream through most of their songs now so I think age and the drugs played a major part in Whitney’s vocals being how they are. I still want a comback!

newayz, i think Whitney sounds labored. i hope, though, that she can get back on track and continue to use her voice the best way that she can.

Her voice would never be the same maybe. However, she still better than all the artist quoted here. And she may have lost the power, she still have this “je ne sais quoi” in her voice. Her voice does not sound like anyboy else!!

Who exactly are you talking to because if you read my entire post I was making a point so in case you missed it: When singers get older their voices change I gave you a list of great vocalist who don’t sound like they did 10 or 15yrs ago.

@68 Patti Labelle can’t blow . She does a bunch of screaming,kicking and hollering . Some of you need music lessons 101.Many of you confuse having a level of respect for the older generation with them being able to sing . Stephanie Mills, Anita Baker, Gladys Knight ..I can go on and on,are all real singers . Patti can’t sing for shit ! It’s a shame Whitney have been through all of that drug abuse and would still sing 90% of the new generation under the table .

Unfortunately for Whitney in the singing scale of 1 to 10, Whitney was a 10 and she is being judged by those same high standards today. I personally think it is too early to say whether her voice has been permanently affected by drugs.
Yes your voice does change as you grow older and that change doesn’t necesarriy have to be for the worst. A good singers knows how to work with that change. By the way I saw Gladys Knight and Dianna Ross live in concert and they were absolutley fantastic.
I love Whitney Houston she is the bomb, but I only wish that she didn’t pick up the pipe. All i want is to become a singer, and i wish my voice is as good as Whitneys used to be. She ruined a wonderful blessing and it just makes me mad.
There are some IGNORAMUS people on this blog talking about Whtiney should background and that she aint go it no more. Well, if you dont like, dont listen. The rest of the world will continue to cheer for Whitney because she made her mark in history already as an exceptional singer. All these other so-called singers are perpetrating for real.
I am really pulling for Whitney. These performances are not her best to put it mildly, but a lttle of the old Whitney can be heard in spots. She is older and the smoking..drugs/cigs have definately done damage. It’s sad.
I honetly think if whitney hooked up with a number of singers and went through a series of lessons like anita baker, natie cole, gladys knight, a bit of chrisette michelle, cheryl pepsi riley, the lady from floetry, and even queen latiffa….her voice would be magnificent after about 1.5 to 2 years of training with these stars…she would have so much versatility it would be sickening…yes she messed up her chords with the drugs, but the training would rehabilitate them and give her a variety of patterns for the ones she’s lost.
we can all say whit this whit that ,she knows where she at so lets wait and see wa she gonna do from here .i want me some good music and she is the only one who could do it for me ,but i am gonna be catious coz its to early to say she has kicked her addiction.not worried about the voice coz good singers nomatter wat will always find a way to wok with wat they have.she is got the $100m deal now lets hope she doesnt go spent the dough on something stupid as drugs.i sincerely hope not coz am tired of weakass singers, wannabes outthere
