ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF
Wednesday, January 2, 2008

I’m J. Dakar and, as the new political contributor at Concrete Loop, I will be hooking you up with social and political commentary, mainly focusing on the 2008 presidential election.
Born in Florida and raised in Alabama, I am a true southern gentleman majoring in business administration with a minor in political science and a Distinction in Leadership Studies at Birmingham-Southern College.
I am a member of the Board of Directors at AIDS Alabama and volunteer with the Spinal Cord Opportunities for Rehabilitation Endowment (SCORE).
I formerly served as president of the Black Student Union and co-coordinator of Amnesty International on campus and as state coordinator for the George Phillies presidential campaign.
When I’m not devoting my time and energy to a cause, you can possibly find me working on my skills in the kitchen or mellowing out with music, approximately 75 GB of it. I have been writing online since May of 2001 and have had a passion for politics even longer.

Thank you Concrete Loop for bringing something for those who have an interest in more than what’s being worn on the red carpet. I was wondering if you all was ever going to bring a more well-rounded perspective to the Loop and I’m glad that you did. I definitely take my hat off to you for that. Welcome J. Dakar. I look forward to reading your commentary. It will be well appreciated.

Welcome to the Loop and i also look forward to reading your polical views.
This is why I LOVE Concrete Loop, NO OTHER SITE HAS THE THINGS THIS SITE HAS..while all these other wack ass blog sites are so eager to post LIES AND GOSSIP and MESS concreteloop looks for all the info..THE RIGHT INFO, VALID SOURCES and now gives its readers a little more than the ordinary site and actually serving something we can all use which is KNOWLEDGE!! I think its important to all of us no matter who we are black or white or wateva to actually WANT some insight and want to get involved in politics and not just that but who our next president is. I am so glad to be apart of this site lol…I just thought I should give my thoughts considering our new contributor
thanx

I’m glad to see Concrete Loop getting more political! The primaries will be sweeping through the nation in the coming months, and I doubt people are staying on top of the candidates’ platforms like they should — but we STAY on Concrete Loop lol.
Good Call.

Glad to see CL is taking a step in the right direction and adding a new Political contributer… all Black gossip blogs need to focus more attention on the election because this is one of the most imporatant elections in our lifetime… our nation could have it’s very first African American or Female president… CL is coming correct in 08, you guys are my favorite gossip blog!

Angel,
I also want to commend you on being a visionary. Celebrity blogs are here to stay…whether celebrities like it or not. The minute mainstream media began to “credit” blogs and bloggers for breaking stories and using them as sources in their print publications, I knew something was happening. I mean Perez Hilton has his own reality show and was a co-host on the View. I couldn’t believe it. But I think the more prominent these sites become, there will be a separation b/w the “legitimate” ones (like CL) and the bogus ones( I could name many). And the legitimate ones will be profitable.
I commend you, Brian, and Tianna for boosting the credibility of your site by checking sources, placing value-added content, and it doesn’t hurt when a celeb like Kanye West digs your site.
Again, congrats on your foresight and keep up the good work. It’s always good to see black young people making their own way without bouncing a ball or rapping (no offense to the rappers or the b-ball players)

Glad to see a positive spin on the CL. I hope you represent them well by being bias regardless of color or gender. Due to the fact that your commentary will be more touchy then the other postings about celebrities the comments will be more passionate. I can’t wait to see what people have to say.

I am glad to see this move by Concreteloop. Although, I love getting a dose of daily laughter, I am more interested in the issues that will ultimately have an impact on our lives. To introduce an educated African-American male whose focal point is on political information and progress, allows others to wakeup and see that we are so much more than the appointed title of rapper and thug.
Congrats to you and to the entire Concreteloop family.

Well, look forward to the posts…this is a great idea, by the way… Ever the cynic I must confess that your being attractive worries me…you will draw the same women who type things like “he could get it”… *sighs* But, we’ll see…
Anyway, looking forward to the posts, really… despite my constant garbage postings, I’m very much into political science (political theory, especially)…I also studied Poli Sci…so, again…this should be quite interesting.

Yes, welcome J! Umm.. CL i’m just speechless.. This will actually expose ppl who won’t
get any political coverage to the facts of the upcoming election. Now, MORE ppl will go
vote and the ones that were going to vote anyway may be a little more informed and sure
of their decision. Ppl shouldn’t just vote for Obama because he’s black, am i right? They
need to know what the issues are behind each candidate. I’m super excited!

This should be a nice addidtion. Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, young people must get involved in the political process. All that has been gained in the last 40-50 is in danger of being taken away, from right to vote, assemble and protest, speech, et al. Jenna 6 was an excellent example of activism can achieve (although the leaders wilted like old lettuce, over money of course).
Lay the info on the line, young brother.

Hello J. did anyone ever tell you you favor Vin Diesel? Just a bit though, I’d like to say that you’re an attractive guy and big congrats on your new position with the loop. It’s good to have a political view inserted between the gossip, fashion, and music articles. I look forward to reading your post!
