ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF

I’m J. Dakar and, as the new political contributor at Concrete Loop, I will be hooking you up with social and political commentary, mainly focusing on the 2008 presidential election.

Born in Florida and raised in Alabama, I am a true Southern gentleman majoring in business administration with a minor in political science and a Distinction in Leadership Studies at Birmingham-Southern College.

I am a member of the Board of Directors at AIDS Alabama and volunteer with the Spinal Cord Opportunities for Rehabilitation Endowment (SCORE).

I formerly served as president of the Black Student Union and co-coordinator of Amnesty International on campus and as state coordinator for the George Phillies presidential campaign.

When I’m not devoting my time and energy to a cause, you can possibly find me working on my skills in the kitchen or mellowing out with music, approximately 75 GB of it. I have been writing online since May of 2001 and have had a passion for politics even longer.

About J. Dakar

Cool kid, smart guy, Southern gentleman and brilliant blogger (or so they say).

As much as i like gossip THIS IS MUCH NEEDED!! plus there is nothing better than an intellegent handsome blackman. instead of all these meathead rappers and athletes!! AT LAST!!!!

This is why I LOVE Concrete Loop, NO OTHER SITE HAS THE THINGS THIS SITE HAS..while all these other wack ass blog sites are so eager to post LIES AND GOSSIP and MESS concreteloop looks for all the info..THE RIGHT INFO, VALID SOURCES and now gives its readers a little more than the ordinary site and actually serving something we can all use which is KNOWLEDGE!! I think its important to all of us no matter who we are black or white or wateva to actually WANT some insight and want to get involved in politics and not just that but who our next president is. I am so glad to be apart of this site lol…I just thought I should give my thoughts considering our new contributor

  20. Becca the Promo Mami

I’m glad to see Concrete Loop getting more political! The primaries will be sweeping through the nation in the coming months, and I doubt people are staying on top of the candidates’ platforms like they should — but we STAY on Concrete Loop lol.

    Good Call.

  21. Welcome my good man I look forward to hearing your views on politics and the upcoming election.

    And how can I get a job (I’m sure non-paying but I don’t care) @ the CL?

  22. tigermichal

Glad to see CL is taking a step in the right direction and adding a new Political contributer… all Black gossip blogs need to focus more attention on the election because this is one of the most imporatant elections in our lifetime… our nation could have it’s very first African American or Female president… CL is coming correct in 08, you guys are my favorite gossip blog!

  23. Jay

  30. CapCityChick

Welcome to the Loop!!! Very anxious on reading your political views…

  31. t-h

    Hey,
    welcome to the CL.
now i know where to go for the
    presidential information.

  32. cdnyc

    Angel,

I also want to commend you on being a visionary. Celebrity blogs are here to stay…whether celebrities like it or not. The minute mainstream media began to “credit” blogs and bloggers for breaking stories and using them as sources in their print publications, I knew something was happening. I mean Perez Hilton has his own reality show and was a co-host on the View. I couldn’t believe it. But I think the more prominent these sites become, there will be a separation b/w the “legitimate” ones (like CL) and the bogus ones( I could name many). And the legitimate ones will be profitable.

I commend you, Brian, and Tianna for boosting the credibility of your site by checking sources, placing value-added content, and it doesn’t hurt when a celeb like Kanye West digs your site.

Again, congrats on your foresight and keep up the good work. It’s always good to see black young people making their own way without bouncing a ball or rapping (no offense to the rappers or the b-ball players)

  33. DAMITA

Ok, wow…..what a cutie. And smart too……can’t knock that kinda hustle. Can’t wait to read more from you!

  34. WHYASKWHY

Glad to see a positive spin on the CL. I hope you represent them well by being bias regardless of color or gender. Due to the fact that your commentary will be more touchy then the other postings about celebrities the comments will be more passionate. I can’t wait to see what people have to say.

  35. Amaria

Thats a good look! Welcome J Dakar, I look forward to hearing your perspectives on things….

    *Obama for president*, lol

  36. Paxson

Welcome! I’m looking forward to hear you drop some knowledge!

  37. you’re sexy… and intelligent. u get +10 points for that!!! and im glad CL.com is adding the political news as well, that’s a good look. we need to be more aware of whats going on in the country as far as politics go. welcome to CL.com!

  38. yes

Welcome, just what CL needs, some enlightenment!

  39. MsShe

I am glad to see this move by Concreteloop. Although, I love getting a dose of daily laughter, I am more interested in the issues that will ultimately have an impact on our lives. To introduce an educated African-American male whose focal point is on political information and progress, allows others to wakeup and see that we are so much more than the appointed title of rapper and thug.

Congrats to you and to the entire Concreteloop family.

  40. missrook

YES CL YES! I’m loving it! This is dope for not only this site but for US!

  41. shay

i agree with tt and may i add that you are so so so cute? ^^

  42. Georgia Peach

Welcome!!!! your contribution is greatly needed and appreciated!!

  43. GEM

Well, look forward to the posts…this is a great idea, by the way… Ever the cynic I must confess that your being attractive worries me…you will draw the same women who type things like “he could get it”… *sighs* But, we’ll see…
Anyway, looking forward to the posts, really… despite my constant garbage postings, I’m very much into political science (political theory, especially)…I also studied Poli Sci…so, again…this should be quite interesting.

  44. I MAY ACTUALLY CLICK INTO CL MORE OFTEN NOW. THE BRAIN NEEDS KNOWLEDGE LIKE THE BODY NEEDS A SOUL. SO, SHOW US INTELLECTS WHAT YOU’RE WORKING WITH, BROMAN. WELCOME!

  45. Jainique

WOW, Politics, an Alabama Native and MC reppin…..I’m lovin CL more and more everyeday! Thanxs for this MUCH needed addition CL!!!!

  46. V

  51. Looking fwd to reading some of your positive, productive, posts!

  52. Knuck

Yes, welcome J! Umm.. CL i’m just speechless.. This will actually expose ppl who won’t

get any political coverage to the facts of the upcoming election. Now, MORE ppl will go

vote and the ones that were going to vote anyway may be a little more informed and sure

of their decision. Ppl shouldn’t just vote for Obama because he’s black, am i right? They

need to know what the issues are behind each candidate. I’m super excited!

  53. I think i saw your blog once J Dakar and i hate reading blogs (cept for cl) but it was interesting reading. Welcome to CL.
