Janet Jackson is the cover model for the January ’08 issue of Hong Kong’s Prestige Magazine. The singer is making a comeback in ’08 and let’s just say I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one. Check out the photos and read some snippets from the interview after the cut.
Will you do a big world tour when your album is released?
Yeah. I was actually supposed to tour with the last album, but we didn’t because I was actually in Atlanta and Island asked me if I would consider not going on tour, start the new album and then go on tour.You’re working on a new book that chronicles your struggle with weight?
It’s not necessarily about yo-yo dieting, it’s coming from my soul. It has been tough at times – even when I was younger – so it talks about those times and what triggered me to come out of it. Also it gives little nutrition tips in the back on how I did it. It’s not strictly about nutrition . . . it talks about the struggle that I had.There are conflicting reports of Jermaine being your boyfriend, your fiancé or your husband.
We’re not married. I call him my boyfriend. Jermaine calls me his wife, I’ve heard him say that as well . . . But not yet. I don’t know if that will ever happen. Maybe, I really don’t know. It’s because, at least for myself, this space that we’re in I think is so nice. I feel like maybe marriage is a jinx for me. I’ve done it twice; I’m not trying to be Elizabeth Taylor and do it eight times. Where we are is good and we’re happy and there’s no drama. And plus, I think there’s something about having a spiritual connection where you don’t have to have a certificate to validate the love. So it’s all good – if you make those vows to one another and you know that you have a connection, that’s all you need. I really do think [marriage] is just a way for the government to keep tabs on everybody, I truly do. Now people think you’ve got to grow up and get married and have a family, you don’t have to do that if you don’t want that. Just because everyone else does that doesn’t mean you have to.Where’s your favorite place to be?
I’ve got more than one. Somewhere on an island where the sand is white and the water is turquoise-y, aqua, and it’s nice and warm outside and there’s a beautiful breeze. I live for that. And Europe, I love Europe – and I live for Asia. [ READ FULL INTERVIEW ]

The only thing I don’t like is her hair and its not that its bad but Michael’s wrap on the cover of Ebony looked much better. His hair looked like its bouncy and healthy. Her hair looked a bit damaged. It may be the look they were going for but I not sure that look is cute. But it is High Fashion so it works in that respect.
P.S. Im so glad she is pulling herself by her boot straps and getting her shit together. She need to comeback and shut the game down.

WOW I def. agree with everything that she is saying about the marriage thing. Most guys think im crazy as a girl for not really being hype about marriage. But its soo true labels really complicate things, if u have a good thing why fuck it up? The only reason i would get married is IF I had children because I dont want a child out of wedlock. I mean if a guy proposed id say yes, but im def. not the girl to force/pressure a man into marrying me, its just NOT that serious nowadays!!

Let’s be real, marriage was created for average working people. People who need insurance coverage for themselves and their children and also the tax benefits of being married. When you are filthy rich you don’t need that. People talk about Oprah and Stedman but I agree if you have a committment with someone and you are financially secure, marriage may not be the best option. Look at these celebrity divorces –it’s a big train wreck waiting to happen.

I love Janet. She is my fashion icon because her look is always cutting edge and polished. She looks like a wealthy and successful star without the Christmas tree effect of tons of gold and flashing designer labels. Heaven knows I would give just about anything to have her body and beauty. I just wish that she would make better choices with her photo shoots and aim higher with more classy shots and not be azzed out on a sex sells pilgrimage everytime. #27 Marriage was ordained by God. If you are a believer, you can find its merit throughout the bible. If it isn’t blessed by God it won’t work whether you are rich or poor. The trend today is for instant gratification-what feels good right now then move on to the next feel good thing when that gets too difficult. Marriage works when couples work at it. It won’t be a success on its own. Above all, you much have God all up in it.

To #34, marriage existed long before the bible. So using a Judeo-christian view on the institution doesn’t always work for everybody. You don’t have to be a “believer” to be married and you don’t have to be married to believe. Janet’s not saying she doesn’t believe in the spiritual connection one gets from marriage, but the act in it’s western form has long been a joke. I mean, marriage has been reduced to game shows and reality tv. You don’t need that piece of paper to be joined by the Most High.
