Check out Kimora Lee Simmons and her boyfriend model/actor Djimon Hounsou in a recent issue of Harpar’s Bazaar. The good looking couple spoke about their relationship in the mag. Djimon insists that Kimora isn’t as high maintenance as people think and Kimora says that he is “compelling and sweet.” Here a few snippets:

“My first impression has always been the same: that she’s a beautiful lady, very capable and intelligent and smart with great family values. You see her reality show, and some would call her a quote-unquote high-maintenance lady. Some people may look at it as if it’s a honeymoon stage, but she’s the least high-maintenance lady I’ve ever dated. I’ll bet my hand on that. Or however you say it.”

“He’s a reality check for me, and I’m a fabulosity check for him,” Kimora says. “After my breakup, I thought, I don’t need anything. Russell used to tell me, ‘You look good, you’re wealthy, you’re young, you have kids. Screw the world.’ And I kind of started to believe that. But now I have someone who has the heart, the soul, and the hotness. Who knows? I could be eating my words later, but I really doubt it. If people were betting, they would bet their good money on Djimon.”
SWAPPING NUMBERS
“When you’re not looking, that’s when it happens,” Kimora says with such authority that, though many people have said so before, it seems true only when it comes out of her mouth. “And I have a lot of hang-ups in life with men. I’m not very trusting,” she says enigmatically. “Rightfully so. Read between the lines.”
So Kimora gave Djimon her number. “I’m very good at exchanging numbers with people for business, and that’s what I did,” Kimora recalls. “He said, ‘Are you really going to use that number, or are you going to use it for business?’ That made me think, Oh.” Her eyes dance.
A few days later, Djimon texted her; she called him immediately. “I’m so over that new thing of talking to everyone on the pager,” Kimora says. “I’m much more into old-world, intimate conversations on the phone. I like to write letters.”

I don’t know-I could not stand Kimora for all her wasted flashiness, but after watching her show I gained some respect. I think she is raising her girls to be independent strong women. Yeah she made her fortune off of Russell, but she is maintaining it on her own, which is more than you can say for the average gold digger. I also like that she makes her kids behave for the most part and she is always around them. @39: Russell cheated on Kimora from day one. She did an interview in Vanity Fair where she talked about how Russell was with another woman the night before they got married. People told her not to marry Russell because he was a dog. So the cheating is no suprise.

@7, That is definitely a stereotype. I have dated an African man and they can be so well mannered and are hard workers. Yes alot of them are traditional in their relation to women, but in a good way. Tradition is not always a bad thing. Women do need let a man take on the full role of a man otherwise if you try to take over their spot, you masculinate yourself and it makes it difficult for a man to stay with you.
