MUSIC NEWS: CHRISTINA MILIAN SIGNS WITH MYSPACE LABEL / MORE MARIAH UPDATES / VOTE FOR DANITY KANE’S NEW SINGLE

Looks like Miss Christina Milian is trying to get her singing career back on track. Sources have reported that Christina Milian has signed to a MySpace music label. After being dropped from Def Jam back in 2006, Milian has had roles in a couple films, but was tight-lipped on details about her record career. Over the past year, Milian has maintained that she was in serious negotiation with another label, but we never knew who.

Apparently, this new MySpace label is a joint venture between the popular networking site and Interscope Records. Her last album, 2006’s So Amazing, produced in it’s entirety by Cool & Dre (Christina was dating Dre at the time), had much hype around it, producing the hit single, “Say I,” featuring Young Jeezy, but failed to have any real chart success. Rumors swarmed that Christina had turned down the Rihanna-recorded tracks “S.O.S.”and “Unfaithful,” which were both huge hits for the starlet.

Milian was never very forthright about the conflict between her and Def Jam, but insisted that it were better for the two to part ways. We’ll see, Christina. It’s been said that she’s been recording and still working on a couple of movies. I hope that this time around that she can make it work, because none of her albums have been able to do as well as the labels expected.

It’s been confirmed that Mariah’s 11th studio album, newly titled That Chick, is set for April 1st release.
The follow-up to her mega-selling album The Emancipation of Mimi (which was the biggest selling album of 2005) is said to have production from Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Jermaine Dupri, The Dream, Adonis and Bryan-Michael Cox and Rodney Jerkins. It also boasts guest appearances from Damian Marley and T-Pain.

“It’s kind of strange but I heard a lot of her records and it sound like the album is better than the last album,” Dupri recently told Billboard.

After a rumored listen session in London, more details about tracks (including snippets of lyrics) have surfaced, as well as a confirmed tracklisting for the album. The album jumps between classic Mariah pop hits like “Lovin’ You Long Time” (which has been compared to “It’s Like That”) and the title track, ballads like “Love Story” and urban club bangers like the standout “Migrate,” which features hook king T-Pain and is being considered as a single.

While gearing up for the new season of Making the Band 4, Atlantic Records has called on fans to vote on the new single from Danity Kane. The site allows you to stream two songs, “Damage” and “Pretty Boy.”

On the songs, Danity Kane has taken a more pop-driven direction, which I definitely think is a good look for the girls. D. Woods, Aubrey, Shannon, Aundrea and Dawn are back in the studio and worked with the likes of Bryan-Michael Cox, Adonis, Danjahandz and a few more.
