Apparently, Mariah had a listening session for the new album, and they revealed that the title of her 11th studio album is That Chick. Really, Mariah? I don’t know, I’m a little disappointed about the titled, but still very intrigued about what the new material will sound like.
At the listening session, 10 new tracks were played, including “Migrate,” featuring T-Pain, “Lovin’ You Long Time,” which the writer compared to “It’s Like That” (the first single from Mimi), “Bye Bye,” and “Touch My Body.” Island Def Jam chairman, LA Reid claims that they plan to take That Chick six singles deep, which means it must have some pretty impressive material.
Although it was rumored that Mariah and Janet’s Discipline were to drop on the same day, Mariah’s album has been pushed back for April release, with a single (not sure which yet) dropping sometime this month. We’ll see.
CHERI DENNIS TO DROP FEBRUARY
Cheri Dennis, who has been signed to Bad Boy for years now, dropped her album In & Out of Love via iTunes, but Diddy is gearing up for Cheri to hit stores February 26th.
The follow-up single to last year’s “I Love You,” (which I absolutely adored) titled “Portrait of Love,” is currently #57 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
“Last year, I loved ‘I Love You,’ but the album itself, I wasn’t confident in yet,” says the 28-year-old Cleveland native about the revamped album.
“It was hard to endorse it and support it and push it during that time. But now I can say with confidence, this is a good way to come in. The best meals are slow cooked. I’m just excited now because the timing is so perfect.”
The physical copy will have bonus tracks to sway those who purchased the iTunes release again. Contributions on the album include Rodney Jerkins, Timbaland and Mario Winans, with minimal guest appearances by Gorilla Zoe, Yung Joc and Diddy. You know what, I’m going go out and support Cheri along with Janet on the 26th, because I actually kind of like the album and I think she deserves a shot.

Chris, Alicia & Timbaland still topping the charts
It’s time for some more chart news! R&B and hip hop artists are still leading the charts, with Flo Rida’s “Low,” sitting at the #1 spot on the BillBoard Hot 100, after being on the charts for 11 weeks. Behind the Florida native is Alicia Keys with “No One,” holding steady at #2 (she also has the #1 album in the country with her third studio effort, As I Am). She’s followed by Timbaland and OneRepublic with their crossover hit “Apologize,” and Chris Brown and T-Pain with the dance hit “Kiss Kiss.” Don’t ask how, but Soulja Boy has made the transition from ’07 to ’08, holding the #10 spot on the charts.
Rihanna and hitmaker Ne-Yo sit at #11 on the charts, while Chris Brown is slowly creeping up with this acoustic midtempo, “With You,” produced by Stargate. Other artists are scattered across the charts, some with a couple of different songs.
I’ve gotten a few e-mails about Janet’s positioning on the chart with “Feedback.” Well, it only officially impacted radio on the 7th of January, and has been on the charts for just a week. The single is currently at #66 on the charts, but will probably be one of the greatest gainers for radio next week, and should have a big jump soon.

Anyways, Mimi can name her album whatever she wants, it’ll still be HOT! But the title is still off.
I heard Janet’s songs isn’t poppin off on Soundscan charts just yet, but everyone loves it so we’ll see.
I can’t say I enjoyed either of Cheri’s singles tho Portrait of Love is growin on me. C’mon, Diddy can make HITS so what’s the hold-up Cheri?
And to counter a previous post, I STILL BUY ALBUMS!
Oh yeah, I see Janet is doing better than most folks would like to give her credit for. Her song has only officially been out for 2 weeks and its already at 51. Thats a good look for her. The song doesn’t have to be a monster huge hit as long as it creates a buzz for the album. Then they follow that up with another strong single.
Come on Mariah give us a better album title…but I’m still looking forward to hearing it though…
Cheri is a talented singer–when given the right songs. I liked I Love You for a little while but it quickly grew old, as did Portrait of Love. Sorry boo but you need a different label that will tap into the potential that you have.
The fact that people who released albums in November are still topping the charts says a lot about the current state of the music industry…People are getting sick of the same old shit.
Dang can Mariah comfirm that “That Chick” is her title before ya’ll start attacking her work. Don’t even know if it’s true. And if it is you know she has a good meaning behind it. Ya’ll love her be negative. Complain about artist out today music sucks, then when the Mariah’s and Janet’s come ya’ll still find something small to cry about. Just enjoy life.

Exclusive Review: Mariah’s “That Chick” Is Out Of Control!
Last night in a central London hotel theatre, Def Jam head L.A Reid invited a very exclusive VIP audience to hear the new albums from both his 2 top divas Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. With stringent rules laid down at the top of the evening about not leaving the room for a bathroom visit, handing over all gadgets and returning song word sheets we knew it was about to go down.
Beginning with Janet’s new material which sees Janet reworking her old sounds from the days of Velvet Rope and Control, Janet’s material was quite sexually overt and a little gross (“real heavy like my first period”!) but it was really Mariah’s new material that blew everyone away.
Mariah’s new album, tentatively titled That Chick, saw collaborations with T Pain, Young Jeezy and Damien Marley with production by her long time friend and producer Jermaine Dupri, Will I Am, Rodney Jerkins and The Dream.
The new music with catchier hooks and melodies than ever, even sees Mariah taking on an exciting new musical adventure where she sings in Jamaican patois on her Damien Marley duet “Cruise Control” where she references “dramas” and “baby mamas” and like your favorite rap star Mariah throws down a new Mariahism (“you love yourself some me!”) soon as the album gets into the public domain.
Urban music lovers in the house were really excited about that track as well as hip-hop banger “Heat” produced by Will I Am, “For Real,For Real”, and “Migrate” where 2007′s hit man T Pain hooks up with Mariah but it was the title track “That Chick” with its double entendres which includes a tip of the hat to Michael Jackson with references to his “Of The Wall Classics” that had pop chart taste makers excited claiming it was the number 1 track on the album closely followed by likely international pop hit “Love You Long Time”.
In typical Mariah fashion there were the legendary ballads “Love Story” and tear jerker “Bye Bye” (an ode to people who have passed away) that will have reality pop contestants singing away for decades to come!
One track titled “O.O.C” summed up the night and the return of Mariah – once the albums out it’s gonna be “Out Of Control!”.

This title is not yet cofirmed because I know alot artist change their titles however this title to me is whack and lacks some substance and Mariah is my girl forever and ever lol anyways well lets see how the first sigle goes…Cherrie Dennis song is okay..she needs some good bizz with a new single if she wants to maintain being in the industry
