So, Michelle Williams posted up a recent blog on her MySpace page, updating us on the status of her album and the leaking of the snippet of her new song “Stop This Car.”
“As you guys know a portion of ‘Stop This Car’ was ‘leaked’ on the internet and to my surprise the responses have been so positive! I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t leak, nor can I tell you who did even if my life depended on it! Thank y’all so much for embracing it! It’s truly a different song for me! I almost didn’t record it… I’ll get in to why a little later! So that being said… it looks like it will be my first single (I THINK!). This time around it’s time for you guys to know who I am and I’ll make sure of it! This album will not disappoint… I promise you!”

WILL.I.AM TO RERELEASE SONGS ABOUT GIRLS
Interscope is planning to rerelease Will.I.Am of Black Eyed Peas fame solo album, Songs About Girls. Due to horrible album sales, and a less than impressive run on the charts, the album will be rereleased sometime this year. It charted at No. 38 with 21,000 copies sold and to date has moved 47,108 units – and now has fallen completely off the Billboard charts.
“We went with the wrong single and it sold nothing,” a label insider admits. “We would’ve been in better shape if we had pulled the album, because to relaunch it is harder.”
The label plans to re-release the record in early 2008 with three new tracks. Personally, I don’t think that Will.I.Am needs to focus on being on an artist – he needs to stick to producing. I know Fergie is about to drop a new album, he needs to get cracking on that! I don’t see how a rerelease is going to pump the project up anymore. Looks like he’s pulling a Ms. Kelly.
ON THE SET WITH TIMBALAND, KERI & NICOLE
In December, Timbaland, Keri Hilson and Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls shot a video for the latest single from his Shock Value album, “Scream.” To your left, you will see exclusive video footage from Yahoo! Music of the three on the set of the video.
Everyone looks great. I am really excited to see what the outcome of the video will be, I think the concept looks pretty cool. The video for “Scream” will premiere on January 18th on Yahoo! Music, so be on the look out for that. “Scream” is the last single from Timbaland’s latest album. Also, be sure to watch out for Nicole’s album, Her Name Is Nicole and Keri’s In A Perfect World very soon.

I didn’t like the will-i-am cd, sorry, it was sooooo, damn, i can’t even pinpoint the issue cause to me, the cd was so generic and just loud and crazy…reminded me of b-day.
I don’t like any of Nicole’s singles so far, so i hope timbaland helps her out..and I heard Keri Hilson on the radio yesterday, and her voice is really cute, i’m excited about her now, cause before, i didn’t really even know what she song or didn’t know what songs were to her credit…but i really love her voice. They are both in good hands with Timbaland.
I don’t understand the point of the rerelease, so I have to agree with Brian on that one. He needs to stick to a group and producing for others. I can’t wait to see the scream video!!! Three of my fave artists at the moment, should make for an exceptional collabo. And I wish Miss Michelle all the luck in the world. I saw her in the Color Purple in Chicago as Shug, and she really cut up!!! I was blown away by her performance, and I am sure it will be the same with her CD. Great post Brian!
Rereleases needs to stop if no one was feeling the cd the 1st time we won’t buy it the 2nd time. I think Ushers’ Confessions was the beat rerelease.

I’m hoping Michelle does great with her album…I like the single thatw as leaked…as far as Will goes…some artists need to realize that they are better in their groups rather than solo artists…I love the black eye peas as a group…Fergie didn’t do too bad as a solo artists, but as a group they are the best to me.

Michelle has always been my favorite memeber of DC and I enjoyed it when she went solo. Her voice is very different and distinctive. I like the song too. I hope her album does well. Even if it don’t bring in huge sell numbers I betcha Michelle’s album does better than Kellys!!!!!!!!

I must say, I’m really excited about Keri and Michelle. I have a strong feeling that Michelle (to many’s surprise) will really shine this year. A lot of you all thought Kelly would come up at least half way as big as Beyonce with “Ms. Kelly.” Look what happened. Kelly has a beautiful voice, but she tends to wait around for Matthew to give her something to do. Michelle has always been busy behind the scenes with her broadway, charity work, and recording, so when her album comes out, I won’t be shocked to see her single shoot up the charts. She might even be doing all this without Matthew’s help, so she might not be depending on daddy Knowles so much in the future like Kelly and Bee. And for Keri, she is really on the rise. She has so much potential with her vocals, writing, and striking image, I just see “Star” all over her. There is not much more to say about her, because she’s gonna make it, no doubt.
Will, I never was too intersted on his solo work, though he sounds great on colabos with others. His first single tanked and his style is a huge departure from his early days with BEPs, but I guess thats been obvious to many people. He should just stick to producing like some of you all said, there is always money in that. And as far as Nicole goes, I’m really surprised she isn’t poppin’ off by now. I really liked “Whatever U Like,” and I don’t see why she wouldn’t release that album last year. But if she don’t have that album out by now, she might as well just forget about it, because fans will lose interest after while. Timbo should just focus on Keri now, her steam isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

The will.i.am CD is pretty good. He really did release the wrong song. “She Got It From Her Mama” is trash. He should forget trying to be a rapper and just do his singing thing. Songs like “Heartbreaker” and “One More Chance” sound a lot like Snoop’s “Sensual Seduction” and they’re hitting. He should’ve pushed one of those tracks first.
