Here’s some brand new music from Ashanti. Apparently, this is the first single from her upcoming album, Declaration, not “Hey Baby (After the Club),” which we posted late last year. I guess since those two buzz singles (remember “Switch?”) didn’t do as well as people thought they would. “The Way That I Love You” is interesting though – I actually like it. And I’m not an Ashanti fan. Even though I don’t look to Ashanti for stellar vocal performances, she kind of did her thing on this song. Which isn’t surprising, because Ashanti manages to have a few good songs on her albums. Her debut album still gets play.
Although the track is produced by L.T. Hutton, it has Bryan-Michael Cox-esque quality to it. I think it’s the piano and the vocal arrangement. Either way, I think this song has good potential for radio. The more I listen to it, the more I like it.

The piano playing is beautiful. If the producer toned down the drums some and let the piano be heard more it would make this song even better. Love the song though.
