NEW MUSIC FROM JAY-Z

Thursday, January 31, 2008

jayhova.jpg

♫ Jay-Z - Ain’t I

An exclusive from DJ Clue, Jay-Z releases a new song, produced by none other than Timbaland for the I Am Legend mixtape. Upon downloading the track, I was thinking Jay was just doing it for fun - something strictly for the purpose of the mixtape, but low and behold, Clue screams out, “New music from The Blueprint 3!” and that’s when I had to raise an eyebrow.

Jay-Z, also known as Sean Carter, just put out his album, American Gangster and it seems like he’s already gearing up for something new. With his name all over the media with label disputes, regarding Def Jam and Roc-A-Fella, I think Jay-Z is just taking the route of shaking it all off, and going back to record. The Blueprints 1 and 2 are great albums. Hopefully #3 lives up!

whateva man…i’m ready for him to hang up “Jay-Z” and just be Shawn C. Carter. Its not the same, he’s a different person, and its time to REALLY work at building Roc-A-Fella Records again.

As soon as AG came out, the hype was soon gone. I respect him more as a businessman now than a rapper….sometimes its best to leave out gracefully.

i’m just saying…that’s all i’m saying!

No disrespect, but I am tired of Jay-Z and Beyonce. They’ve oversaturated the market and need to take a break. Seriously.

See the problem isn’t the State of HIP HOP….ITS WHAT PROMOTED BY RECORD LABELS AND PLAYED ON RADIO!!

Please believe REAL HIP HOP is still ALIVE(sans okayplayer), but RECORD LABELS CONTINUE TO PUT OUT HOT GARBAGE cause that’s what SELLS RIGHT NOW!!

very true statements…I believe that real hip hop is still alive also….Its just a shame that when I turn on the radio I can’t hear “real hip hop”..you feel me..so when all that is being promoted is this “bubblegum rap” then to people, it seems like hip hop is dead because most “rappers” are no longer coming out with hit ALBUMS just hit ringtones and catch phrases…..trying to get paid quick

I guess i just miss the back in the day hip hop..back in the 90’s…but most of those artists that are remaining “true” to hip hop get all of my respect….

Umm…can someone explain to what real, ‘Hip-Hop,’ is?

Is Hip-Hop music about selling drugs, bragging about how much $$ you got, how many women you banged. Or is it about discussing topics that affect minorities everyday? I have a hard time trying figure out what people mean, in terms of, what’s real/constitutes hip-hop.

Keep It Comin'

Thursday, January 31, 2008 /

Jay keepin these young boys on their toes! I don’t think this song is complete - it’s a snippet that DJ Clue played and he mostly played the chorus. No rapper can touch Jay lyrically that’s why he can still do it. There are a lot of similar rappers and they definitely try and bite the flow, but no one delivers like Jay. Stop hatin’ and keep appreciatin’ that he’s been giving you hotness for over 10 years. No other rapper can say that they did it consistely like him.

Jay is whassup.

@ #36. I agree with u BUT there needs to be a diverse content for rappers because our culture is very diverse. We hve people who are from the hood, suburbs, middle class n high class that listen to hip hop. So that’s y there are artist like Common n Talib Qualee, and Rappers like Yong Jezzy ,Lil Wayne n Boosie who talk about real hood ish and personally I love it! I love the diversity in music. The problem is that the RECORD COMPANIES don’t really promote there artist as much as they do the street atrist music. So until then we will keep hearing about how much $, drugs n women they can sleep with. @37. “NO RAPPER CAN TOUCH JAY Z LYRICALLY” LMAO! PLEEEAAASE, LIL WAYNE has been doing that for years now the guy is a genious. as I said earlier JAYZ NEEDS TO GO BACK IN TO RETIREMENT!
END OF STORY! P.S. him n B needs to go into seclusion for like a year.

I just have to say a few things, what’s crazy to me is you all complain about Jay and Beyonce but i am sure you all have purchased something from them. Not only that they are entertainers what are they supposed to do? Just stop working because a few people think it’s all about them. The crazy part is aside from Kanye and a few other people who can you name that’s doing it like either one of them? For real? Janet is okay but her production has fell off, Ciara is okay but can she really sing? Mary is old but who is complaining about Mary stopping, and just like Jay says it’s funny how Rock& Roll artist can perform well into their 60’s but rappers have to stop. Like he says, he made “Big pimpin and Give it to me and was named as a critically acclaimed rapper, he make some thought provoking ish you all question whether he fell off” i am with him. He is damned if he do and damned if he don’t , personally i hope he never stops. Nas is on his level but Nas doesnt put out like Jay, Kanye is hot, Common, TI is not even in the running no more after the nut crap he pulled, Jeezy and Rick Ross ahh Fab has always been hot but looked over, so now some one tell me who is there to listen to?

PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT WHAT’S HOT RIGHT NOW IS WHAT PEOPLE ARE LISTENING TO AND BUYING. WHETHER YOUR LIKE IT OR NOT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER CONSIDERING YOURE THE MINORITY.

JAY HAS A CLASSIC DELIVERY AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO BIG THINGS. MAYBE IF WE START CONGRATULATING, RATHER THAN KNOCK THE BRUH FOR BEING A SUCCESSFUL, STRONG BLACK MAN, WE WOULD BE MUCH BETTER AS A PEOPLE.

OTHERWISE, WE JUST SOUND LIKE THE SAME HATING ASS BLACK PEOPLE. ONE CRAB TRYING TO PULL THE AMBITIOUS CRAB BACK INTO THE DAMN BARREL.

Come with it Jay! If Jay was to leave what would be left of hip hop right now? You’d have a bunch of complaining ass rappers mad because the same people saying they want something different aren’t buying their albums. And you’d be stuck with the one hit wonder Soulja Boys and all those other one hit wonders who aren’t worried about longevity but rather what song will get popping in the clubs and make them a quick buck off ringtones. Jay always brings something to the game whether you love him or hate him he brings real music.

A stylist did that…the same woman who brought you Diddy’s shiny suit… She’s got an eye for menswear… It was a very smart thing to do…he was basically a model, a super model, but nevertheless, a model… But I guess he deserves the credit for being a popular enough figure for her to pull it off… She will forever be remembered for changing urban wear…

As for the song…I don’t know exactly what you think is separating Jay Z from the fold…he’s saying the same stuff even if you consider him to think of smarter ways of going about it…ultimately, they all lead us to guns and dope and bit**es. I don’t know…this is the most pseudointellectual generation ever…

I think the reason why people want Jay to stay retired is b/c of his rhymes. When you think about it, he’s damn near 40 rapping about how much drugs he sold like 11 years ago (pathetic) and how he’s rolling in all this dough…*coughs* (pathetic)…talks about how he’s the best rapper..compares himself to God…dude is beyond…PATHETIC…lol!

Mary J is old too, but the difference is that she sings about things that people can relate to…can’t nobody relate to Jay’s rhymes except for black Hollywood. GTFOH

FOR THE RECORD…..

This song is NOT new and it’s NOT from the Blueprint 3. Jay recorded this over a year ago for Timbo’s Shock Value album, but it wasn’t done the day of the deadline, so it didn’t make the cut. This is NOT going on any album for Jay and that’s a fact.

However, the word right now is that Jay is actually doing a collabo album with Mary J on a Best of Both Worlds type tip. And if this goes down, you know to expect a classic because every song they have done has been a classic!

61.

So Jay should retire and leave the music up to the guys around now like Lil Wayne who mumbles about the same thing getting head, trick swallow and whatever fashion designers name that’s about to penetrate the thick drug fog he’s in.

How can people say someone needs to sit down and retire? So because he’s gonna be 40 soon he should give up something that he loves? It’s obvious Jay isn’t still rapping for the money or so he can buy a fly new Benz he does it cause he loves the culture. If Jay has reached the age of retirement I need to go hit up my grandmother and ask her why the hell she still drags herself to work anymore because by some peoples standards she should’ve hung up her work pumps 24 years ago.

Thursday, January 31, 2008 /

Yeah the song isn’t new this is from MTV:

Is Jay-Z pulling a Jay-Z and dropping another album just a few months after delivering his last LP? (Remember, he used to average a new album every eight or nine months.)

On Wednesday night, the Internet went crazy when a Timbaland-produced Jay song called “Ain’t I” leaked.

The record had several drops from DJ Clue promoting it as a song from Blueprint 3 and saying that we can also find it on his mixtape I Am Legend Part 1. Needless to say, fans and music industry insiders alike started buzzing because talk of this album came out of nowhere. The song’s leak is especially strange since it seems like Jay’s current album, American Gangster, hasn’t run its course yet. Only two songs have been released from that opus, and Def Jam recently sent out promo copies of the record “I Know,” signaling that it’s the next single.

Still, with lyrics on “Ain’t I” that relate to Jay-Z’s current state of affairs (”I took a pay cut to become a exec/ So the next mother—-er can earn his paycheck/ And even though these n—as talk greasy ’bout me/ Ask these n—as how they gonna eat without me!”), people think that there’s some validity to rumors about the impending release of Blueprint 3.

“I’m a hustler’s hustler/ a gangster’s gangster/ I’m a rapper’s rapper/ Your favorite, ain’t I?” Jay-Z spits. And the beat reminds you of the vibe from his back-in-day Timbaland collaboration “Lobster and Scrimp.”

Well, MTV News contacted Jay-Z’s rep Wednesday night. Jay’s spokesperson said that, while the song may be new to the general public, it is an old recording that was previously unreleased. Jigga’s rep also said he has made no announcement about a new LP, Blueprint 3 or otherwise.

I dont like any of the stuff on the radio today you know what i do instead of trashing other artist i turn that bullshit off and hit cd to some Jay. Co-sign #69! That Iamdarkqua or however you spell that retard’s name is an idiot. Nigga you don’t speak for the whole world. You may not buy J or B’s albums but obviously millions of other people are because they’ve both sold more records than anyone in their genre. Jay is on top of the rap game and Beyonce is on top of the rnb/pop game so don’t hate the players hate the game. They must be doing something right since they’re still on top. Jay is a fucking legend and got the hottest chick in the game who’s on top of her game on his side and his 500 mill so he living just fine with or without ya’ll dumb niggas hate.

LMAO @ people getting upset because they’re favorite artist can’t get no shine and always telling J and B to sit down so their fav artist can finally shine. LMAO What does that say about your fav artist? That’s a damn shame that J or B has to sit down in order for people to shine. They should take that as a compliment. LMAO

Anyway this joint is Fiyah Hov is doing his thang and he’s still the best rapper alive hands down. When Wayne gets a classic album then he can be compared to Hov. Deuces!

#74 How is Beyonce not a legend when she’s lead singer of the best-selling female group of all time and was the first female artist to be honored as an international artist of excellence which only legends like Michael Jackson has received. She’s the most popular and successful black female artist and the world compares every black female artist to her so how is she not a legend? GTFOH Who cares if she’s only got 2 solo albums you can’t disregard her DC albums. She’s been in the game 11 years and is on top so get the fuck outta here. You sound so stupid.

As far as the song goes…it’s okay. I’m a Jay-Z fan so compared to his other material it’s alright. Blueprint 1 is a classic, then Blueprint 2 was good just had too many fillers. So I hope Blueprint 3 is good but I don’t know if he can top the first one. He was in his prime then but I was impressed with his effort on the American Gangster Cd.

Number 60# is right: This is not a new song slated for Jay-Z’. The song was originally supposed to be on Timbaland’s Shock Value but Hov didn’t like the lyrics. The song didn’t make the deadline thus the song was scrapped. Timbaland was really disappointed in the fact that the song never made the album but i guess they came to some agreement and now you are hearing the song now on a mixtape. The original version of the song is better than the one your hearing now. This version sounds like a rough draft. Nevathaless i am a big fan of Timbo’s production and Hov definatley killled it vocally

I like Jay-Z as a rapper and I respect his hustle. But he played himself a couple of years ago when he said “peolpe aint tryna hear no 38 year old rapper” or something to that affect. At the time many speculated that this comment was a hidden diss at LL. but now his own words are coming full circle to bite him in his own ass. Artist never stop being artist and they will always have the need to create no matter what age they are. Hopefully he understands that now.

Why do people always gotta compare Lil’Wayne to Jay? This sounds like Bey stans comparing Rihanna to Beyonce all the damn time and putting Rihanna down to uplift Bey. Y’all doing the same thing with Jay and Wayne. Wayne has potential to being the best but he is not quite there yet. He needs to be more humble and have a consistent subject to his songs because he sounds like he is freestlying on his albums and it’s just disorganized. I know that Jay freestyles but he is able to stay on topic. Jay is a legend because he has been in the game long and he has had good mentors such as Jazzo and RIP Big L. Jay switched his flow up because everyone then was comparing him to Big L. Honestly Big L to me is better than Jay and even Jay would agree with that lol but now he has his own distinct flow that he is more famous for. Jay thinks Wayne has potential of being the best there is no beef between them. Jay is a grown man and he ususally handles himself that way. All you people defending jay are idiots. The man knows how to defend himself and knows how to do it respectfully. So all you fanboys chill because Jay can’t stand fanboys and he said it himself lol so with that said rest your fingers typing and go take your pills. Wayne is an upcomer with one classic album while Jay is a legnd with plenty so how can you guys compare? nonsense

JAY IS FIYAH, WHEN HE’S ON, WHICH HE IS ABOUT 80% - 90% OF THE TIME. THE 10% - 20% DIFFERENTIAL HAS BEEN HOLDING AT EITHER PAR (OKAY), SUB-PAR (EHH) LEVEL, OR LIKE ANY OF THESE OTHER RAPPIN CATS, HAS HAD SOME JOINTS THAT MISSED THE MARK COMPLETELY BY EITHER RHYME, CONTENT, OR SUBSTANCE…(TUPAC & BIG INCLUDED).

TO CALL THE BLUEPRINT 2 A GREAT ALBUM, IS AN OBVIOUS SIGN TO COP REASONABLE DOUBT, VOL. 2: HARD KNOCK LIFE, AND THE BLACK ALBUM TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT GREAT IS/WAS FOR JAY.

MAY I DIRECT YOUR BITTER ASS TO KINGDOM COME PLEASE
JAY: “remember when we were young and we thought slangin raw was the end all be all…etc.”
There has been no song about pimpin or bitches (except 99, but again that was not literal), I think it shows a real disconnect when some people criticize rappers without being familiar with thery’re work instead of someone takin u seriously u just sound like a bitter old man yellin “turn down that damn rap music!!” Jay is not mainstream really and as you can see from the posts the younger generation support *clutches chest in agony* Lil Mama and *sobs* Lil Boosie!! they cant listen to a song like “Beach Chair” and appreiciate a song about introspection or “Blue Magic” and recognize the Oliver North reference and say dammmn that ni**a’s sick!
and the differnce between the working class (no disrespect) is that artists old and young get to do something they actually love doing how do you retire from something you love? Its easy for us to imagine because the thought of Monday makes ky stomach turn every weekend -but anyway heres a nugget for you that my aunt used to always tell me when I was bitchin “Instead of condeming the dark , why dont you

I’m straight tired of Jayz. I think he is one of the best rappers of our time- but to me, the baddest of them all- will always be TUPAC and BIGGIE. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again- dem boyz were DE BADDEST. If they were still alive, JayZ would not be flowing like he has been. How long this dude plan to rap- until he 80 years old? Even Curtis Blow and others who pioneered Hip Hop have taken a back seat from rap and ventured into other things a long time ago.

LMAO @ 129 so true I’ma hip-hop fan but people are entitled to what they believe in.

@ Angel_Minded

I know you might not be the biggest Jay neither am I but he did switch up his style. “Kingdome Come” was a very mature album done by Jay-z. However this style is not what people were use to. They were use to the smooth hustler Jay. I thought “kingdome Come” lyrically was good but his production was terrible on that album. Jay is known for having the best producers on his albums but he just came up short off that album. Now “American Gangster” was a conceptual album so he had to go back to his “old ways” because 1.) it was mainly about a hustler. 2.) People bitched and complained about his style changing and that they missed the old Jay..oh yeah “Say Hello” was the best song on the album lol,but yeah Jay is very consistent on subject matters when you listen to his albums. He not better than Nas though lol..It’s just that Jay likes the money so he makes club banger songs to sell records Nas is pretty much sticking to his style that made him unique he would never sell out to mainstream lol that’s his thing though.

WHATEVER to all ya’ll that disagree w/ what I said about Jay he is way out of his prime. Def Jam or whatever label he was running was gonna kick his a$$ out cuz his album was weak n he cuased so many ppl to loose their jobs on his behalf. So he left b4 they could do so. He should stick to getting paper away other ways than rapping. YES LIL WAYNE may be a lil cracke out, but he is still a genious lyrically n scholastically. Come on! Jay even gave Wayne his credit, so if can do so y not the rest of ya’ll see that too? WHA WHA I rest my case n will not make any further comment on my opinion ( which is right) lol XOXO

Im probably one of the top Timbo fans but this seem like one of his throw away tracks the Flo-Rida joint he did is harder than this, thats just speaking on the beat, you can’t deny the lyrics its hard. On Jay retiring, you can’t deny he loves music if I had endless money to do what I wanted why not do what I love all day. Jay on his 8th( I think) solo album think about people who came out before him thats still dropping albums. Janet, LL, Mike,

THE G.O.A.T.

The thing is Jay DID retire, all be it for a minute, but in that time MANY RAPPERS VIED FOR THE CROWN AND COULDN’T HOLD ON TO IT. WEEZY, 50’s ALWAYS AFTER IT, T.I., KANYE, ETC.

NONE OF THEM CAN RAP BETTER THAN JAY - THEY SAY IT THEMSELVES THAT’S THE ONLY REASON WHY PEOPLE WANT HIM TO RETIRE. THEY’LL NEVER PUT OUT AN ALBUM BETTER THAN REASONABLE DOUBT, DYNASTY, AMERICAN GANGSTER, KINGDOM COME, BLUEPRINT 1&2, AND HE HAS MORE. NOT TO MENTION HIS GUEST APPEARANCES, GHOST WRITING AND MIXTAPES.

They say that he’s never going to fall off and they can never get on as long as he’s rapping. The thing is even like when he retired, his music is still going to spin and people are always going to want him to spit on something. It’s the gift and the curse that he and Beyonce have - they’re the best in their genres. Period.

JAY’S THE RULER OF THE RAP GAME AND HE’S YOUR GIRL’S FAVORITE ARTIST. HE SAID THAT YEARS AGO AND IT STILL STANDS TRUE.

This track is incomplete, but it’s FIYAH! DO THAT SHIT HOV.

THE G.O.A.T.

Thursday, January 31, 2008 /

Also, all the haters saying he’s OLD - HE’S THE SAME AGE AS ABOUT EVERY OTHER RAPPER OUT THAT’S TRYING TO GET HIS SPOT. Mostly every rapper is in their late 20’s early 30’s. Jay’s 37. WAKE UP BEFORE YOU USE “RETIRE”. are

THEY’LL NEVER TAKE HIS SPOT.

This track is hot!!! jay keeps em coming. He didn’t get enough credit for the American Gangsta cd which was his best cd in a while. I guess people aren’t happy unless they are hating.

@159 - Rihanna just reached platinum in the US whereas Jay’s about 200K away from being platinum in the US (both are platinum worldwide). Jay just came out in Nov. whereas Rihanna came out in June. Can’t compare - besides. Jay’s sold tons of albums. Also, Rihanna’s on her 3-4 album and combined hasn’t sold 10 million. The shine she’s been receiving has been through modeling - not through here artistry singing. She hasn’t done well in reviews of her concert tours (stage presence, dancing, singing and ticket sales have sucked). She might be the one getting dropped. Jay can’t get dropped - he owns his label.

This didn’t sound like the whole thing when Clue played it, but Jay’s chorus and the beat is enough to hear this is a banger.

Please keep it coming Jay. “Can’t leave rap alone the game needs me.” - IZZO

It amazes me how some of you really think a wealth of Jay Z and Beyonce knowledge qualifies as meaningful information… You REALLY do… I believe you now…when you charge other people with being “stupid” because they’ve not mastered every “Bigga” blurb, you really mean it, don’t you? Wow…I guess everybody got their somethin’….

UUUGH at the people who purposely come to a topic that they feel is irrelevent just to comment on how irrelevant they think it is SMH
@GEM the topic is Jay-Z so what happens is people who are both unfamiliar and familiar with his music discuss said topic. The issue people have with you and other folks is that you make broad statements about a topic of which you have no knowledge ie., being Jay-Z’s music and obviously Hip-Hop in general,so people charge you accordingly due to your inaccuracy based on this subject,. So basically its just a way of saying WTF you dont know what your talking about !!
no one beileves that knowing a Jay-Z line is going to win them the Pulitzer they just happen to be fans (as am I) who appreciate the music
Now if you and Ken dont find the subject manner pleasing , may I suggest that instead of ramblin like a bunch of out of touch old folks you invest that time in something that matters to you
Ken-can broadcast weekly features on everyday working class heros
Gem-can start a blog entitled A SISTA”S GUIDE TO HATING BEYONCE (and any other black female celebrity that maks you feel inadequate)
AND I SAW U TRYNA START THAT B’ MESS , DONT GET YOU PANTIES WET THINKIN HER FANS ARE GONNA COME OUT,LADY PLEASE LIVE LET GO AND GIVE IT UP!!! KING JESUS COME GET YOUR DAUHTER!

here is my two cents…anyone that is a devil worshiper is not a good person to look up too… My flesh, no nigga could test
My soul is possessed by D’Evils in the form of diamonds and lexuses
The exorcist, got me doin’ skits like Homie
You don’t know me, but the whole world owe me
Strip!
Was thought to be a pleasant guy all my fuckin’ life
So now I’m down for whatever, ain’t nothing nice
Throughout my junior high years it was all friendly
But now this higher learnin’ got the Remy in me
Liquors invaded my kidneys
Got me ready to lick off, mama forgive me
I can’t be held accountable, D’Evils beating me down, boo
Got me runnin’ with guys, makin’ G’s, tellin’ lies that sound true
Come test me, I never cower
For the love of money, son, I’m givin’ lead showers
Stop screamin’, you know the demon said it’s best to die
And even if Jehovah witness, bet he’ll never testify, D’Evils…
