Detectives on Tuesday arrested a man suspected of killing a New York woman who was last seen more than seven months ago, authorities said.

Kendrick Williams, 32, was arrested in New York City after forensic tests on his car linked him to the victim, police said.

Williams was expected to be charged with second-degree murder in the death of Stepha Henry, who disappeared in May, authorities said. No body has been found.

No details are being released on the exact nature of the evidence found in the car, Miami-Dade County police spokesman Robert Williams said.

Henry, who would have turned 23 in September, and her 16-year-old sister, Shola, came to Florida just before Memorial Day to celebrate Shola’s birthday. They stayed with relatives, who last saw Henry on May 29 getting into a black sedan driven by a man. [ READ MORE HERE ]

@34, you better preach. how you gonna give the police accurate information on dude if all you can say is, ” his name Pookie and he be at the arab store.” no sir, i want to know your name and your mommas maiden name.

  3. Reminds me of a few years ago when Latoyia Figueroa and Natalee Holloway went missing.

The American press/media are so biased & prejudiced in what they present to the people; you would think someone would create a national newspaper, news show and the like dedicated solely to our communities.

They don’t want you to know what’s going on in our communities, though, and it’s a shame that so many people are unaware and that there’s no outlet for information specifically relating to us.

D.C. mom charged in ‘possessed’ girls’ deaths
Authorities estimate the four girls had been dead at least two weeks

Mother charged in deaths of 4 girls

Jan. 10: Washington, D.C., authorities say they have charged a mother, found in her home with the decomposing bodies of her children, with murder in their deaths.

    updated 11:15 a.m. ET, Fri., Jan. 11, 2008
WASHINGTON – A woman found in her home with the decomposing bodies of her four daughters was suspected by a social worker of holding one of the girls hostage as early as April, city officials said Friday.

An investigation into the family was closed weeks later because child and family welfare officials thought the family had moved to Maryland — even though authorities there couldn’t locate the family.

“It’s completely unclear why they made that determination,” said Carrie Brooks, spokeswoman for Mayor Adrian M. Fenty. The city is continuing to investigate.

The bodies of the girls — ages 5 to 17 — were found Wednesday when deputy U.S. marshals served an eviction notice at the apartment in one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. Banita Jacks was charged with four counts of first-degree murder after reportedly telling investigators that the children were possessed by demons and died in their sleep.

The oldest girl, Brittany Jacks, stopped attending classes in early March. A social worker from the Booker T. Washington Public Charter School went to the home April 30 and called police after she was denied entry, Fenty said.

The social worker reported that after speaking to Jacks she appeared to have mental health issues and “that she was possibly holding Brittany hostage by refusing to allow her to attend school,” Fenty said. A police officer who responded also was denied entry, but Jacks told him she was home-schooling the children.

Fenty said social workers visited the home several more times in the following weeks, but there was no answer when they knocked at the door. He said the case was closed May 16 because they believed the family had moved to Maryland after finding an address of a relative they believed she was living with.

By mid-June, however, Charles County officials said were not able to locate the family and “nothing (was) done to reopen the case,” D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles said.

A spokeswoman for the D.C. Child and Family Services agency referred all calls to the mayor’s office.

Sabrina Brown, vice president of Local 2401 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, which represents city social workers, said they are extremely overworked and urged people to look for solutions.

“We just need to talk, not to blame,” she said.

It is unclear when the girls died. The city’s medical examiner has said the bodies were likely in the apartment for more than 15 days.

Jacks appeared in D.C. Superior Court on Thursday, and told police that the deaths occurred before a utility turned off her electricity, which prosecutors said was in September 2007, according to charging documents.

Lloyd Nolan, a public defender representing Jacks, said the defense team would have no comment on what Fenty said.

Dozens of toys, fresh flowers and balloons lined a fence outside the home Friday. “Rest in peace” was scrawled in black magic marker on some of the balloons, and a white card read “With Deepest Sympathy.” A child’s hair dryer, still in its plastic wrapping, was placed nearby.

Make sure you are smart about who you ride out with ladies. Just b/c the car and the game is tight, doesn’t the man’s mind it right!

@63:Reminds me of a few years ago when Latoyia Figueroa and Natalee Holloway went missing.

The American press/media are so biased & prejudiced in what they present to the people; you would think someone would create a national newspaper, news show and the like dedicated solely to our communities.

    **************************************************************************************************

Oprah is interviewing Natalee Holloway’s mother today on her show (along with Marion Jones).

This is my perpetual argument about BET. BET could have been that outlet for us. A way for us to communicate what is going on in our community politically, socially, economically, etc.

We always complain about the way white-controlled media outlets portray us and how THEY won’t LET us on their networks or tv shows. But when we had the resource/outlet to control our images…we sold it to the highest bidder. But like Bob Johnson told Time magazine, ‘he is not the savior of the black race. He’s a business man and his job is to make a profit’ (paraphrase). So I guess you can’t be informative, entertaining and profitable at the same time, huh????

I’m glad they caught this fool. I hope they have enough evidence to convict him and send him away for good!!! People like this don’t need to be free!!!

Things women can do to be safe!

Most women establish a DD when they go out partying together! We all know that’s the “Designated Drivers”, who is the only one that drives when everyone else drinks!

Well ladies, the DD should also be the DT, “Designated Thinker” who stays sober to makes decisions and exercise good judgement for the group! No one ever leaves her sight during the night! She decides…who you can and can’t dance with; how low you can go when you hit the floor; when you’ve had enough to drink; what type of drink you can handle; who you can talk to and when its time to go home!

The DT should carry a whistle, so that when she blows it…everyone immediately stops what they are doing and reports to her! No one argues with her decisions! The DT should conduct practice drills on Wednesday nights to decide who’s ready for night life! And, anyone wanting your phone number has to get it from the DT after she interviews him.

I know these ideas are a little over the top, but women are known to make bad decisions after a few drinks or puffs! Having a DT will makes sure you have backup! Someone has your back! Alcohol levels the playing field between men and women! Most guys go out to get drunk to act a fool, and a drunk female acts no better!

    developing…!

The news balance is completely unfair to minorities, in that we don’t receive the same amount of news coverage as “others”.

    Thanks CL for the update.

I just don’t get it anymore I swear I don’t. It is so much stuff going on it’s crazy. I hope that the young woman body is recovered so that the family can give her a proper burial as well as have some closure R.I.P.

  16. @ #39 HELLO! Say it again sis.

How u just hop in the car with someone? I had an old high school friend that I met up with about two months ago. We met in a busy, well lit parking lot where there was an officer on duty. (My idea of course) We talked for a while and he asked me to take a ride with him. Hell to tha naw! Just because I knew him from high school doesn’t mean that I can trust him. You can’t put all your trust in people just cause they “seem” nice and trustworthy. My high school friend was kinda upset but who cares? He had two choices. Either get with it or get over it. Needless to say I haven’t heard from him since. LOL But I really don’t give a f^ck cause my life could have been in danger. And if my life is in danger then his life is even more in danger. My people have a tracking device on me so they know where I’m at every second of the day. Just be careful ladies. Most of all, be smart.

RIP to Stepha. Stories like this really sicken me.

How sad is it that one has to rely on a celeb gossip site to get updates on the cases of missing Black women in thsi country?

  18. #70: Exactly! I lost all respect for Bob Johnson after that Viacom deal was announced. Yes, he is a businessman and the primary purpose of any business is to make a profit, but after a point some kind of responsibility has to come in effect; you can, in the immortal words of the late, great Johnnie Cochran, “do well and do good at the same time.”

This the first I’m hearing about this!!! We really need to get our own National Network, not BET thats own by white people and not TV One that plays all old re-runs. We need a place where we can get real black news. If this was a white girl it would’ve have been broadcasted over the world and People and US weekly would be doing cover stories.

  22. Kenny Delva

It pains me a great deal to see things like this still exist in our world. I mean to venture away from home just to have some vacation time and then end up missing and murdered. It took authorities 7 months to find her killer.
My deepest condolences goes out to her family. Rest In Peace Stepha…You’ll be missed mama!!!

    God Bless!!!

u can trust anyone it doesnt matter who and what they r. stay alert and protected and never walk with ur back towards anyone because they will come after u especially when denied anything. they need to close the night clubs and stop serving liquor and everyone needs to be in their homes by 6pm nationwide, because most disappearances usually happen after dark when perpertrators think no one is watching. we need to boycott the nightlife and the streets. u can enjoy a potential friend much more in the day time than at night. people like hiding at night also because if they fail at one then they will prey on others and it is not as noticeable. they alwys take u to a place that they r familiar with. LADIES STAY AWAY FROM ALL OF THEM REMEMBER ALL THAT GLITTERS MAY NOT AND NEVER EVER IS GOLD. IF WE CANT HAVE FUN DURING THE DAY THEN WE SURE AS HELL CANT HAVE FUN DURING THE DARK HOURS. MOST STORES CLOSE AT 6PM SO WHY CANT WE ALSO CLOSE AT 6PM. LADIES STAY HOME ENJOY UR FAMILY AND ASK FOR FINGER PRINTS AND A PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION EVEN THOUGH THIS CANT ELINMINATE A PERSONS THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS BUT U SURE AS HELD CAN REJECT.

STEPHA HENRY AS WE KNOW DID WHAT WAS EXPECTED OF HER AS A YOUNG LADY AND A DARLING DAUGHTER BUT WAS TO TRUSTING.

TO THE HENRY FAMILY UR DAGHTER WILL BE AT PEACE NOW AND HER SOUL WILL LIVE ON IN OTHERS ESPECIALLY THOSE WHOSE LIVES SHE HAS TOUCHED AND LOOKED UP TO HER. PROTECT UR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND KEEP UR STRENGRTH AND FAITH IN GOD HE WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON US. GOD BLESS ALL U READERS OUT THERE AND STAY SAFE.
