POLITICS: NEW HAMPSHIRE RECAP
Wednesday, January 9, 2008
Senator Hillary Clinton rode a wave of female support in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday night. Clinton won the primary by 39 percent to 36 percent, injecting a sorely needed infusion of optimism to the campaign of the candidate widely dismissed this week as a has-been by media pundits. With virtually all polls suggesting the New York senator would go down to a major defeat Tuesday, her supporters braced for a double digit blowout by Senator Obama - even as she was still reeling from a disappointing third place showing in Iowa last week.
Meanwhile, in the Republican primary, Senator John McCain revived his presidential bid with a Lazarus-like win. McCain had 37 percent of the vote, while Romney trailed with 32 percent, according to results posted by the Associated Press. McCain’s victory dealt another serious blow to Romney, the former governor of neighboring Massachusetts. Romney campaigned hard and spent heavily as he sought wins in Iowa and New Hampshire, only to come up short in both states.
Clinton’s surprise victory now sets up a dramatic one-one-one gender-dominated contest for the presidency between the first major party female presidential candidate and the first major party African-American candidate. And it guarantees that the Democratic presidential primary contest continues tooth-and-nail through Feb. 5, when Californians will weigh in during their “Tsunami Tuesday” primary.
Clinton’s victory came after her advisers had lowered expectations with talk of missteps in strategy and concern about Obama’s momentum coming out of the Iowa caucuses.
Hillary Clinton gets emotional in N.H.
“I come tonight with a very, very full heart,” said an emotional Clinton, who had been accused of being too scripted and cold. She acknowledged a moment on the campaign trail which many said was a turning point in her effort - a rare display of emotion this week in which she teared up talking about her passion for the country and its future.
“In the last week, I listened to you,” she said, “and in the process, I found my own voice. Now together, let’s give America the kind of comeback that New Hampshire has just given me,” she said to cheers.
McCain’s victory was crucial; New Hampshire was widely viewed as a make-or-break state. He has invested nearly all of his limited resources in New Hampshire, which he won in his 2000 bid against George W. Bush. His second attempt for the White House, however, was in trouble last summer because of weak fundraising and a blurred political message, leading him to fire senior advisers and refocus his energy on New Hampshire. This success gives McCain a jolt of momentum heading into Michigan and other early primaries and caucuses. It’s a setback, though, for former Massachusetts Governor Romney, who lost to Huckabee in Iowa on Jan. 3 and had been counting on victories in Iowa and New Hampshire to gain front-runner status.
To cheers of “Mac is back,” McCain told supporters Tuesday night, “My friends, you know I’m past the age when I can claim the noun ‘kid,’ no matter what adjective precedes it. But tonight, we’ve sure showed them what a comeback looks like. Tonight we have taken a step, but only the first step, toward repairing the broken politics of the past and restoring the trust of the American people,” he said.

I have threw my support behind Hillary, I was scared for her after Obama won Iowa. But she was able to lock the win in N.H.
And you know what I am sick of people saying she is too stern or cold, cause those are the same people who said “Oh NO, we dont need a over emotional president” when she teared up during a discussion a couple days ago. Its like she cant win!
For me experience is key, and Obama just doesnt come close to having the amount of experience Hillary has. And I am not entirely convinced of his “Time for Change” slogan.
As for the Republicans, I always liked McCain. The only thing I dislike about him is the fact that he supports all the decisions Bush has made pertaining to the war.
I’m glad Huckabee is losing fire, cause his views on certain issues I dont agree with:
He is against gun control, For the death penalty, pro-life, and his comment that gays should be locked up and hidden away from the public is outrageous. If he was to become president, I predict a presidency 2x worst than Bush’s presidency.

I agree. Clinton will either be called cold hearted or an overemotional. This is the crap that women still get. Guys get call firm instead of cold hearted or stern and in touch with their feelings instead of over emotional. She can’t win.

If you would like to learn more about OBAMA’s experience in politics, government, and business you should read his autobiography as well as AUDACITY OF HOPE. Obama really needs the support of all of us to win this thing.
A lot of people are huge fans of the Clinton campaign and Bill. Don’t get me wrong, Bill is cool. However especially for those of us under 30, we were children for most of Clinton’s reign. True, nothing bad was going on. Desert Storm was over. 911 hadn’t happened yet. The question is how much positive change went on that was the direct result of execute decision or influence as opposed to the natural political flow in a post-war era.
The question to ask is what do we need from our new president and among those needs, which are tangible within a 4 year reign? Who is the right person for that?
For me, it’s Barack all the way. It is time for a change. No need to revisit what was.

Barack Osama is nothing but the great divide when he claims to be the opposite….he creates a larger possiblity of another 4 years of a republican in the commander chief position…..HILLARY CLINTON 100%

Enough of the same Bush/Clinton people dominating the country for the past 25 years
4 years of Bush, then 8 years of Clintons, then 8 years of Bush, and now 8 years of Clinton ???
Hillary hasn’t the experience she claims, she just based all her experience on Bill’s records…
and I hate how she plays the gender card everytime she is in trouble…

I don’t like the dirty politics the Clintons are waging. I wanted to smack Bill for saying Barack is living a faerietale for promising to end the Iraq occupancy - I refuse to call in a ‘war’. It’s a slaughter of a lot of innocent people for the gain of the elite - the same elite that’s been financing Hillary’s campaign. I really wanted to support her but seriously - if she hadn’t been a First Lady and share advisors and funding of her husband - would she even have a viable campaign? What does she stand for? She voted to go to war, she takes money from lobbyists and is mounting a smear campaign against Obama. It’s the Clintons’ sense of entitlement that really irritates me. It’s white privilege all over again.

i’ve been kind up in the air lately as to whether my vote will be one for Clinton or Obama, but the more i see of the two of them, the more i realize that i don’t really care. I mean i care about their positions on issues, and their thoughts on health care reform and the current state of the education system. It’s like choosing between a rock and a hard place, the exception would be the fact that right, between those two is the safest place to be. I think alot of folks are torn in this same way as their so ready for a Democrat to be in office that they really don’t care who it is, and i think tonight that was demonstrated as they saw a shift in the projections as many of the folks who were anticipated to vote Obama, in fact went Cllinton. Some are blaming it on her “emotional breakdown” (which i think was staged), others on the discrepancies of Obama’s record, but regardless of why their votes changed, they did, and with great ease. That should say something in regards the fact that America doesn’t view going with one or the other as a win or a loss because at this point we can only expect to gain from either candidates. I do feel one thing is for sure, John Edwards i hope will make one hell of a Vice president, and right now its seems that if Barack takes the win, that’s exactly who he gonna run with.

Wow @ AJBOOGIE. Y do i feel as if you’re trying” to associate Barack Obama, whom you’ve so wrongly titled “Barack Osama”with Islam and the terrorists it seems to be producing? Please tell me u dont actually fall for that redneck belief about Barack being a muslim and a terrorist.
Funny thing is, wouldnt it be ironic to have a president who has Hussein in his name? Espeically when we had Saddam in captivity and he ended up getting hanged. Yea.
Anyway, I like Hillary. And i like Obama. Great guy. Honest guy. But for various reasons I don’t think he’s strong enough to clean up this huge craptastic mess that Prez. Bush has thrown us in. And I dont want Americans to hate Obama for not being able to clean up that mess.
However, I believe Hillary Clinton is indeed the only candidate strong enough to counter Bush’s huge mistakes for the past 8 years.
Im aware of the so called Bush and Clinton dynasties, but does it really matter? Shes really is the right person for the job. She has to be this “polarizing figure” that people keep subjecting her to be b/c she’s running in a race among men. She can’t be seen as emotional b/c people will call it as a sign of weakness.
As a woman Hillary is amazing. Look at all her accomplishments, look at the ideas she supports. Sure the whole teary-eyed scene could be viewed as trickery to steal votes, but it was needed and was the first time she’s ever shown real emotion, no matter how bad her acting might seem. She’s the only woman i know in this age who is vigorously capable of carrying the title of president of the United states.
Okay, so she supports lobbyist. But she’s also very concerned with where America really starts: our homes. Families, children, EDUCATION. Come on people, this is our future we’re talking about! Do we really want a bunch of dumb#@@#&, running this country 10 years down the line? Let’s focus on what’s going on over here instead of bothering other countries that DONT EVEN LIKE US. Hillary is not an advocate for Big Business. She’s more about bridging the ever-dividing gap b/w the middle class and the privileged class.
Ive said it b4 and i’ll say it again, If Hillary wins the Dems nomination she will need Barack Obama as her running mate if she plans on winning the presidential election. Its the only way for her. And that’s only because people wont vote for her, thinking her balls are too big. Either way, im voting for whomever wins the democratic nomination b/c I like them both.
Oh, and Bill was right about Obama and his “fairy tale.” The guy is brilliant but let’s be real, no one can really end the Iraq war. Once we’re over there, we’re over there. Our troops will have to remain in Iraq for a very long time in order to establish peace. Physical combat may end, but our troops aren’t going anywhere. However, a withdrawal of a majority of our troops is needed. Sure we cant force democracy on other countries b/c our kind of democracy just doesnt suit everyone else, as so many Americans foolishly believe. Its a totally different world over there and change has to be done right, but those changes must pertain to the customs of those people.
Hey, i don’t like it anymore than you do, but its the truth. Oh yea, and EDWARDS is a joke. This is the same guy that spent $400 of campaign donation money on a PERSONAL HAIR CUT. Yea, he really cares about the middle classs….

It’s no wonder we aint where we need to be… Cause we dont SUPPORT OUR OWN…

Why don’t we do the same? Instead we either don’t vote (then complain) or vote for the same shit we’ve had for X amount of years (then still complain).

I disagree with all the supporters of Hillary saying no one can really end the war. She was just on a debate over the weekend saying once she is in office she will start the withdrawal of troops with in 60 days. That’s realistic….not. Plus she doesn’t support universal healthcare because her big backers are the big pharmaceutical companies. I see it like this things can’t possibly get any worse. George W. has sent this country to hell in a hand basket. I vote for change.

I am still undecided. I’m usually a very black or white person, but I have some qualms about both Clinton and Obama. Edwards I just really don’t see democrats voting for him as a whole. I want a candidate I believe in, and who shares the same views as I on a few key issues, and Obama and I are not seeing eye to eye on the military, and I have a family full of veterans, and officers, and enlisted servicemen, I vote with them in mind.

I cannot believe you people are being snowed by Hilary Clinton, experience what experience are you people talking about? She has only been in the Senate for two terms since I believe 2002. Okay before that she was the first lady so what experience are you people talking about, she and Bill could not get a reform health care pass when he was president. Then there is that Watergate scandal (before he was elected) did you people forget that. She is a true politican, shows emotion on key, acts like she is riding the wave of a new America because that is what she wants you to believe. I plan to vote Republican if she gets the Democrat nod. Yeah I said it and I stand by that too.
And yeah lets not forget when Billy was in office the following facts for BLACK AMERICA,
Clinton selected less black americans to head cabinet seats then during Bush -check the stats
Three strikes and you’re out was signed by Clinton (any of you have family members in jail for life?)
Don’t ask, don’t Tell that was his brillant plan
Rwanda was under Clinton’s watch–you may have seen the movie Hotel in Rwanda–if not rent it, for those who do not read this nation (U.S.) knew hundreds of thousands of Africans were being slaughtered and did nothing. That was your dear Clinton– while he is over in Kosovo– European nation–this issue of mass genocide was not as great.
And no Hilary is not Bill but what do you think he is going to do, play first husband and not be apart of the political game. Just like he selected her to push the health care bill, she will have him doing something other then hosting international leaders at dinner. Please, check reliable new reports after Iowa he came running to his wife side to target Obama. Political scheming in deed.
And all that experience she is talking about, bills do not get pass by the work of one person. Congress must work in unison. She may have worked on some bills but she did not single handedly move anything for the last 6 years in Congress best believe. Never mind that check the Congressional record.
I am mad that many of the us are so afraid to think outside the box. I am ready for a female president just not her. I want there to be a totally new president not the old guard returning. Obama is about honesty, truth and change. He is more then an eloquent speaker his is a man that believes America can do better and will do better with him as our leader.
Last time I checked George Bush had experience too being a governor for 8 years before running for president and we all see where that got us.
People look beyond her words (sound bites do not mean anything, G.W. had many sound bites too) and look at the issues.
I think if you did that you would see that Obama has a plan for America that will be best for those who want to see this nation back on top, anyone check the stats on the US dollar lately? Look at the economy…while fat cats continue to get fat the working middle class (yes I am apart of that class that pays for everyone else) and the poor continue to suffer.
I prayer you all start to research these candidates and stop letting the pundits and sound bites fool you.
Obama 08 or we get another four years of B.S.
The one has spoken, SHUT THE DAMN DOOR AND REGISTER TO VOTE, I’M OUT!

Big Girls Don’t Cry–But if you can burst into tears when you’re asked how you get up each morning and do your hair and makeup and the response is to tear up and quiver your lips. This is Billary’s response under fire: tears, lies about your opponents’ backgrounds. Not only is Billary unprincipled, they’ll take money from the Devil himself.
The only real change agent is Obama. He is obviously bi-racial, very well educated and ready to asume the job of the president. Do not trust or support anyone who would throw thousands of family off welfare, vote for an unnecessary war, and lie incessantly about how they get they get their money. Bill was not the 1st black president; but Barack could be. Let’s make it happen: President Obama in November.

I really want to know what all the experience is Hillary has? She is a 2nd term Senator, just as Obama. Why does she continue to link her marriage to Bill as being political experience? I don’t understand it.
If anything…Obama has more experience than Hillary because before he went into the US Senate, he was in the Ilinois State legislature.
They said Bill wasn’t experienced enough when he decided to run for President and he went on to serve 2 terms…same for JFK he had minimal experience prior to his tenure.
I’m still behind Obama 1000%. I’m riding with him until the end!

You don’t like Mike Huckabee because he is pro-death penalty. Well so are the CLintons. In fact, Bill Clinton went to Arkansas while he was president just to see a retarded BLACK man executed. And on top of that, Bill Clinton has a thing for putting Black men in jail. Do you know that the Three Strikes law was during the CLinton years that Hillary is claiming as her experience that skyrocketed the Black prision population to TWO MILLION. What about all the racial profiling under Bill Clinton that he did nothing about? I was only in like the 4th grade when the Rodney King riots broke out, and I never remember Bill CLinton getting into office that same year vowing to do anything about the repaeted acts of violence. Black people kill me!. What do you even know about Hillary Clinton? Don’t be bandwagon. Sjhe is no Maxine Waters poeple. And she has no experience. He’s the best candidate. Hands down. I like his access to healthcare plan. I like the fact that he has DONE something about racial profiling. I like the fact that he helped put a hold on the death penalties in the state of Illinois due to the failure rate proved by the Innocence project. I like the fact that he is defending Roe. I like the fact that he always brings up how he wants to improve our educational system. I also like that he was a grassroots community organizer. I like the guy personally and politically. And I think he has something that alot of candidates don’t have. And that is, the ability to inspire.
Hillary doesn’t inspire me, she makes me feel conned.
John Edwards makes me feel like he may be alright, he just hasn’t been in politics in a while.
And Bill Richardson, he’s not forceful enough, but I like the guy.
And all the Republicans, well, they are Republicans.

YOU SAY YOU WANT “EXPERIENCE” BUT YOU ALSO WANT “CHANGE”???
Correct me if I am wrong, but if we want TRUE change instead of politics as usual (i.e. Emotional stunts to swing votes) than why are we looking so heavily into experience? Obama has experience promoting change and fighting for people. Hillary has traditional ‘politics as usual’ experience. What change are you really looking for? Obama is the true change agent if you ask me.
I would like to not be embarassed by my President this term!!!!! Ok, the entire process that the candidates are going through MUST be tough…but the whole crying act was a bit much for me. I have never been against Hillary, and I still am not, I’ve just always been MORE in support of Obama, however, when she cried I felt that same feeling of embarassment I feel every time Bush makes a speech. I will NOT go through that again. Can we please have a solid President? I mean…she’s only running right now - and shes crying because “It’s tough”? I understand she’s passionate, and I truly appreciate that, we do need that - but lets hold it together, please. We fight WARS and things of that nature. Will she cry then too?
I understand shes human, and there is nothing wrong with emotion, but there is a time and a place for everything. Apparently for some, that time and place was right on target because she was still able to come up with a NH win. Congratulations Hill.
With Love,

I somewhat agree with the statement made @17 that we as black people do not support one another, how else could the 900 billion dollars that we earned last year go back into the very hands that oppress us.There was a black woman in 1972 named Shirley Chisholm who ran for president and she was viewed as a joke,by her own people. The same held true for Jesse Jackson in 1984,as was the case in 2004 when Al Sharpton and Alan Keys ran. Here we are in 2008 and we still have the mentality of a conquered people…why are we so afraid to unite with one another? This is the FIRST time a black person is running for the highest office on planet earth that won’t be viewed as just some sort of symbolic gesture, and we have our own people saying Brotha O is only half white, well guess what, unless you are fresh off a 14 hour plane ride from the MOTHERLAND yo ass is half white too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And for all the beautiful black women who say that they want to see a woman hold it down@1600 Pennsylvania I do too.Vote Maxine Waters in 2012,but for let’s get with the program and Vote for Brotha O in 2008.

Clinton machine at work. Way the change New Hampshire? Don’t let the white man hoodwink you. Vote Obama!
“More importantly, if New Hampshire had rotated name order in the voting booth as it has always done in the past, the race would probably have been too close to call without a recount and might even have been an Obama victory.”

Experience is only good when you have skills that have been proven to work. Clinton has road on every bandwagon but her own, she switch viewspoints like seasons. I do not plan to vote for anyone who family member or spouse has been in the executive seat within the last decade. Bill Clinton turned his back on Rwanda when the genocide was going on, so don’t be too quick to think that they have the interest of African Americans and blacks at heart. Voting for Hillary is only another vote for Bill. I think as nation we have learned our lesson with the Bush family being in office twice. We need change! Bush had experience and look where it got us! New Leadership and new ideas is something that needs to be pumped in this country. We still operate on a back-woods! mentality.

I think Obama better get ready b/c the Clinton machine is about to go into full effect. He’s going to have to state his positions more clearly and succinctly and move past the emotional.
Everyone wants change…but how are we going to get it?

@9,10,11 and 20
We are liked minded individuals, hence, I have been on at least two other popular black blog sites, and I have said this until I am blue in the face. Hillary is no Bill, and I am ashamed that Bill Clinton has been pulling dirty tricks. When are black people going to understand that people like the Clinton’s have been taking advantage of the black vote for too long. I don’t think people understand that Hillary Clinton hails from a Republican family and Bill Clinton is not a mainstream Liberal, never was, I mean times were better for blacks when he was in office, but then so then it was when the Kennedy’s were in office too!
Or remember when Hillary went to the Abbsyssian Baptist Church in Harlem back in 2006, and talked to a group of black church goers in a fake souther accent and said they were running the house and senate “like a slave plantation”, “yall know what I mean”(USA TODAY)–NO MRS.CLINTON…WE DON’T AND NOR WILL YOU NEVER UNDERSTAND….Take it for granted that her husband knows his culture amongst the black people in Harlem (where Bill’s H.Q. office is), he would had never stooped this low to make such a comment.
Bill Clinton is a moderate. He signed the three strikes your out law, which has been responsible for jailing more black men and people of color since the Regan Administration…NAFTA (all the middle and working class jobs have gone to Asia and aboard) and the then unequal handedness in the attack on welfare reform as well!
Hillary tried this damned weak ass crying game, which made me sick as a woman…I lived in Europe and around the world…and Margret Thatcher (British Primister in the 80′) would had never shown such cowardness, nor would the chancellor of Germany, who is a woman as well! She cryed to get her way at the poles yesterday as well…because the Obama was kickin her tired azz!
Read the New York Times article on her so called “experience while in the White House”. It clearly states her experience to Obamas is at an equal “zero”.
http://www.nytimes.com/20...s/politics/26clinton.html
She may have been wearing the skirt, pants and apron (and Bill’s azz for messin with Monica), but she clearly had little or no influence on domestic and especailly foreign affairs. The interviewed all of Clinton Foreign Affairs cabinet members from his Presidency, and all of them support Obama!
Please people…we are tired of the Bush’s and the Clintons…..We see this, white people especially see this, and this is why people are supporting Obama…because it is time for “CHANGE”.
It is clearly an added blessing, that the next President of the United States could be Black, that our blessing….the curse is if we don’t support a man of greatness and change that this country so badly needs, moreover, someone who can start united this country and moving us past bigotry, hatred and the deep seeded racism that exist historically in this country…OBAMA CAN UNITED US…YOUR NON-SUPPORT WOULD CONTINUE TO DIVIDE US!
No…I am not a paid spoke person…just a disabled veteran from the Gulf War, single mother who is tired…and I served my country…it is time that my country and others serve by voting for the right person to unite us…and bring my brothers and sisters who are fighting in the Middle East home!!!
Peace and Blessings….DO YOUR RESEARCH…FIND THE TRUTH FOR YOURSELVES!

- Forget Obama and Hillary; Obama is no different from the rest of the candidates because he’s funded and was pushed to run for president by the same people who funded Hillary, etc.
Ron Paul is the only candidate who was begged by his own supporters to run
Now because of the War on Drugs black people who make up 13% of the drug-using population end up being 64% of those put in jail for it. The only person even addressing this is Ron Paul while puppet Obama wants to increase the War on Drugs …hmmm??!!! And I’m supposed to vote for him?
He’s for globalization which means outsourcing which means more unemployment in America and I’m supposed to vote for him?
He wants to stay at war and I’m supposed to vote for him?
Please, I knew black people would fall for it; Obama is like all the rest: wolf in sheep’s clothing

honestly ALL politicians are con artists and i don’t think obama is any different. both him and hilary are going to face a hard battle if they win the presidential election and i don’t think their promises are enough. promises and action are 2 different things. as much as obama PROMISES change and hope, that doesn’t mean he’s going to do it. and ppl are bringing up the issue of clinton and the rwandan genocide. ppl act like bill could just go over there and mediate things. umm no world politics are messy. how do we know how clinton felt about the genocide? how do you know that his advisers aren’t the ones who made him take no action? besides america in general doesn’t care about other countries regardless of the race of the people or the ethnicity of the people, unless of course helping them would benefit us. i love this country but on the whole we’re pretty screwed up so i’m not going to blame clinton for not stepping in to end a genocide that even obama wouldn’t have ended if he was president. politicians are con artists get over it and just stick with the issues. i’m voting obama but that doesn’t mean i trust him more than hilary, that just means that his lies attract me more. i don’t really have much faith in presidents

Before you sell your soul to the devil … look what Hilary said about MLK
http://www.politico.com/n...ws/stories/0108/7788.html
You’re voting for them and they’re shitting on you.
“A senior Obama staffer just told me the Barack Obama campaign is livid over Hillary Clinton’s recent comment about Martin Luther King Jr. and what was apparently her attempt to point out the difference between dreaming and accomplishment.
“Dr. King’s dream began to be realized when President Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act,” Clinton said in the TV interview Monday.
“It took a president to get it done.”
Some in the Obama campaign are now outraged at what they take to be a denigration of King’s accomplishments and the sacrifices made during his era.
“Go ask black people what they think of that statement,” the Obama staffer told me.
“People died for the civil rights movement in this country. People marched and put their kids in front of fire hoses! They were bitten by dogs! This is the worst thing she has said in this entire campaign.”

The only reason Hilary won NH is because she cried! Since females outnumber males there, they probably felt bad for her ass! I’m sorry but last thing we need is a president to cry over some bull ish! If she’s not emotionally stable to handle the election than how is she going to hang in the White House? First she wants to disgrace Obama’s character and once she notices that the polls are starting to favor him , then…she cries…WTF?!?! Hillary Clinton did not lose because of the tears … exit polling shows that of the people who made up their minds in the last 3 days … they split for Obama and Hillary evenly … 38% each. If the tears had any effect … they would have shown up by having a bigger number go for Hillary in this particular category.
A more logical reason for Obama’s loss is the “Bradley Effect” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_effect
Where white folks TELL the pollsters that they’ll vote for a black candidate and then go into a closed booth and do different. Didn’t count in Iowa because, the caucus was open voting … everyone could see your vote … psychologically this makes you stay true to whatever you said earlier.

even MSNBC acknowledges it
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/
One other question, as the Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson raised on MSNBC last night: When you lose a lead like that, does anyone else think of what happened to Tom Bradley in California?
Did race play a role in a double-digit or high single-digit lead evaporating over night?
In fact, we can only think of three races in which the public polls and the final result were SO off, and they ALL involved African-American candidates:
Bradley’s ‘82 gubernatorial campaign in California,
Doug Wilder’s surprisingly narrow ‘89 victory for Virginia governor,
and Harvey Gantt’s surprise loss for North Carolina Senate.
There is no poll question we can find that can truly measure this phenomenon. But African-Americans are thinking this, and the difference between Iowa and New Hampshire is a voting curtain: Democrats didn’t have one in Iowa; they had one in New Hampshire

after whut i have witnessed, and between the blantant bradley effect & the the dirty politics that the clintons are pulling. whutever respect i had for the clintons is completely lost now!
lemme ask some of y’all hillary supporters this question. WHUT “EXPERIENCE” DOES HILLARY HAVE? WHUT EXPERIENCE OF 35 YEARS IS SHE CLAIMING?
is she talking about she “assisted” with her husband while he was president? is that called “experience” now? and if it is, whut exactly have she done? she proposed a failed health care system and the controversy and failure of whitewater..that’s the only two things that i KNOW of within her “experience”. yea, she may know alot of foreign officials than obama, but so do alot of mainstream & international media heads.
TECHNICALLY obama have more experience in political office, because he started his political journey as the senator of illinois in ‘97. hillary was only been a U.S. senator two years longer than OBAMA…so that’s the “more” experience she’s talking about?
WHERE IS THIS 35 YEARS EXPERIENCE SHE CLAIMS? i ask this because if she’s not just talking about her time in politics (which is only 6 years) and her time as 1st lady (which was 8-15 years ago) then where’s the REST of this “experience” to run this country? if she’s talking about whut she done for the community…obama got her TRUMPED by MILES..he started OFF as a grassroots activist and later became a civil rights lawyer. he actually WALKED thru the ghettos and urban streets. so whut have HILLARY DONE???
people need to do their OWN research and stop FEEDING INTO the bullshit. the reason why hillary won was that people FED into the bullshit. the alligator tears she produced, the attacked on MLK’s integrity, her husband calling obama’s campaign as a “fairytale”, and people being sympathetic to hillary due to the bradley effect of the polls!

Obama 2008.

I am behind OBAMA all the way. Not for one second did I ever think to vote for Clinton. She kept on acting like a big baby and disrepecting Obama when he won in Iowa, and then to top it off her husband gets up there and calls Obama a kid. Why would you want to support people like that.. If you are black and have sense you will vote for a Black man over a White woman who is white first and then a woman. She won last night because she was white, not because she was the better candidate. Black America is once again being brain washed to believe and divide black women into voting for Clinton… I am hopeful Black America wakes up and makes the right vote.

I think just as people hate to be told who to vote for have the same anger that I feel as a Black woman - everyone assumes I am volunteering for Obama b/c he is Black(and half white, which no one seems to want to mention). I guess if Alan Keys were running I would need to vote for him to validate this theory that Black people only vote based on race. Just b/c I am voting for Obama does not mean that I am caught up in a “fairytale” or that he is raising my “false hopes”! I like the man and I like what he stands for - if you wanna know what he stand for go to
http://www.barackobama.com
I went to most of the candidates websites before I decided to donate money or volunteer in any campaign. Considering that most of his views and Hillary’s are EXCATLY the same - that was not the issue - it came down to who I thought could get things done with the country still so divided…I went with Obama. But don’t be mad at me b/c he happens to be Black - if you don’t support him that’s fine but don’t charaterize me as a sentimental fool b/c I do.

#46…maybe they do, maybe they don’t. Who knows…who cares. The fact that record numbers of African Americans are rallying behind an African American Presidential hopeful is beyond promising. It’s about time we stick together. Who cares if they are only voting for Obama because he is black…in every Presidential Election I’ve voted in, I voted for a white person. Now…I prayerfully I will get the opportunity to vote for my own. Am I voting for him because he’s black, yes, but I’m also voting for him because I believe in his platform. Ideally I would like Obama and Hilary to team up (Pres and VP) but I doubt that will happen.
I am a black woman, I would like to have a black president and I would also like to have a woman president…black first, woman second. To all of the African Americans voting for HC b/c she’s a Clinton and Bill did a great job for us, please think again.

I am baffled as to why people are using the Three Strikes law against Hillary as if it strictly targets black people. The law only throws the book at offenders with serious offenses, not misdemeanors. Granted there are some states that have blurred lines as to what’s considered a felony (like petty theft) but we cannot blame the Clintons for this…blame ourselves for not being vocal or participating in your local state elections and not being aware of how the state will implement the laws given to them. My whole spin on the Clinton/Obama is this…
we need someone in the White House with a clean slate…and I just don’t think that Hilary is that person. She is supported by the people who deny most of us basic healthcare coverage…and she doesn’t have nearly as much experience as she says. She has been in the NY senate for only 2 terms and thats what makes her qualified? I mean ask the people of NY (me being one of them) what has she done as a Senator and I wouldn’t be able to tell you.
I mean Hilary is a relief from Bush and she’s likable enough…but I mean lets be honest…we need someone who can move the country…and I just don’t see her doing that…most people are also only throwing support behind her because of Bill and as charismatic as he is…thats not enough…
I support Barack Obama not because he is a black man…but because he is a person that instills a fresh hope in the country… and thats something we need right now…we need someone to move us to get proactive in whats happening in our country and I don’t see that hope with Hilary Clinton…and I mean what is this EXPERIENCE that everyone keeps talking about? I mean a single mother who has to balance her finances every day, keep track of her 2 children and their daily issues, and get up and deal with the relationships at her job is qualified. We need to wake up and realize that this so called experience that everyone keeps trying to shove down our throats is just a way to stop us from doing what we not only know is right….I mean all of the so called experience that Bush had didn’t make him qualified to do the job and look where he has gotten us…

Lots of people are saying that Hillary agreed with Bush on the war, but look at the facts, Obama claimed to be against the war but later on voted yes on the patriot act, voted to spend 300 million dollars in support of the war.
And all the people asking what experience does Hillary have, just do your research, no her experience does not include being the first lady, if you would research you would know that she does in fact have the experience. She is the most electable candidate right now, if she gets the democratic nomination, then there will be a much better chance of having a democrat in office, than there will be if Obama gets the nomination.

#11 you’ve completely noted my feelings about the Clintons. Initially, I was on the fence but the more I see the Clintons under-handed campaign tactics, the smear against Obama (while trying to keep their hands clean) and their disgusting sense of entitlement I’m completely turned -off.
If Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination for President I will vote Republican this year (hopefully John McCain).
I can’t stand that this woman is being so manipulative and of course outwardly courting the women’s vote. Hillary Clinton was crying not b/c she was tired or showing her human side it’s b/c she couldn’t believe in a state made up of 95% whites (Iowa) a Black Man was able to beat her. DISGUSTING!!

Obama all the way, the truth is going to finally come out about Hillary. Neither her nor Bill really give/gave a crap about Blacks. If you read books and articles published by former staffers they give the goods on the Clintons from the time they were in Arkanasas until now. The only difference between them and most of the Rep. is I know the Republicans don’t care about the issues that concern me.
Hillary has no experience except that of what her husband has, they are employing dirty tactics and with the recent statement about MLK….come on. It’s a no Brainer to me. She totally lost my respect when she cried about over the hair statement. Everything with this woman is calculated if you look hard and pay attention the real Hillary will peek through. Case in point her MLK comment, with out “the dream” there wouldn’t have been anything for the President to do., h@ll it wasn’t his dream.

1. Cosign with everyone saying that voting for Obama simply and solely based on color is stupid. So you call people “coons” and “idiots” for having their own opinions, like Shonni said, at the end of the day it’s their voice, so get over it.
2. I’m not surprised Hillary won, like I said in the Iowa topic she’s on the war path now, and she’s still a formidable force, I can admit that even though I’m not voting for her.
3. Congrats for McCain, even though he won on likeability. He’s going to have to come harder in South Carolina, especially on the immigration issues.

I just don’t understand how we as people can’t understand what is going on in this world.
We are at War, We are in a recession, we are failing in our efforts to build the relationships with other countries.
I would really like to see and Obama and Gore ticket, but we all know that it just may end up a Clinton, Gore ticket.
I really don’t want us to go backwards either but I don’t think that Hillary is going to take us to the next Level. I’m not sure who wants the Presidency more Hillary or her Husband. He has already shown that he is the one who will try to lead this country again not her, it would be a difference if he was just trying to support his wife but I believe it’s more than that. Who is going to take on the big issue is it going be her or her husband those are the question I have. I do try to follow the Politics everyday because I think that too many things are going unnoticed. How can an oil company brag about how they have made billions of dollars this year when so many upper and lower class workers are struggling. I look at how our President now gets on TV with the other leaders who states clearly that they will not support us in this fight with Afghanistan but they stand by us what kind of double talk is that? We all need to really come together as people before it’s to late.

I’m for Hillary! Our economy needs help and unfortunately, her husband knows exactly how to do it. It took him 8 years, but my family had jobs & money, gas prices weren’t through the roof and we could actually see progress in this country. I like Obama, but he’s like the rest - all talk until we SEE action. With Clinton, we felt the benefits of his presidency. I know, she’s no Bill, but she has a direct line of communication to his skills & experience at her fingertip. What exactly does Obama have? We’ll have to wait and see.
Another note, I’m personally wondering if the media is attacking Hillary so bad, that the republicans actually hope Obama wins the candicacy - so they can really lynch him. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s good and all, but the republicans will want to rip him a new asshole - something they will have trouble doing with Hillary. Now, we have Obama against Hillary - just wait until there’s Hucklabee/McCain/Romney against Obama or against Hillary. I know she teared up for some sympathy cause they were all beating up on her, but she’s no slouch - She knows how to beat um. I’m a little like #22, this smells too much like a set-up.
I like Obama - just not so quick to jump on his bandwagon cause he’s black.
We need a president who can get the job that we need done. We need to feel safe and we need jobs, medical benefits, better schools, etc.. I wish Hillary the best but if Obama does beat her out - he’ll get my vote.

I think all the democrats should come together and vote for a candidate even republicans can vote for. I know for a fact that if Hilary becomes the majority leader in the democratic party then there will be another republican president in office in 2008. I dont know if yall remember but they almost impeached Bill and I dont think the majority of Americans like the Clintons so Obama all the way is my vote. I think he has a chance. New Hampshire was just a set back. I think he could make it.

People need to realize that Bill Clinton’s stregnths aren’t necessarily his wife’s stregnths. I mean our economy may have thrived under him…but what does that have to do with Hillary? It seems like people are voting for her not because they agree with her politics but purely because of who her husband is and what he has done…they are not one and the same and there is no guarantee that under Hillary that there is going to be a change just because she is married to Bill…let’s really think about that…

People stop getting Hilary confused with her husband. She does not have a ton of experience and everything that she has been involved in has failed. Or has gotten a federal investigation. We are so willing to give her our support but do your homework on her. She is not what she is cracked up to be.
Aren’t we tired of all of these white politicians and old civil rights leader stomping up in our churches and begging for our votes and delivering nothing in return.
Do you know how extremely intelligent Barak Obama is to be in this country running for president as a black man and succeding. Hiliary Clinton did what most white people do in this country they under estimated this black man or did not even consider him a factor. He atleast deserves for us to take a look at him and listen to him before we just say we are not going to support him.
I don’t ever remember another candidate who had to fight so hard for the black vote like Mr. Obama does. This is really sad. It is okay to support each other for positive things. We don’t just have to support each other when there is jail or a lynching involved. It is okay to support this man.

She’s never gonna win
If a black man with little experience named Barack Hussein Obama can challenge her so bad, how is she going to win against McCain ????
Republicans hate her as HELL, probably more than Obama
She will galvanize the entire republican camp like never before… She represents the past, and Republicans will destroy her… And this time the victim/gender/emotional card won’t work
Some black folks are so ignorant thinking she’s gonna win
She’s a clown, the only reason why she made a career in politics is because of Bill
Obama made everything on his own, with little experience, black face and a muslim name, he has been able to upset the BIGGEST POLITICAL MACHINE OF THE COUNTRY, THE CLINTON MACHINE
Hillary without Bill she ain’t shit , she would never be where she is
The loyalty of black people for the Clintons is shameful… The Clintons have done nothing beside “being comfortable with us”

Im so happy for Hillary! She worked extremely hard and completely deserved to win the New Hampshire primary.
She’s clearly the most qualified candidate of either the Democratic or Republican party to reign in the White House.
I also support Obama as well, but im completely behind Clinton. I honestly dont feel Obama is ready to be the President of the United States. Yes hes handsome and charismatic, but those arent qualities that are going to “CHANGE” the economy and end the war Iraq.
I’m glad voters finally voted on the real issues, rather than likability.

I agree 100% sir. Black people are calling other black people “house negroes” if they don’t vote for the mixed African man that the white man has put up for them to vote for, lol. It’s inconceivable to black people that a so-called black man like Obama wouldn’t be “down for the cause”, whatever black people think the cause is, because he’s “black”. The only reason why he is a viable candidate is because he’s black without reminding white people that he’s black. This whole “vote Obama because he’s black”spiel is extremely simple-minded and short-sighted. America is on an irrevocable course to destruction and any presidents after Bush will only preside over an increasingly paranoid, militaristic, fascist state. It’s going to be the biggest hot potato, blame game anyone has ever seen once the next president enters the White House and continues the agenda and doctrines of the people that dictated to Bush. Either the incoming president will be viewed as “weak” when the “terrorists” ratchet up the threats and provocation or a warmonger as he/she continues to obliterate each neighboring Islamic country for the sake of “democracy”. I guess it depends on what you want at the end of the day. Most black people deal with appearances so, to them, being captain of a sinking ship is a privilege as long as you have the title of captain, lol. I’ve stated numerous times before, that just because a person is “negroid” in appearance doesn’t make him/her one of our people. Black people are the simplest people on the planet earth and that is why they’re always being taken advantage of. It’s like the kid in elementary school that you knew would look down whenever you told them their shoe was untied. It’s sad. Hillary will be the next president of the United States unless she pisses off the people that will put her in. She has been anointed for a while and Obama is her foil. We’ll see.

It sickens me that black people are attacking other black people just b/c they’re tilting towards Hillary Clinton.
SO FUCKIN WHAT? It doesnt mean we’re brainwashed, whitewashed, or whatever. A woman like her running for the presidency HAS to be a strong non-emotional candidate b/. Who cares if she cRIED? U act as if she does it all the time. I knew that as soon as she shed tears people would call her fake and weak. And i was right. And then people claim she’ll cry to get whatever she wants, even as president. Sorry, but that is The STUPIDEST thing ive ever heard.
Do u really think her crying was actually the reason she won NH? Get real. It was more than likely the Bradley effect.
Hillary does have experience, even if its through her husband Bill. Even as First Lady she was given other roles to play. She’s made worldwide connections. She knows her stuff and she’s not going to bring this country down any worse than Bush has.
Do u really think Hillary Clinton is going to ruin our nation? People act as if she’s the fuckin’ anti-Christ. Do u really think she’s worse than Bush? And she is definitely an advocate for universal health care. It can work if its done right. I understand she is backed by Pharmaceutical companies but it doesnt make her their puppet. She’s a smart woman. Yet people dont like her and see her as too divisive.
I think Obama is a good person. Beautiful and smart wife. He would indeed make a good president. But i keep getting this feeling that he is being set up. Did u know tha some Republicans voted for the guy? They could slyly be trying to help him get the Democratic nomination with the agenda of breaking him with the Republican machine, a machine that Hillary definitely knows how to beat.
Im voting for whoever wins the Democratic Nomination, unless its Edwards which will not happen. Edwards should not be on any ticket.
And i agree with someone said up there, if u compare the two, Hillary and Obama are actually the SAME on many issues. So by working together as P and VP, things would probably run smoothly.

Judah. Stop it!!!!!!!!!!!
How do you call people who have made some of the greatest contributions to humanity…”Simple? What do you have against yourself, that you would think so lowly or yourself! I have more respect for the elementary kid who looked down to see if his shoes were untied, than I do for the kid who lied and said they were untied!!
I don’t know if he’s “down for the cause”, but I know he’s down for his beautiful black wife and children. Is he gonna make life more difficult for them? His light skin might not remind America of his blackness, but his wife and kids sure do!
Now, I agree that the White House will be a mess when Bush leaves, so why not let Obama try to clean it up? I don’t think Obama is running as “one of our people.” His message includes everyone! Black people didn’t give him the victory in Iowa or the silver medal in NH.
Judah said:”…vote for the mixed African man that the white man has put up for them to vote for” LMAO! You are so paranoid! Do you really think that this is a $45M National Conspiracy? Who’s behind it…Bush? FBI? Bill Gates? Who? You spread confussion like a gangster rapper in a small building! Just a lot of loud yelling!
And, as much as you try to espouse God, you should know that He is the Captian of the ship! It won’t sink unless He decides to sink it! It don’t matter who gets the “privilege” of being called President! Try thinking from the stand point of the Kingdom and God’s purpose! His Glory is bigger than your bitter discourse! The gates of hell will no more prevail against America than your garbage will against CL readers! hehe…now that was poetic!
You need to take a few steps back, let go and let God!

I am voting straight Democrat. There is obvious concern about Hillary experience vs Obama’s experience. Well Bill led the country for 8 years. And I must say he did a fine job. The economy was great. The housing market was thriving. Health care guidelines were better accessible for the lower middle class and poor. Bill consulted with his wife on everything. If she is elected, it will be Bill again. She is going to bring the old heads from the Clinton Administration. By all means I like Obama. However, I am more comfortable with Hillary leading the country with Bill by her side. I usually support every Black candidate even Jessie Jackson back in the day… but at this day and age with the war going on and folks that are in my circle had to close businesses because the economy is sooo bad…I got to vote with someone I can trust. For some strange reason he reminds me of Condolesca Rice(one of Bush advisor’s)…I just do not get swayed by Obama’s speeches to vote. I want someone that I can trust…

@Meat
You love America don’t you brother, lmao? Why is it that everytime I say something, some clown thinks that I’m trying to “convert” someone, lol? Is my opinion that powerful? Are you frustrated that I’m not under the same slave mentality, mind-control, entertainment-induced indoctrination as yourself? Get over it. Do you and I’ll do me and we’ll see who is correct in the end. Simple as that. You and I both know that you have no facts, knowledge, wisdom, or precedence to back up any of that schizophrenic, exclamation point filled nonsense. I never mentioned anything about white America accepting him because he’s light-skinned, so you exposed yourself when you said that. I don’t spread confusion, “Meat”, lol. I speak sober-minded words and if it’s confusing to you; it’s because your mind is trained to accept lies as truth, so when you hear real honesty and truth, it sounds strange and unreasonable. Truth divides people, it doesn’t bring them together (Luke 12:51). America is about hustling people. The drug dealers hustle dope and the polticians hustle hope. Perpetuating false hopes to the masses of disatisfied people that believe that they should be happy because there’s nothing better than America. This is why they need some silly slogan for their campaign because they must sell their hustle. You happen to buy into Obama’s hustle. I do not. To each his own. Christ and the apostles never said,”I’ma vote for Augustus Caesar and so should you.” (even though there was no vote back then).
Are you light-skinned brother? Are you insecure about your “blackness”? I know that simple black people base their blackness off of how light or dark they are because they don’t know any better but it’s 2008 and it’s getting old. It seems like you have a serious color complex. These are the type of issues that need to be addressed in the black community that Obama is not concerned with. You also should stop using so many exclamation points. It makes you look childish and effeminate. You’re exhibit A of how small-minded and simple many of our people are. Stop holding onto the Bible as an ornament and read it. It condemns the tenets of America from Genesis (The Tower of Babel, Sodom and Gomorrah, etc.), all the way to Revelation (Revelation 18th chapter). The scriptures tell us to hate this world; which is controlled by Satan, but you love it, so what does that make you (I John 2:15)? The scriptures also go into great detail on the fate of America so if you wish to fight against that, please go ahead and condemn yourself.

Judicial Watch Announces List of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2007
Washington, DC –Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released its 2007 list of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians.” The list, in alphabetical order, includes:
1. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY): In addition to her long and sordid ethics record, Senator Hillary Clinton took a lot of heat in 2007 – and rightly so – for blocking the release her official White House records. Many suspect these records contain a treasure trove of information related to her role in a number of serious Clinton-era scandals. Moreover, in March 2007, Judicial Watch filed an ethics complaint against Senator Clinton for filing false financial disclosure forms with the U.S. Senate (again). And Hillary’s top campaign contributor, Norman Hsu, was exposed as a felon and a fugitive from justice in 2007. Hsu pleaded guilt to one count of grand theft for defrauding investors as part of a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme.
2. Rep. John Conyers (D-MI): Conyers reportedly repeatedly violated the law and House ethics rules, forcing his staff to serve as his personal servants, babysitters, valets and campaign workers while on the government payroll. While the House Ethics Committee investigated these allegations in 2006, and substantiated a number of the accusations against Conyers, the committee blamed the staff and required additional administrative record-keeping and employee training. Judicial Watch obtained documentation in 2007 from a former Conyers staffer that sheds new light on the activities and conduct on the part of the Michigan congressman, which appear to be at a minimum inappropriate and likely unlawful. Judicial Watch called on the Attorney General in 2007 to investigate the matter.
3. Senator Larry Craig (R-ID): In one of the most shocking scandals of 2007, Senator Craig was caught by police attempting to solicit sex in a Minneapolis International Airport men’s bathroom during the summer. Senator Craig reportedly “sent signals” to a police officer in an adjacent stall that he wanted to engage in sexual activity. When the police officer showed Craig his police identification under the bathroom stall divider and pointed toward the exit, the senator reportedly exclaimed ‘No!’” When asked to produce identification, Craig presented police his U.S. Senate business card and said, “What do you think of that?” The power play didn’t work. Craig was arrested, charged and entered a guilty plea. Despite enormous pressure from his Republican colleagues to resign from the Senate, Craig refused.
4. Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA): As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee’s subcommittee on military construction, Feinstein reviewed military construction government contracts, some of which were ultimately awarded to URS Corporation and Perini, companies then owned by Feinstein’s husband, Richard Blum. While the Pentagon ultimately awards military contracts, there is a reason for the review process. The Senate’s subcommittee on Military Construction’s approval carries weight. Sen. Feinstein, therefore, likely had influence over the decision making process. Senator Feinstein also attempted to undermine ethics reform in 2007, arguing in favor of a perk that allows members of Congress to book multiple airline flights and then cancel them without financial penalty. Judicial Watch’s investigation into this matter is ongoing.
5. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY): Giuliani came under fire in late 2007 after it was discovered the former New York mayor’s office “billed obscure city agencies for tens of thousands of dollars in security expenses amassed during the time when he was beginning an extramarital relationship with future wife Judith Nathan in the Hamptons…” ABC News also reported that Giuliani provided Nathan with a police vehicle and a city driver at taxpayer expense. All of this news came on the heels of the federal indictment on corruption charges of Giuliani’s former Police Chief and business partner Bernard Kerik, who pleaded guilty in 2006 to accepting a $165,000 bribe in the form of renovations to his Bronx apartment from a construction company attempting to land city contracts.
6. Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR): Governor Huckabee enjoyed a meteoric rise in the polls in December 2007, which prompted a more thorough review of his ethics record. According to The Associated Press: “[Huckabee’s] career has also been colored by 14 ethics complaints and a volley of questions about his integrity, ranging from his management of campaign cash to his use of a nonprofit organization to subsidize his income to his destruction of state computer files on his way out of the governor’s office.” And what was Governor Huckabee’s response to these ethics allegations? Rather than cooperating with investigators, Huckabee sued the state ethics commission twice and attempted to shut the ethics process down.
7. I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby: Libby, former Chief of Staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was sentenced to 30 months in prison and fined $250,000 for lying and obstructing the Valerie Plame CIA leak investigation. Libby was found guilty of four felonies — two counts of perjury, one count of making false statements to the FBI and one count of obstructing justice – all serious crimes. Unfortunately, Libby was largely let off the hook. In an appalling lack of judgment, President Bush issued “Executive Clemency” to Libby and commuted the sentence.
8. Senator Barack Obama (D-IL): A “Dishonorable Mention” last year, Senator Obama moves onto the “ten most wanted” list in 2007. In 2006, it was discovered that Obama was involved in a suspicious real estate deal with an indicted political fundraiser, Antoin “Tony” Rezko. In 2007, more reports surfaced of deeper and suspicious business and political connections It was reported that just two months after he joined the Senate, Obama purchased $50,000 worth of stock in speculative companies whose major investors were his biggest campaign contributors. One of the companies was a biotech concern that benefited from legislation Obama pushed just two weeks after the senator purchased $5,000 of the company’s shares. Obama was also nabbed conducting campaign business in his Senate office, a violation of federal law.
9. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA): House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who promised a new era of ethics enforcement in the House of Representatives, snuck a $25 million gift to her husband, Paul Pelosi, in a $15 billion Water Resources Development Act recently passed by Congress. The pet project involved renovating ports in Speaker Pelosi’s home base of San Francisco. Pelosi just happens to own apartment buildings near the areas targeted for improvement, and will almost certainly experience a significant boost in property value as a result of Pelosi’s earmark. Earlier in the year, Pelosi found herself in hot water for demanding access to a luxury Air Force jet to ferry the Speaker and her entourage back and forth from San Francisco non-stop, in unprecedented request which was wisely rejected by the Pentagon. And under Pelosi’s leadership, the House ethics process remains essentially shut down – which protects members in both parties from accountability.
10. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV): Over the last few years, Reid has been embroiled in a series of scandals that cast serious doubt on his credibility as a self-professed champion of government ethics, and 2007 was no different. According to The Los Angeles Times, over the last four years, Reid has used his influence in Washington to help a developer, Havey Whittemore, clear obstacles for a profitable real estate deal. As the project advanced, the Times reported, “Reid received tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Whittemore.” Whittemore also hired one of Reid’s sons (Leif) as his personal lawyer and then promptly handed the junior Reid the responsibility of negotiating the real estate deal with federal officials. Leif Reid even called his father’s office to talk about how to obtain the proper EPA permits, a clear conflict of interest.

I DON’T CARE ABOUT EXPERIENCE ANYMORE AS SHE CLAIMS TO HAVE…YOUR WHOLE TEAM CAN BE FULL OF EXPERIENCE BUT IF YOUR JUDGMENT IS WEAK THEN NO EXPERIENCE WILL FIX THAT, AS HISTORY HAS SHOWN US. This is the dream of Dr. King, what people have died for ,cried for,and bleed for and were sitting around saying well life was good for black people when bill was president let’s try his wife you dont owe the clintons namesake but we do owe all the people black and white who died and march, to see that all they did was not in vain by giving Barak Obama a chance to show the world that black people have the mind and talent and skill to lead a great nation. my spirit would be crushed to know that we came oh so close but because of the efforts of African Americans inability to support someone who not only looks like them but has a great mind we are left to wait 500 more years. No, you should not vote for Sen.Obama because of what you see you should also vote by what you hear and read do your own research and see what he’s done and what he has’nt done and if you stilll feel Sen. Clintons your president than more power to you but give the man a chance and don’t pick the leader of the free world because of her husband record BECAUSE HE WILL NOT BE THE PRESIDENT..

For all you people saying Hillary is so experienced, what in the hell has done in the senate that impressed you so much? I can’t think of a damn thing. Y’all do know that Obama has served more years than Hillary as an elected official, right? Or do you just listen to what she says and take everything as the truth without questioning it? Do you really think as a black person that Hillary is concerned about your community? The only time she’s ever in a black neighborhood, is when she goes to a black church to try to get votes. And you best believe that the media is there to record it, ’cause she damn sure wouldn’t be there otherwise. Obama as been in the black neighborhoods working with black churches to help improve living conditions. Can you say the same about Hillary? For everyone on the Hillary bandwagon just because she barely won the NH primary, go to Obama and Hillary’s websites and read their bios and about their issues and don’t just blindly follow Hillary just because her last name is Clinton. Also, none of you Hillary supporters find it strange that Bill is so involved with Hillary’s campaign? I mean, is she running for president or is he?

direct quote from obama
“I think that we should take into account white kids who have been disadvantaged and have grown up in poverty and shown themselves to have what it takes to succeed.”
allow me to change my original comment. he is not anit affirmative action, he thinks that poor whites should also be included in that definition. i apologize for the misinformation. i should have said he doesn’t think affirmative action should be for minorities only but should also include poor whites. in my mind that computes to he is anti affimative action but i can see how others may view it differently. Anyway, hillary thinks the definition should remain as it is

I think it is quite a distinction actually. Obama feels that his kids (or someone like Michael Jordan’s kids) don’t really need the benefits of affirmative action in the way that poor black kids need assistance. The purpose of the law is to give everyone an equal opporunity at education, jobs, and financial security. Obama’s kids start way ahead of most black kids the same way that most white kids start out ahead of most black kids.
I think including economics into the equation makes sense. Plus Repulblicans are a lot less likely to be able to overturn Affirmative Action if you make it about the poor (most of whom are black percentage wise).

^^^^^^^^^not trying to offend you or anything, but you need to watch out on who you can and cannot trust. another thing is you as black people cannot use the clintons as a safety net. there’s two flawed things with your assessment with the clintons. one being the case that if we’re going to have hillary as president then we’re going to have bill and everything is going to be okay. one thing you have to know that hillary is not bill, and even during HIS time as president, hillary was seperate from bill. so don’t believe that illusion that we’re going to have another bill clinton administration, that’s just like believing JFK & bobby kennedy were the same people, and they were not, in fact bumped heads alot of times. the 2nd flawed assumption is that we would return to the 90’s. one thing that’s wrong with that is that so much have happened this decade, especially due to the impact of 9/11, it will be IMPOSSIBLE for us to return to the past. that’s exactly whut it is, the past. the question is who is going to lead us in a completely new era? to the new decade? and the majority of the problems today were SEEDED from the 90’s. another thing you have to recognize that the SAME PEOPLE from the 90’s are the same people TODAY running this country. it’s plain musical chairs. in fact, the republicans were the ones that MAINLY dominated both the senate & the house during the clinton administration, the same ones who we put blame on today and kicked them out only to be disappointed by the democrats that are in control today.
whut obama is proposing is to scrap away from those who been connected with the bush/clinton eras…if you think about it, it would be damn near 20 YEARS of a bush, clinton, bush…and possibly clinton. and we need to end that cycle.
as for the experience portion, whom i feel is VERY suspect, because even if hillary acquired bill’s “experience”, whut’s the worth of experience when it comes to bad judgement? bush’s two cabinets had an average of 40 YEARS of EXCUTIVE experience!!! his cabinet is argueably the most experienced cabinet ever in a presidency. where did it get us? whenever i hear about hillary’s experience, i always question whut were her TRIUMPHS? everything i hear her connected with were FAILED projects. the biggest one in which she’s touting today is her so-called healthcare plan…the same one she been touting for over 15 years now! the whitewater scandel is another failure. i haven’t seen, especially for OUR people in where her experience equal to success. AT LEAST with obama’s limited “experience” he have made moves against racial profiling, injustice for the criminal system, calls for cleaning up the environment, and calls for better education. and even BEFORE holding the senator seat, he made accomplishment as a grassroots activist, denying high paying firm positions, because he believe in helping the community. i cannot understand HOW you feel he’s untrustworthy.
in comparison from obama. black people raised up IN SPITE of the clinton administration, not because of it. in fact, there were a number of things he done thru his administration that showed his objection to the black community.
-the sista soulja is a racist comments just to pulls votes
-the denial of Lani Guinier for civil rights attorney general because of her proposition on a new voting system that would of given minorities a fair advantage
-the BOOST of men of color being sent to prison due to the cosignment of the 3 strikes law. as well as the boost up with the death penalty, and the erasement of having prisoners to get an education. in other words, he made prison the new version of slavery.
-his COMPLETE objection to the million man march, which was one of the MAIN reasons we as black people were susseccful towrds the end of that decade, because of the impact and influence for empowerment and improving our lives and our businesses.
-the clintons have NEVER been trustworthy. i wasn’t even suprised as the tactics they used just to get the votes in N.H….the gender card (when obama haven’t YET used the race card), bill clinton calling obama’s run for president “a fairytale”, hillary downplaying the importance of MLK (of ALL people!!!).
our people need to wake up and understand, clinton didn’t do jack for us, we did it ourSELVES! if things were so “okay” in our people during the 90’s then why was an estimated 1 MILLION people marched in the 1st place?? it wasn’t because we want clinton’s help..it was because we were TIRED of the government to help us and decided to take it in our own hands. and it was a success. today’s generation need to look back and see that and be commited to do that for today.
this brings back to whut obama is saying. it’s MORE than one man, but us as a whole UNITING to improve this nation. the division that we have in america is unbelieveable…and in part it’s mainly because of the back 20 years of a bush/clinton/bush…and maybe clinton era…
lastly, the BABY BOOM domination of government is coming to a close. obama is not from that era, he’s the 1st one from the generation X era. most of us here are from the same era that he’s in. we NEED someone that is a representative of us.

Willie Lynch? Have you ever heard of him. It’s called conquer and divide. Pick out any little thing. Contrary to the History 101 you have been reading, but NOT all “black” people are descendants of West African slaves. Some West African slaves captured were also from East african and North Africa and even African island countries like Madagascar, who were in West Africa at the time, maybe traveling or what have you. SO…..actually you don’t know that. And bi-racial people, (Black and white, Black anything) is considered “Black” by US racial standards. We all know that race is a socially constructed fallacy invented by Eurocentrism, but it has come to be a culture subcategory that Obama very much fits into. HE self identifies as Black, and God damn-it that’s what we will call him. There is no wrong or right way to be “Black.” Please stop being ignorant before I take you to school.

I think that we should support Obama because he is in a tough situation with the presidential election. But we as black people know that the white people do not won’t a black person in the white house.
We as a people need to come together whether we live in the suburbs, the hood, or a manison somewhere. I think it’s about time we support Obama and support our brothers and sisters in whatever we do.

Laws can be amended you know…..just sayin…
ARE YOU AN IDIOT???? The law puts people in jail who committ felonies, like, let’s see the Black man who was put in jail for the rest of his life for stealing a pizza. It’s people like you, that offend me. Your ignorance is just astonishing. this is “google-able” stuff. It’s not like we are all walking around with this information that you are not privy too. I blame Bill Clinton, because he knew damn well what he was doing, and under him the Black jail population rose by 2 million. And it doesn’t just affect Blacks, but WE are the ones who are disproportionately make up the jail population due to racial profiling, harsh sentencing, etc. Which all SKYROCKETED under Bill. I don’t give a damn about people making more money under Bill, if my brother, husband, and father is in jail. Bottom line.

I agree, this cat4everrr person is strange. There’s nothing wrong with white people benefiting from affirmitive action, because many do already: white women. In case you didn’t know, subgroups of whites can be minorities too…the fact minority seemingly equals black to you says alot about your thought process.
Also, are you from NY? How are you so sure Clinton is the way to go? I can tell you first hand, that compared to other politicians that I’ve had experience with, it’s almost as if she didn’t exist, she’s so inacessible. My family has contacted her & her office many times with issues important to us over the years, and we’ve NEVER received a response or any sort of aknowledgement, none whatsoever. Strangely this wasn’t the case with our other senator or elected officials, they contacted us, called us, mailed us, met with us. That’s what a true elected leader should do…some “woman of change” she is. I wish I could take back my votes! To put it plainly, she’s BS people!

Thursday, January 10, 2008 /
I’m tired of the fear mongering. Some of us wonder if Obama isn’t black enough or afraid that he might be killed once he became president. We’re living in the past we need to learn how to grow and prosper in a positive way. We should feel proud that this man was grassrooted from Chicago who rather help ALL people who are suffering rather than taking a top attorney job at a top-notched law firm .
He’s not looking at one race or gender, he talking about the USA as a hold. Clinton will divide us all if we are not open to change. Change is a positive thing because it give us the opportunity to open our minds to the point that you can believe in yourself to point that you can begin to think out side of that box so that you can grow and learn from one another.
I have watched this election very carefully. If Hillary becomes our president we will never get out of Iraq….that’s a fact. She have filp/flop over that issue every sinces she has been in this election..
Bill Clinton basically said that Obama ideal of changes are “Fairytails” and that this country will be rolling the dice if we select him as President. He pissed off various African American politicans by calling Obama a Kid. This is a grown man and very hard working Senator. who earn his position.
At Hillary’s last event in NH she stated that Lyndon B. Johnson was really the movement of the civil right not Martin Luther King. If the Clintons would’ve lost NH she and Bill was going get even dirter to divide the Democrats. They just want to win and they don’t care how they do this.
Do we want the same old thing. Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton, again? The economy is about to go into recession and almost every lobbyist is in the pockets of the Clintons. How can she bring true change?
Our American soliders are dying in Irag for what? Based on a lie and she wants to blame Bush. At least Kerry and Edwards apologize, if she would have done the same thing than I think that this would be a total different election but now they trying to make people think that Obama was flip flopping about supporting the war. They are desperate.
Alot of people used alot of common sense like Obama who knew we had no business going to Irag because we took our eye off the ball. Bin Laden is still sitting up in the mountiain in Afganstian while they filled their pockets with Iraq’s oi. as WE still pay for high price gas.
Nothing is not going to change. We need true change. We live on faith in hope all of our lives because we’ve been taught this all our lives. We have to face our fears and put alot of faith and hope in God because only he has control over our lives and we can’t look into a crystal ball to determine Obama’s future. We need to start loving each other and uplifting each other no matter what race or gender we are because we ALL Americans. The world is watching.seem them a message that we are really ready for true change.
