As I said, I knew immediately when her Dad said it would be an incredible performance that she’d gotten Tina to duet with her but I really do think this another of Beyonce’s attempts to keep it moving. (And why would she need to “keep it moving”, you stans might ask?? Well, I don’t think she’s ever had a number one hit that didn’t feature a guest performer.) Just as the DC reunion for the last album was her going away without going away as well as a way to fulfill the album requirements so that she could make a new, better deal with the label.
The writers aren’t striking, but that’s of no consequence because Beyonce committed to perform BEFORE she knew the writers wouldn’t strike, she did so amidst PLEASE by the writers to boycott the show. …I just don’t see the duet as some gorgeous homage to Tina Turner or even to entertain the world…I think it’s another opportunistic trick by her Dad. A Tina and Beyonce duet is about the only thing she COULD do at the Grammy’s. Because, what else would she perform? Irreplaceable? Something from the Dreamgirls soundtrack?
