Disgraced sprinter Marion Jones, 32, was in surprisingly good spirits as she gave her first TV interview since confessing she had lied about her drug use.
“I have no regrets for doing what I did on October 5th and pleading guilty and admitting to the world that I lied, that I made mistakes,” she told US talk show host Oprah Winfrey. [ SEE MORE ]
Last week, Jones was sentenced to 6 months in prison for perjury concerning her involvement in the check fraud case and her use of performance enhancing drugs. She has been ordered to surrender on March 11th to begin her jail term.
IKE TURNER DIED FROM COCAINE OVERDOSE
Legendary musician Ike Turner died from a cocaine overdose, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday.
“We are listing that he abused cocaine, and that’s what resulted in the cocaine toxicity,” said Paul Parker, chief investigator at the medical examiner’s office. The medical examiner’s office also listed hypertensive cardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema as “significant and contributing factors” to Turner’s death, Parker said.
Turner, 76, died at his San Marcos home on Dec. 12.

Attorneys for Wesley Snipes have characterized Ocala, Florida, as racist and say he doesn’t have a shot at seating a single black juror for his federal tax evasion trial.
No blacks were part of the jury pool Monday as a judge questioned scores of Marion, Lake, Citrus and Sumter county residents about possibly serving on the month-long trial.
“There were no black faces in the courtroom except my client,” said Linda Moreno, one of the attorneys representing Snipes.
Snipes, 45, is accused of filing false tax return claims with the Internal Revenue Service in 1996 and 1997 that totaled $11.4-million. The IRS also claims that Snipes failed to file returns at all from 1999 to 2004.
Snipes had started his day with a prayer vigil at 7:15 a.m. at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Ocala. Organizers said about 150 people were there to show support. As he made his way to a waiting sport utility vehicle to leave, Snipes greeted his fans. At one point, he positioned his hands as if to pray. He nodded to the crowd and softly said, “God bless you.”

#28, I agree with you 100%. I watched Marion Jones on Oprah’s show and I detected rudeness on Oprahs part too. I dont condone what Marion did, but we all make mistakes. None of us are perfect and I think to make a mistake and have the whole world look at you in judgement is more than enough punishment for any human being to handle. I thought in spite of everything she is going through, she handled her interview with grace and class. She is a prime example that God doesnt give us more than we can handle. I think someone with no spiritual foundation would have cracked under this sort of pressure.

Marion did not “make a mistake” — she got up on COUNTLESS occasions and told what my mother would call “bald-faced lies” about her steroid use. Then she tried to pass it off as if her conscience told her to come clean. No, Marion, it wasn’t your conscience — it was being found out as a liar by the FEDS. She got caught and that’s the only reason she “confessed.”

I don’t understand where all this stuff about Wesley Snipes realizing that he’s black now that he’s in trouble is coming from. The brother has always been very conscious of his heritage and is very well-versed in black history. It may be a faulty version, but he is well-versed in it. He is affiliated with many black and African historical authors, does voiceovers for their audiobooks, and has for years. If certain sisters are offended that he married an Asian woman and may have made disparaging remarks about black women than they should say that.
