Disgraced sprinter Marion Jones, 32, was in surprisingly good spirits as she gave her first TV interview since confessing she had lied about her drug use.
“I have no regrets for doing what I did on October 5th and pleading guilty and admitting to the world that I lied, that I made mistakes,” she told US talk show host Oprah Winfrey. [ SEE MORE ]
Last week, Jones was sentenced to 6 months in prison for perjury concerning her involvement in the check fraud case and her use of performance enhancing drugs. She has been ordered to surrender on March 11th to begin her jail term.
IKE TURNER DIED FROM COCAINE OVERDOSE
Legendary musician Ike Turner died from a cocaine overdose, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday.
“We are listing that he abused cocaine, and that’s what resulted in the cocaine toxicity,” said Paul Parker, chief investigator at the medical examiner’s office. The medical examiner’s office also listed hypertensive cardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema as “significant and contributing factors” to Turner’s death, Parker said.
Turner, 76, died at his San Marcos home on Dec. 12.

Attorneys for Wesley Snipes have characterized Ocala, Florida, as racist and say he doesn’t have a shot at seating a single black juror for his federal tax evasion trial.
No blacks were part of the jury pool Monday as a judge questioned scores of Marion, Lake, Citrus and Sumter county residents about possibly serving on the month-long trial.
“There were no black faces in the courtroom except my client,” said Linda Moreno, one of the attorneys representing Snipes.
Snipes, 45, is accused of filing false tax return claims with the Internal Revenue Service in 1996 and 1997 that totaled $11.4-million. The IRS also claims that Snipes failed to file returns at all from 1999 to 2004.
Snipes had started his day with a prayer vigil at 7:15 a.m. at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Ocala. Organizers said about 150 people were there to show support. As he made his way to a waiting sport utility vehicle to leave, Snipes greeted his fans. At one point, he positioned his hands as if to pray. He nodded to the crowd and softly said, “God bless you.”

Marion didn’t come clean, the owner of the company and others said they saw her do it. She lied to investigators and she was about to get TRIED IN FEDERAL court. She admitted when her azz knew she was gonna do serious time. She cheated all those other talented athletes that we never even heard of of their Gold medals and have the nerve to be all cockey about the whole ordeal. I liked her until I saw her on Oprah the other day, now I can’t stand the site of her and Mama O was right, everyone calls on God when in trouble but why couldn’t she just have faith to win the races without taking steroids. Oprah, in my opinion was not rude, she simply asked the questions we all wanted to know. “What were you thinking when you lied”, I think that is as direct as a question can get, and the sign of a seasoned reporter. I commend Marion for admitting her guilty, and facing her sentence with humility, dignity and grace. I think we can all learn a little from Marion, it is never to late to do the right thing, and that is the message I would want my children to take away from this unfortunate situation.
