Disgraced Olympian Marion Jones was sentenced to 6 months in prison Friday for lying to federal prosecutors about using steroids. Jones, who plead guilty to the charges in October, lied about her steroid use and that of her knowledge that her ex-boyfriend Tim Montgomery having committed check fraud. She was sentenced to an additional two months for the check fraud case. The sentences will run concurrently.
She has since been stripped of the five track and field medals that she won in Sydney. She had won three gold medals during the games there. Along with her medals being taken away her name has been erased from the record books.
Jones was once worth millions by pulling in product endorsements. She is now in financial ruin because of her steroid use. Damn shame!

In happier news, R&B singer Monica gave birth this week to her second child, Romelo Montez Hill. He weighed a healthy 5 pounds 6 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.
This is her 2nd child with producer Rodney “Rock” Hill, Jr. The couple has a two-year-old son named Rodney Ramone Hill III.

Listen, normally people get put away for 10 years for being involved in counterfeit check schemes. Marion Jones lied to the Feds on two counts. She only gets 6 months, and that’s only after she got arrogant and asks that she serve no time at all. Marion Jones has enough connections and probably knows enough people in the law profession that she would have had to serve no time for what she did. Even though she lied to the feds, she’s still very well connected. If she were a poor woman with no resources, they would have locked her up long-termly.
And once she’s released, life will not be hard for her. It will go on, she will have more options, still, than most for making a considerable living.
So, I don’t feel sorry for her as far as having to serve 6 months. On the other hand, I don’t feel that people should throw the book at her either. The Feds lie to us every day. As people of African descent, we’ve fallen victim to their lies and corruption before and continue to. So, what’s the big to do about it? The Judiciary System is corrupt, this country is corrupt. Who cares? People will forgive her, she deserves to be forgiven.

I don’t feel sorry for Marion at all. She has 6 months to think about what she did and try to make ammends with her family when she gets out. Well i feel that Marion Jones shouldnt have to do time in prison! I mean like others said they took her money, endorsements, and metals away. Im all down for the community service she has to do but damn 6 months in prison is pretty steep. And i hate to compare cases but look at all these young hollywood girls who are DWI and some drinking underage, they do what 48 hours in prison and all is forgiven, and they dont get a dime of their money taken away unless its like some fine of $1000 which is chump change to them. I AM IN NO WAY saying that what Marion did was right cuz dammit she was wrong but I definately think this is a case of going too far with the punishment
