Nate Dogg, the once go-to guy for hooks, is reportedly paralyzed on the left side of his body after suffering from a stroke during the holidays.

BallerStatus reports that the only information regarding the rapper’s condition is that he spent nearly eight days confined to a hospital bed at the Pomona Valley Hospital from December 19th until December 26th and adds MTV just got word that he is still suffering from the mild stroke, from his manager on Thursday. Despite being paralyzed, Nate Dogg (real name: Nathaniel Hale) is expected to make a full recovery.

He is currently residing in an occupational rehab facility.

“Time will tell everything, obviously. The doctor can only guess what the outcome will be,” the singer’s rep, Rod McGrew, told MTV. “But based on situations with similar people his age, and based on his health, the prognosis is good right now.”

GOLFWEEK FIRES EDITOR OVER NOOSE COVER

golfweek.gif

The parent company of Golfweek magazine on Friday fired the editor who approved this week’s cover image of a noose for an article about the Golf Channel host Kelly Tilghman’s use of the word “lynch” to describe how young players could challenge Tiger Woods.

According to Golfweek‘s website:

“We apologize for creating this graphic cover that received extreme negative reaction from consumers, subscribers and advertisers across the country,” said William P. Kupper Jr., president of Turnstile Publishing Co., the parent company of Golfweek. “We were trying to convey the controversial issue with a strong and provocative graphic image. It is now obvious that the overall reaction to our cover deeply offended many people. For that, we are deeply apologetic.”

Dave Seanor, the fired editor, who on Thursday defended the cover choice as one that was not intended to be “racially provocative,” was subdued Friday. “Sitting in the editor’s chair in this day and age is sort of like walking a tightrope,” he said in a telephone interview. “I lost my balance and slipped off.”

    Bowhe,

That’s exactly why this white editor did not see a problem with a noose on the front cover. If black people wont respect themselves, how can we expect them to ? Think about it. We are the only race to demean and disrepect women to the highest capacity. Don’t even get me started on the black family. Black men need to take their place in the home and quit making all lthese babies out of wedlock. It’s more popular to be a “pimp” and disrepsect women than it is to take care of your kids and family. We have to do better otherwise, it will only get worse.

Man….Nate Dogg paralyzed? We really have to start taking better care of our health and stay away from this processed and fast food! Everyone is getting sick now with cancer and strokes! Our bodies just can’t handle the stress we put it through. Even dogs are getting cancer…what kind of crap is that? I hope Nate can bounce back from this!

  8. PLEASE!!!

Thanks for the information, #16! You sound like a doctor or a nurse!

    LOL @ #27

  9. OG_Sweetz

    Get well soon Nate.

BLACK men PLEASE go get yourselves checked!! Stop trying to be so damn hard, and ignoring when your body is suffering. I’m tired of my black men dropping like flies Also, # 34 (LISA) made an excellent point. We can’t keep eating that greasy stuff EVERYDAY. I know it’s good, but our arteries can’t take that ALL the time.

I will be praying for Nate. I truly hope he gets well…and I have a feeling that he will get well. This is incredibly difficult but he’ll get through this stronger than ever.

Oh my goodness, what the hell? I guess 2008 is going to be another “growing pains” year when it comes to racism. I think we’re getting closer to resolving so many race issues, despite all the publicized racism that’s been going on this past year. People who naively believed that racism didn’t exist are realizing that it is alive and well AND they’re also realizing that people of color aren’t afraid to speak out about it – whether it’s blatant racism (like nooses, Genarlow Wilson) or subtle racism (in tv, movies, etc) and we’re going to see some real change really soon. It’s not gonna be easy of course, but it a necessary step towards progress as far as racism goes.

  15. Ms.Thang

My heart goes out to the Nate family. Hope he fully recovers soon and takes it easy. Hope errythin works out.

  16. Jamie872006

I HOPE NATE DOGG GETS BETTER I’M PRAYING FOR HIM.

  17. moxpoe

glad that editor got canned…….i’m beginning to think that the other race secretly covets the symbolism of the noose.

They could’ve simply put tiger and the anchowoman s-shot on the cover……why go so far as to use a noose.

  18. Michael Dejonte Morrison

I THOUGHT NATE DOGG HAD DIED, I DIDNT REALISE THAT HE JUST HAD HAD A STROKE BUT IS STILL ALIVE. IM SORRY YALL FOR SCARING YALL. MY APOLOGIEZ.

    WTH MLK III but congrats
What’s really good with these golf people they just showing they asses lately huh

  20. Gorgeous Black Women

    Secret wife?

  21. LuvlyEmpress

Regarding Nate Dog: As the daughter of a retired nurse, I was told that a stroke is worst for a younger person than it is for someone in their 60′s or 70′s! I’m not sure why but it was said that the vitals organs are more active and may be susceptible to more harm.

In the news: What is up with the N-word and nooses all over the place. Racism is not dead, just dormant.

  22. Mz Coko

    Get well Nate!

I don’t believe he had a “secret” wife…but I am happy he will be having the child he always wanted…hopefully they will be blessed with more.

That editor needed to be fired…white people continue to think their shyt don’t stink, huh?

  23. starrynight

My thoughts and prayers go out to Nate Dog and his family. Be strong Nate

  24. Lady J

Gosh, that news on Nate Dogg really hurt. He’s so young. I’m glad their optimistic about his outcome.

Why MLK III hiding a marriage? I don’t get it.

As far as the noose on the cover of that magazine, I wish the media would tell the whole story. I don’t understand how ol’ girl that made the derogatory comment can keep her job, but his cover (which is in regards to an article that will talk about the girl’s “noose” reference) is creating such a stir. The magazine says they fired him because he didn’t follow proper protocol about having proper people authorize the cover … fine. But as sick as I am about hearing noose references, this one was the only one that was actually relevant.

  25. Al

The result of too much parytying and not taking care of oneself. These guys think they are invincible. It’s unfortunate maybe this will give the rest a wake up call.
Lokk at Dr Dre and 50 both smart enough to take care of themselves.

  26. Al

I see no problem with the noose. I get the point the editor was trying to make and it kept people talking. Sometimes we overreact. Good job.

  27. Al

    Don’t judge a magazine by it’s cover.

  28. Al

Number 84, Lady J, maybe it’s because she is alomst 20 years his junior and the child will be Martin Luther King’s first grandchild.

  29. BLESSED

MAY GOD BE HIM AND HIS FAMILY THROUGH THIS TRYING TIME. I HOPE FOR HIM A FULL RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH.
