Rapper Ne-Yo sued the promoter of R. Kelly tours for firing him after two shows as the opening act for Kelly because the audience and the critics liked him better, court papers obtained on Wednesday show.
Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, and Compound Touring Inc. filed the suit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court against Georgia-based Rowe Entertainment Inc., alleging breach of contract and violation of the right of publicity.
Compound Touring and Smith are seeking unspecified damages, but the suit maintains he was to be paid $785,000 for 25 shows opening for Kelly’s “Double-Up Tour” that began Nov. 14 and is still owed $735,000. READ MORE

I had the pleasure of attending the R.Kelly concert on New Year’s Eve in Miami. And you guys can say what you want about Robert, but the man puts on a show! I would not have mind seeing Ne-Yo, but I spent over 90 dollars to see R. Kelly only! He performed over 2 1/2 hours and did hit after hit. He was phenomenal and if you ever get a chance to see him in concert you must do it. Keyshia Cole was also great, and it was a plus that Diddy came to perform on stage with her.
Rihanna is needs to stop wearing those dominatrix outfits on stage…other than that i lover her style.

- I’ve had the op. to see Ne-Yo perform 2-3 times and he doesnt have much stage appeal ; but that doesn’t take away from his artistry. But R. Kelly handled his business on stage.
- Rhi has only been in the game a short while and she has a good voice; her stage show may be a little weak but that can be worked on. If Ciara couldn’t dance, she wouldnt have half the fans she does now. Her performance makes up for where her vocals lack; same for Janet. Janet is a phenom. performer but honestly her vocal isn’t the strongest or the greatest.. she sings songs that fit her ability.
Let’s give Rhi some breathing room.. there are more important things going on in the world.
