Sorry about the delay on this guys, it was a pretty busy (extended) weekend. Here is the “Flashing Lights” remix that everyone has been going off about it. Personally, I can do without R. Kelly. I’m not gonna lie and say that he doesn’t add a certain energy when he gets on a song, but it just gets a little monotonous and repetitive. I prefer the version with just Kanye, in all honesty. I still can’t wait for the video, which stills have leaked from.
Erykah Badu – The Healer (full) – listen
Here’s another song from Erykah Badu’s new album, Nu AmErykah. I have always loved Erykah Badu, and I actually really love the production on this song, as well as her delivery. Even though this is lacking some actual singing, I like the way she delivers the song. And although it feels like it’s got some gaps in it, I found myself really bobbing my head as the song progressed. Upon more listens, I was getting into the lyrics. I thought because of “Honey,” Erykah, as creative as she is, didn’t have anything to talk about anymore. Proved me wrong! Nu AmErykah is due out February 26th.
Cassie – Untitled (snippet) – listen
In earlier interviews about Cassie’s new album, she mentioned hitting the studio with The Neptunes. I’m assuming that this untitled snippet is a product of that studio time. The song sounds unmixed, but I actually like the production. It’s a shame that in more recent interviews, Cassie has not mentioned that she went into the studio with Pharrell or Kanye, and has just been making mentions of the collaborations between Danja, Bryan-Michael Cox and Ryan Leslie. However, this could be an R. Les production. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s produced something with the signature Neptunes sound.
Chris Brown feat. Will.I.Am – Picture Perfect (full) – listen
Produced and featuring Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, “Picture Perfect” is the follow-up single to Chris Brown’s acoustic “With You.” Even though I like this song on the album, I do not think it’s an excellent single choice for Chris. In any event, he is still on his tour, and the album is actually doing really well. Chris’s “Kiss Kiss” is still on the charts, with “With You” climbing high and certainly getting a good amount of video play.
I’m feeling Ms. Badu’s song.
Won’t even listen to Flashing Lights. That song couldn’t get much better. I love the original, and from the looks of these comments, R. might ruin it for me.

Erykah got the most anticipated album this year for me. Everything else is yawn. Madlib laced her on this one I think they channel Dilla on this .
Flashing Lights Kellz = hot steaming mess. The flashin light is red. Rob’s remixing reeks!
I love Erykah but that song is not the business. I would not clean my house to it, ride to it, excercise to it, bump it at work on the headphone’s or in my ipod. Maybe if I was at a house party with stick chewers and incense waivers I would sip merlot and tolerate it.
Cassie did not sound half bad. She has a better tone than ashanti and she projects her voice better than some of these R&B chicks. Her sound is really bright and that’s a good thing. Definitely not Neptune production. Absolutely Ryan Leslie.
Chris Brown’s Picture Perfect is an attempt to capture even more of the crossover crowd and with a cameo from Rhianna in the video it would totally work. I mean the beat is definitely all over the place BUT that is meant to be part of the appeal of the song. Will I Am has his finger on the pulse of the consumer market. I mean look at fergie going from London Bridges to Big Girls Don’t Cry (or whatever that song is). They sound unrelated but not really. The overall vibe of her album is nike’s with a tux or in fergie’s case diamonds and denim. He makes his music sound wearable. The vibe is tangible.

Ya know – I like Erykah, but I didn’t really start feeling this song until close to the end. I read in a previous comment that this song serves as intro & outro to the album. I can see how that would work. This song on it’s own has a good Erykah sound, but I wouldn’t buy the album because of it.
