Sean “Diddy” Combs, who reprises the role of Walter Lee, Jr., stars in the highly anticipated, special three-hour television movie adaptation from Sony Pictures Television of “A Raisin in the Sun,” along with the cast of the award-winning Broadway revival who recreate their roles for the new film, including Emmy and Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad, four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald, Tony Award nominee Sanaa Lathan, plus “ER” star John Stamos.
Based on the classic Lorraine Hansberry play, it will air on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Network.
In related news, A Raisin in the Sun has been selected to be screened (out of competition) at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival later this month. This will be the first time that a broadcast network film will be featured at the celebrated festival.

I’m excited about watching this movie. Looks like everyone did worthy of the original.
I still have a fondenss for the first (I guess) made for TV version with Ruby Dee (love her) and Sidney Poitier. But judging from the clip this will be good also. To be totally honest I only saw the 1961 version about 3 years ago when I borrowed from the public library .Had I not saw 1961 version,I probably would have still been wondering what the story was about, because I really had no interest in seeing it. But when the cable was turned off; I got really into borrowing from the library-LOL!
Wow The “Duh Duh Duh Man “/ Radio Raheem”: Bill Nunn has gotten really fat-sorry!
Anyway can’t wait to see it!
wow! that looks like some goood entertainment. Sanna & Philycia look like real mother n daughter!
Ok…I’m really not hating here. But I’ve been a Langston Hughes fan since I was little and I love the play `Raisin in the Sun’, I actually got choked up to see Diddy in this role, and not choked up in a good way.
There is any number of black actors, that could use the exposure and the money and would do justice to this role. I’d encourage every young black person to read the poetry of langston hughes and read the play by Lorraine Hansberry `A Raisin in the Sun’, by researching it , it will lead to a culture of black literature and history that will change ones life.
I’m so tired of Diddy, I respect the fact that he’s a successful business man, but he should be just that, a business man, and should have given some of the struggling actors out there a chance to play such a significant role.
I see him in those stupid ads selling (pimping) vodka, and cologne and his superficial `making of the band’ show, that hasn’t really ever made a lasting band, and now I have to see his face in what should be a beautiful part of black history, it just does not fit.
I hope people watch, because people need to be exposed to how great black literature is and how much it has contributed to our history, and I’m all for modern day versions, but I’d rather keep the vision of Sidney Poitier until a suitable replacement comes along.
peace 2 u all
THEY TOLD US THE WHOLE DANG STORY…WTF!!! i guess…it might touch somebody lmao…lookin at the video i already know what gona happen!!!!!!
I’m excited to see this since I’ve never seen the play but have heard great things! Sean looks like he holds his own, you go boy! And I agree, all the lead women look related, good casting!
why is john stamos in it.
what an excellent tv night! The casting (awesome), the acting (moving), the story line (heartfelt). Why cant tv be like this every night. We would learn soooo much, about our american heritage and how we have changed through the years, we have forgotten to stand up and respond to our beliefs and the intergity that our ancestors before us have set forth. Show more of this type of television so that our children can see and we can be reminded, how people struggled to achieve respect, through sacrifice. Thank You ! Thank You! Antonietta Altamore
