Dancing was good but not impressed with the video..comcept was a bit off to me.

I liked B. Scott’s version better. Maybe he should’ve choreographed her video. 75% of the video was dead air, and then toward the end we got to see some sort of action/life going in the video.

Also, when has dancing in a simulated bowl of milk been a great concept for a video. When I think feedback, I think of some sort of audio reverberation…there is so much that can be done with that concept. I love me some Janet- she just needs to figure out what formula will work for the artist she is today. Overall I gave the video a C+ (that’s only for the dance break at the end).

Video is weird but it’s okay with me…reminds me of “scream” with her and Mike and the video she did with Busta…..I think it will be a hit and you can see by her dancing movements, where most of today’s stars get their moves…she had to bring it back and show them who is really on top.

They BECAME artists because they want to be appreciated. The urban stations in my town play more Justin Timberfake than black artists….I really think that R&B music and Hip Hop have gone to hell in the last several years. I like a lot of different types of music but right now, i’m not sure that R&B is an area where black artists can be appreciated. Urban stations play more Fergie than Mary J. Blige.

Once hip hop and urban culture became “cool” and was featured in everything from Mcdonalds commercials to computer commercials, it became mainstream.
It was co-opted…rebranded, re-classified, given a new king and queen (justin and fergie) packaged and sold to us….and you know what, we bought it–all while rejecting and mercilessly kicking the crap out of our own artists (like Janet).

There are things I like about just about every black artist out there (ummmm except that soulja boy kid..I’m sorry…its just annoying). I want to see Janet and the rest of them be successful, shine, and make good music.

The last time her albums were certified (before this new album) was in 2004. When she gets them just right she thrusts the last one forward, releasing them in to the universe. Thousands of spheres that shoot out of the soup of life back into space.

She sees evil around her, decides to leave her planet behind to go and fight this evil and when she wins, she gets to create the Universe she wants to live in.

I’m think I’m adopting a new sibling…BTW I laughed when I read your post because I’m a corporate tax lawyer with a concentration in corporate finance and I can say without any hesitation that Jay Z’s quote is wrong…Numbers DO lie. All the time. But because it takes focused thought to see through the lies–most people just take it on face value….for instance, I don’t believe for a hot second that Obama was 6 points behind Clinton in New Hampshire…but if you slap a number on it, most people will accept it as a valid “statistic” without question.

That said, if we want to depend on numbers, however, my favorite kind of numbers have $$dollar signs attached and Forbes listed Janet as the 7th wealthiest woman in entertainment last year. That’s a number worth paying attention to.

Im not gonna compare Janet to Ciara but what people should know is that on 106 & Park earlier this week JANET IS THE ONE WHO TOOK IT THERE….she gave Janet fans and Ciara fans somethin to bitch about when she said that Ciara’s promise videos was like hers (w/attitude) and so on, on national television…The problem is, ppl dont want more than one R&B female artist on top of their game at once…

The Bob Fosse moves on the planet before she jumped off were dope also loved the dancing during the bridge and at the end. The video is kinda weird but I guess this is what she wanted. If nothing else people will be talking about it and expressing their opinions, word of mouth is the best form of creating a buzz because it takes on a mind of it’s own. The song is hot and the video supports it in some ways. Personally, I think it is way better than call on me, Hype struck out with that one. Oh yeah, you better work that ponytail Barbarella and Jnaet had a catsuit on in her and Busta’s video no matter what color it was.
